You were disturbed again thanks to the noise of your new neighbor’s motorcycle. You took of your glasses and went to the kitchen to get a cup of green tea. God knows if you drink more coffee, you’ll die of caffeine. While the water was boiling, the boy carrying grocery bags outside caught your attention. You could see that he was tall, and he had a nice body. Now that you think of it, you have never met him. The only thing you know about him is that he moved here from Canada. You remember your mom saying when she came to visit you a week ago: “You have a new neighbor. He looks nice, I think he is around your age, you should go talk to him sometime. He moved here from Canada. I bet he has no friends here yet.” With the sound of the kettle you snapped out of these thoughts. With an instant decision you poured the tea to two cups. Feeling still undecided about this you knocked the door.
You hear the steps approaching. 1-2-3.
“Hey! Um… I’m y/n. Your neighbor.”
“Nice to meet you, it’s Brian.”
He extended his arm to shake your hand. He didn’t notice the cups you were holding.
You said immediately, “It’s for you. Green tea.”
“Oh, thank you. It’s still a bit messy but do you want to come in?”
There were still a few boxes need to be opened inside.
“Still busy with moving, huh?” You said when you walked into the kitchen.
“Is it that obvious?” He joked and you laughed.
“My mom told me that you are from Canada.”
“Oh, so Mrs. y/l/n is your mom.” He smiled. After he took a sip, he said, “Yes, that’s right. I moved here because of my job.”
“Really? I am doing my PhD there. What are you teaching?”
“Well, it’s not that interesting actually. Leadership Theory and Business Marketing.”
“Not at all. It sounds totally interesting. I would like to learn Marketing.” You took a sip from the green tea.
“Really? Do you want to attend one of my classes when you are free?” His eyes became big when asking excitedly.
“I would love to.” Hearing this, he smiled and looked out of the window.
You checked the time and realized you have five minutes left for a Skype meeting.
“I am sorry, I must go. I have a meeting through Skype in a few minutes.” You hurried to the door.
“Okay, see you later then.” He said and waved as you go back to your house. When he went back into the kitchen, he realized the cups on the table and smiled.
