just imagine in a few years time. you’re on a car journey and as you drive along you put in a cd and hum along as the tunes of your teen years blast through the speakers, cracking a small smile as you mouth the lyrics that helped you through dark times. you look back and see your child - not yours and (your favs) child, just your kid - bopping their head to the music as they sit in the car seat playing with whatever you they’d begged for at the store. you watched as they jumped about as the song picks up and you cant help but laugh because they’re more like you than you thought, dancing along to a song they don’t understand yet but will grow to understand the deeper meaning but for now are just happy to have a sound fill the air. you look at the passenger seat and smirk as your partner tries to subtly mouth the lyrics of the song they’re adamant they don’t like because “that band wasn’t cool!!” but you know deep down that they enjoy the music because it makes you happy. and you’re just so content with your life and your family. even if it wasn’t what you wanted during your teen years; you’d been dreaming of marrying your fav for so many years but the whole concept of that causes you to laugh now. you knew it wasn’t possible but at the time you were so desperate, because they showed you so much love and never hurt you once but years passed and they married someone else - someone better - and it hurt like hell at the time but now it was okay. they were happy with their partner and you were happy with yours. your S/O was everything you’d wanted and more, they gave you the same sense of security your fav did and when you met them you realised that band members weren’t everything and you could find love in someone as normal as you. so many years had passed since you last heard about your fav or looked on your old fan account, your teen years were a distant memory to you but you were finally genuinely happy. you still had love for your fav after all this time, they still had such a special place in your heart, but you’d stopped living in the past and grown up.
