1. did you eat the baby?
2. are you schizophrenic, louis?
3. and then what?
4. fuck, man, are you the zodiac killer?
5. YOU BOTH FUCKED LESTAT?
I am an atheist and my favorite about orb is how it incorporates theological perspectives.
Oczyβs experience about religion is what sums up the use of geocentrism model to enforce fear as a way to rule over people. That Earth is removed from godβs grace, full of suffering for people to be punished. But with heliocentrism, it means Earth IS already part of the heavenly order. The beauty of being part of this grand, logical set-up of how multiple planets revolve in a calculated fashion that can be understood by mortals. Humans understanding Godβs work. When put this way, it elevates common worshippers to be knowledgable, to not be less than priests and the educated. They, too, can understand a divine work. It erases the class divide the church is desperate to maintain to keep their power. People are supposed to fear God, and the church is weaponizing the very faith of their people.
It was never about blasphemy. It was never about religion. Itβs the same old human tale of suppressing knowledge and using fear (heretics being blamed for peopleβs suffering due to the churchβs actions) to maintain the status quo. And I love that the characters recognize that.
orb finale was phenomenal. a truly unorthodox ending for a truly unorthodox show, celebrating humanity's thirst for knowledge and belief while at the same time advising us not to let either cloud our judgement and morale. there's truly nothing like this and i implore you all to check it out
Anime is so weird, man. Why am I crying over the fact that Earth revolves around the sun?

Speaks to Liam's character when all of the women in the cast (regulars and guests) are attuned to him and look to him for support and guidance.

The only issue regarding the wrap up I have is the heavy bias towards VM and the fan base of M9, I hope all campaigns get discussed but that BH gets more focus since it was their story and they deserve their own main closure like the previous ones had as well.
Couldn't stay up until the end of the episode but I saw a post saying that Vax is alive and back with Keyleth? I'm... So pissed. Never before have I written a fix-it fic to make someone die but this may be the first one.
Look, I love Vax. And I really enjoyed his relationship with Keyleth in cr1. But for Everlight's sake, I'm an adult who not only can handle a story about loss but also can find beauty and comfort in it. Vax's sacrifice was important, so was Keyleth's grief and they made me cry but that doesn't mean I wished for this situation to be "fixed" by bringing Vax back to life. His sacrifice should be respected, not treated as something that had to be reversed for the story to have a happy ending. He sounded relieved to be able to go see his mother again, all those years ago. Let him have his rest instead of pulling him back to a place that wasn't really his for so many years, that moved on (Deanna vibes, anyone?)
And Keyleth too should be allowed to get her happy ending without Vax being back - no matter if that means moving on and starting to love someone else or remaining alone but finding happiness in her people and friends.
I'm an adult and I don't need to have a miracle-ending to every less-than-stereotypically-perfect situation. When you do that it stops feeling like a true miracle and starts to feel like a cheap handout to keep your fans placated.

It's an open notes test and some dense motherfuckers still can't figure out the answers.
