This is my entry for @adobecreate ‘s #pickaportraitstyle contest to pick a style and recreate the provided adobe stock portrait image. I completed my line work using Illustrator to save it as an asset to open in Illustrator Draw on my iPad where I did all of the color. I then opened it back on Illustrator on my laptop to add some textures to the cacti and the woman’s shirt. This is the third in what will be a series of merch. I have struggled with depression and anxiety since I was about 11 years old. Shortly after having my first daughter I was diagnosed as bipolar type 2. I wanted to create something for the other mothers out their who struggle with their own mental health. The heart behind this line that I will be offering through @redbubble is this : We can be mothers and mental. Motherhood is not just a fix all for anything. Some days it makes being mental, even more so. Others it can take us away from it completely. Mental health and motherhood exist together and it isn’t talked about.
