Hi, I wrote before about KCAD. Thanks so much for your insight! I am for sure looking to be an Illustration major. A lot of schools are refering to their illustration program as a pathway to becoming a storybaord artist. That is really the type of work I am interested in. So, is that a proper pathway to working in animation? Or is it definitely worth learning to animate instead? I appreciate your help, I'm a guppy in the ocean here. lol
Honestly, two things are needed for animation: learn to draw, and learn the animation process. Doing a film no longer than 1-2 minutes long (and please for your own sanity, no longer) with only one to two characters is a great way to learn. You will make so many mistakes on your first one, and your second, and also many more, but each one will make you that much better. You will really find out your strengths and your weaknesses, and you’ll also figure out what really calls to you in the field. Films are great portfolio pieces and can get eyeballs and attention on you. But please, please, please make them short.

When you attend school you are technically in story mode but once you graduate your life turns into an open world game with just side quests here and there.

A short 12-page comic I started last semester and finished up recently! It’s meant to be the prologue to a longer story I may or may not revisit in the future. I had this as well as Same Place Same Time for sale at the undergrad MICA illustration table at SPX last weekend. Thank you to everyone I talked to, bought from, traded with, etc.! I had a great time there on Saturday.
We are so little reconciled to time that we are even astonished at it. “How he’s grown!” we exclaim, “How time flies!” – as though the universal form of our experience were again and again a novelty. It is as strange as if a fish were repeatedly surprised at the wetness of water. And that would be strange indeed; unless of course the fish were destined to become, one day, a land animal.

World Wide Crazy
Misunderstandings. Happens all the time here on the World Wide Web. The Internet is kinda funny that way. You can learn anything, from basic quantum physics all the way to how to tie a Double Windsor Knot on your necktie. Safe to say, the Internet's kind of a big deal. Which makes misunderstandings all the funnier. How can something so smart -- be so dumb?

The Future We Were Promised

Funny, isn't it? Once upon a time, kids dreamed of one day having a robot that would vacuum the carpet and prepare dinner for them. Or perhaps hovercrafts enabling them to fly overhead great cities. But as the world turns, our dreams change. Today, it seems highly unlikely that the day will ever even come when we can travel through time and accidentally prevent our parents from meeting. But on the other hand, we can fit a computer in our pockets... That has to count for something, right?
