Solid DIY album.  Pretty light, but catchy.

This album is so much fun.  It just sounds like a bunch of dudes in a garage drinking beer and playing catchy rock shit.  Plus they start this song off with a Game of Thrones/Song of Ice and Fire reference, which is fun.

Because K-Pop is fucking catchy, that's why.

There's nothing I can say to convince you that I'm not crazy.  Just listen to it. Seriously.  It's super good.

Genre: Experimental Rock Released: 2014 Recommended Track: Bus Station

This is probably my favorite album I've done on the blog thus far.  It stays right on the line of being experimental enough to be a really interesting listen, while still being pretty accessible to people who don't spend all day listening to weird stuff (Well, most of the songs anyway).  I chose this song because I think it has a pretty good split - like 80% accessible vs 20% weird shit. 

Genre: Metal/Drone/Psychedelic Rock I guess Released: 2014 Recommended Track: Rooks Across The Gate

Man, what a song.  Like most tracks on this album, it's just this big plodding behemoth that doesn't seem to be leaving any time soon.  If it were a magic card, it would definitely be an Eldrazi.

Genre: Electronic Released: 2009 Recommended Track: Stay Crunchy

Most of the music I listen to is pretty 'serious business,' so it's nice to have a palette cleanser from time to time.  Ronald Jenkees is a silly fun electronic musician from youtube, and makes silly fun electronic music. That's pretty much it. 

Genre: Electronica Release Date: August 25, 2014 Recommended Song: Until The Night Is Over

This album feels a lot more similar to the M83 we know today. I chose this track because it's a) one of the only two unremixed songs on this record and b) it has some of the most depressing lyrics I've heard in a while, and those are always good times.

Genre: Classic Rock Release Date: February 12, 1981 Recommended Track: Limelight

It was Neil Peart’s brithday last week (Rush’s drummer) so I thought it would be a good time to do this album.  This recommendation leans more towards the “good representation of the album” side of the spectrum – otherwise I would have chosen YYZ in a second, as that song has a very special place in my heart.

I’ve been a bad person and used the word “Pop” as a catchall for any type of music that’s accessible and difficult to pin down.  Sorry about that. Anyway, catchy song, girl has good range, fun album.

This song is my pick from the album because I feel it blends the two halves well – it features a consistently paced song with good writing, but is also very catchy.

Super cool post rock album.  Not a genre I listen to often these days, but I really enjoyed the female vocals on this one.
