In writing dialogue tags, SAID is still the best and mostly preferred by writers, and that these verbs should be used appropriately and sparingly. You can also see this post on dialogues. - James
A Court of Thorns and Roses ( 1/â) â Amarantha
Though lovely, she wasnât as devastatingly beautiful as I had imagined, wasnât some goddess of darkness and spite. It made her all the more petrifying. Her red-gold hair was neatly braided and woven through her golden crown, the deep colour enriching her snow-white skin, which, in turn, set off her ruby lips. But while her ebony eyes shone, there wasâŚsomething that sucked at her beauty, some kind of permanent sneer to her features that made her allure seem contrived and cold. To paint her would have driven me to madness.

Finals are finally over (for me, anyway). Thank God. I just finished A Court of Mist and Fury and oh my gooooood, it's amazing. Rhysand is a beautiful cinnamon roll that needs to be protected at all cost. I'll post a review later, along with a few thoughts on acomaf. But I would definitely recommend reading this book. 9/10. -Ela

Why I Love Writers
How We Write: The world in the morning was a land frost kissed and chilled. The sun rising above the willows to burn away fog and drink it up again. We rise anew, our bones stretching, our skin shimmering, our blood beating a drummer boys concerto. The land is coffee beans and frying pans and sweetness on the tongue, and we follow its path to whatever life may bring. We are the people and we are alive and we are ready.
How We Talk: Um- I mean⌠sure⌠yeah⌠uh, I mean I guess Iâm a morning person I mean oh shit I stuttered didnât I I mean fu-frick, thereâs a lot of stuff in the morning that I like and coffee is basically, you know, good or something or⌠um⌠the floor is cold? And sorry, I keep saying cruse words, oh shit I mean curse words I messed up my letters lol um⌠wow this is super awkward um⌠maybe we could start over and HOLY SHIT A PUPPY.
Watch: Earlier in the clip, Kimmel roasted Sarah Palin for her âoffensive and dangerousâ climate nonsense.

Not a huge fan of Kimmel, but this is fucking glorious and important.
My headcanon is that James Potter was left handed. He and Sirius developed their own fighitng style according to this fact and they were very effective because they used the opposite hands so they had no weak side.
Oh my god I have this EXACT same headcanon.  I just love how James and Sirius seem to be two halves of a whole in a way, like in that 800 word prequel where they had âidentical fluid movementsâ and in Snapeâs Worst Memory they worked together so flawlessly like⌠shit. Â
I hope you know that this is exactly the kind of content that will eject me into the heights of happiness ready to accept the sweet embrace of death because these two nerds will be the end of me
Can we just appreciate what the show did with Isabelleâs character?? Like hereâs a girl who is extremely self confident, whoâs comfortable with her sexuality and loves sex, a girl who supports other girls, a girl who dresses how she wants, who loves makeup and fashion. A girl who despite the fact that she is traditionally feminine in her interests and the way she dresses, despite the fact that she has a lot of sex despite all that she is equal to and respected by everyone and receives 0 inappropriate comments from male characters, as well as that she is the most intelligent and logical of all the characters, sheâs wise beyond her years and kind and selfless and wonderful all while wearing killer heals and a skin tight dress
Waiting is painful. Forgetting is painful. But not knowing which to do is the worst kind of suffering.

Iâm really amused by the argument âYou canât expect straight writers to include LGBT+ characters. Theyâve never experienced being LGBT+âÂ
Because like-
1) JK Rowling was never an 11 year old orphaned wizard boy. Tolkien was never an ELF. This is how writing works.
2) I, a bisexual woman, am perfectly capable of writing straight men?Â
Why are you guys such bad writers?
Like, no, maybe you would struggle to write an accurate and realistic portrayal of a trans teens transitioning, or a gay teens experience with homophobia. But you know you donât HAVE to go super in depth about those things to include LGBT+ characters AT ALL, right? We are more than the bigotry we endure.
The Truth About Fanfiction by Casey Lawrence
So you want to be a writer. Congratulations! That means youâre a writer. Thereâs no hard-and-fast rule about what makes a writer a writer. Maybe you write poetry, or blog posts, or novels, or infomercial scripts. Or maybe you write fanfiction.
A lot of people will tell you that fanfiction is not a legitimate form of writing. Theyâll say that itâs âcheating,â because you draw inspiration from other peopleâs work. Theyâll say itâs low class writing, because a lot of fanfiction is smutty (or, frankly, gay).
Well Iâm here to tell you, fanfiction writers, that you have nothing to be ashamed of! Well, maybe you have other things to be ashamed of. But you should not be ashamed for writing fanfiction.
Fanfic is a gateway drug for many writers. Itâs a way to explore ideas, practice writing, develop skills (like plotting, character development, continuity). Itâs a place you can go to get instant feedback, boost your confidence, get critiques. It can help you form lasting relationships, from the beta readers to best friends.
Writing fanfiction is, for many writers, not only a stepping stone to writing original fiction (and doing well in the publishing world), but also a valuable experience and asset. Or, you know, fun.
