Blueberry Muffins & Lattes A Ouran High School Host Club Fan-fiction.
Summary: Within the lavish & wealthy, Sayaka Minami finds friendship, resulting in the start of her healing journey.
Chapter Two: Scholar Arrangements
Haruhi didn't act like the rest in the extravagant, elegant sense. Our eye contact was interrupted by the other girls in our class as she walked out, answering questions about me, I’d guess. My head would tilt, humming softly before I could notice the twins standing on each side, both of their arms supporting each of my own, along with my belongings - guiding me out of the classroom.
"Wait a minute! Isn't the cafeteria on the first level? Wouldn't we have to go down the stairs we just passed?" I'd question them as my cheeks flush.
They both kept walking, no matter how much I slowed down my own pace. "Where are we going? Hey!" With some struggle, I freed myself from the two as they stopped to look at me. "We're going to eat lunch somewhere else."
"Just come with us, we can go back afterwards." Hikaru would smile after his remark while Kaoru looked at me, chuckling softly as the two grabbed me once more. We passed through more hallways until we saw Haruhi entering a music room.
"We don't know Haruhi well, but..." Kaoru rambles off for Hikaru to finish his thought, "She has been quite interesting to observe, and you've shown similar characteristics to her. I'm not surprised that you both share the scholar mentality." I would sigh, giving up my attempts at being alone. Sort of hoping I could sketch the lunch hour away. "I'll take that as a compliment."
The door to the music room opened, and the scent of roses burst out of the spacious room. Immense windows framing the place with sunlight, as the place had nothing but furniture and a piano, an instrument I had only seen in pictures & read about in fictitious tales. A dining room table was on display with more than just a few meals, each dish its own fine plate & cutlery, making me take a step back from the overwhelming sight as the twins slowly got to let their grip loosen.
"Now, what do we have here? You may want to explain yourselves. Holding a lady like that. Hikaru, Kaoru."
After that remark, the rest turned into a blur, wincing at the sharp pain my stomach stabbed me with at the sight of food. My heart kept pumping out of rhythm, with another step backwards - I ran for the door, pushing it instead of pulling. "Minami?" The twins would speak from a distance, but I couldn't respond. My stomach kept turning as my hands started to sweat, making it almost impossible to open the door by that point.
This is embarrassing.
The door to the room was eventually pushed open to me, quickly making a run for it, but in consequence of my rush, something ripped.
"Oh.. no, no, no."
My heavy breathing was audible as my broken words came out of my lips, my hand covering the ripped bodice. Immediately, I was covered with a blazer, which made me look upward. "Here, let me help." Haruhi got me to my feet, my stomach twisting the rest of my organs out of place.
I thought I was over this.
She was quick, getting the two of us back into the room and into a changing section, separated only by a curtain. My body started to show the signs of nausea, almost like a cat trying to expel a hairball.
"Bring over a bag! Now!" Haruhi's hand stayed on the middle of my back, easing some of the pain, making me throw up once the bag was close enough to my mouth, while the strands of hair were moved behind my ears.
I thought it was all over. Why is it all coming back to me?
After what felt like twenty minutes, the pain subsided, finally able to take deep breaths, pulling myself back to reality. "We should get you a new uniform first. Wait here, okay?" I nodded at her words, my hands shaking as they tried to close the bag, not wanting to see what came out.
It didn't take Haruhi long to come back with an unlabeled shopping bag hanging from her arm and a bottle of water in her hand, as I looked up from the floor, holding her uniform jacket closer to my chest as she closed the curtain.
"How are you feeling?" She spoke softly to me, handing the open bottle to me. My eyes met hers as I took a small sip of water before I could respond jokingly with "Embarrassed, to say the least," along with a sigh of devastation, looking down at my own ruined uniform, knowing that I was being truthful. She soon sat down beside me, trying to catch my gaze again
"We don't have to talk about it, in all honesty. It happens to the best of us. I'm just glad you're feeling better. I could tell that took a lot out of you." I feel her hand lay on my shoulder, making me chuckle softly, "Yeah." I'd whisper.
“I will let you get dressed & then we can eat, it’ll bring some of that energy back."
I could hear the smile in her tone, her hand rubbing my shoulder for encouragement before getting up, leaving the space for me to change into another uniform that somehow fit better than the last. I took a breath, looking at the mirror attentively just to be sure that no drool or hair was out of place since this school really got to prioritize looks rather than education. I got the ripped dress inside the bag after folding the jacket, sliding the curtain slightly over to see not just the twins & Haruhi, as well as Mori, along with many new faces.
The space grew quiet as I walked my way over to sit between the twins, where there was an empty chair. With Mori in front of me, he was careful to help Haruhi with fixing me a plate, handing it over to me. "It's nice to see you again." He smiled, "Likewise." I smiled back before the twins could say, "You two know each other?" Their heads tilted in confusion, to which I nodded.
Two new faces still had my pale face in their minds, showing some worry with a mixture of confusion. Immediately, I stood up, taking a deep bow to apologize, "I'm so sorry for causing trouble!"
The dark-haired male across from me fixed his glasses before responding, "As long as no one outside of this club saw it, there should be no reason to apologize." While the blonde to his left simply smiled, "Don't worry about it, beautiful. Are you sure you're alright? Do you need to see the nurse? You are in very good hands, I can assure you."
"Rest assured, she'll be alright, Tamaki."
I sat myself back down before taking slow & small bites from the dish in front of me, before a slice of cake was slid over to me. I look over to Mori, seeing a shorter blonde, giving me a warm smile, "You can have that piece!" I was quick to smile politely, taking a bite from the slice of cake to taste.
It was all so good, I can't think of why it was all so overwhelming.
"Minami, you should join our club," Kaoru suggested outloud. "What club?"
"The host club, of course!" Tamaki was quick to stand up, reaching his hand out to me. "Would you like to be our first female host?"
"A hostess? What are you talking about?"
"Minami could be a part of the roster, Kyoya! Don't you see the vision?" Confusion crept up to my face as the two spoke, taking another bite of the savory dish, carefully followed by a sip of tea. My eyes automatically turned to Haruhi, seeing if she made any sense of this.
"Don't worry about that too much, you'll be just fine. It's harmless." She whispered to me. My confusion was still apparent as the two bickered, while the rest continued eating.
I didn't really consider joining a club, much less a Host Club.

Blueberry Muffins & Lattes
A Ouran High School Host Club Fan-fiction.
Summary: Within the lavish & wealthy, Sayaka Minami finds
friendship, resulting in the start of her healing journey.
Chapter One: Fragile Matters
My dad was pretty excited about it all when I left the house. I was officially a High School student at a school that only a few managed to get into with an academic scholarship.
"Welcome, Miss Minami, here we have your uniform & your class schedule. You might have to change quickly, your first lecture is in five minutes."
You could see the visible question mark on my face when I was given the stuffy uniform, rushing to the nearest bathroom to change as quickly as I could.
"I don't know how I'll make it to class in this dress."
The panic built up the closer I was to having my uniform on & out the office door, speed running my way to homeroom in a yellow dress & a white bow. It was slightly tight and uncomfortable, but it was all I was given. I'll live. Each hallway I passed was bigger & wider than the next, double-checking my schedule card, which caused me to stumble onto someone who got a hold of my arm & waist, breaking my potential fall.
"Are you alright?"
He was tall, with chiseled features that complemented his dark hair & worried eyes. "Yes, thank you." I mumble, my eyes glued to him. His voice made him all the more attractive.
"I'm sorry, but... Is there any way I can get to this classroom here? My lecture starts in three minutes." I was quick to point, almost making this an excuse to look at him some more.
"It will be a few steps ahead to your right, you won't miss it." He smiled a little while pointing to my destination, "Thank you so much... Mister?" I raised my brows, hoping for his name to come out.
"Morinozuka. Mori, for short." His smile was still there as I walked a little further in the opposite direction. I couldn't stop looking at him; he almost looked like a prince. I would definitely believe that, if it were true.
"Take care now, Miss." He took a small bow. At this point, I ran to the classroom door once it was in view.
"It's Minami! Thank you again!" I grinned, getting a good grip of the handle to open the tall door, revealing a classroom with most of my classmates already seated.
"We are so glad you could make it. Come." The teacher invites me in with a smile, and I soon stand quietly next to the podium. As my breathing regulated, I spotted a girl, one of the few who were looking down, as well as being the only one within them with the boy's uniform, lucky!
"Please, do introduce yourself." The teacher chirped, "I'm Minami Sayaka. I look forward to being your classmate for this school year. I hope we get along." Once I spoke my part, I took a bow, verifying my assigned seat, which was next to two familiar faces that looked back in possible disgust. Hard to tell if they think differently or not; their features are the exact same as when I last saw them.
"Your total will be ¥671.50." I would smile as he decided to pay cash for their order, making sure to give back a receipt while a coworker got their order ready. "Our lattes are actually really good-"
"No, thank you." Despite his tone being more emotionless & uninterested than most customers, it didn't stop me from taking a bow. As soon as those two were out the door, I could finally breathe. "You actually got their orders, you are so lucky!" Mei, my coworker, was quick to shake me around from the excitement she was feeling - as if she saw someone famous.
"What are you talking about?" Confusion was written all over my face. "The Hitachiin twins, aren't you going to Ouran High next semester?" Her eyes widened from the surprise - you could even call it shock. "Yeah, I got accepted, but..." I had never seen twins in my life, especially ones who just ordered muffins at a café. "You already have good luck written all over you now that you met them!" She squeaked.
I could hardly call it luck.
With a small breath, I took a seat; both pairs of eyes were still on me, which activated my panic once again. The staring increased with each lecture that passed; some people were actually staring because of them staring at me. I can definitely feel the pressure. Pressure, one I know all too well.
I still don't understand why my coworker was such a fan. What is there to like besides their looks? They don't seem all that interesting. Not that I know them, but their stare & whispers aren't so welcoming.
The bell for lunch finally got me out of my thoughts, but as quickly as I stood up was as quickly as I sat back down, faced with the infamous twins. My eyes were blinking, waiting for something to happen, maybe some miracle to not be in this situation right now?
"We'd like to be friends." One of them spoke, "Friends?"
"We can exchange numbers. Here." He hands me his phone to add my number while the other one follows, "Mine too."
It almost felt like they couldn't wait for me to finish typing "Are you busy after class?" They spoke in unison.
To deny them almost felt like a crime; my eyes kept looking at the brothers, scanning side to side, all the while humming softly, thinking of my next response.
They were rude at first, but somehow they look a lot less approachable with their uniforms on. "Yes, but one condition." They looked at one another before nodding. I quickly stood up and whispered in both of their ears, "Tell no one that I have a job, okay?" I smiled awkwardly at the two.
"Okay." They shrugged, looking at one another this time, "We won't."
Well, that was painfully easy. Regardless of just now speaking, it was almost as if we had already spoken before, a silent pact of secrecy almost. At least that is what I hope, since my scholarship depends on this pact.
"I'm Kaoru, He's Hikaru." Although it'll be hard to tell, at least I know their names. Most of the pressure I was feeling was from the other girls in class who lingered, glaring, almost jealous, except for one.
"So, who is the girl in the boy's uniform?" I ask out of curiosity, tilting my head in her general direction.
"That's Haruhi." Hikaru answered, Kaoru followed, "Haruhi Fujioka." After a good few minutes of silent understanding, something hit them with shock, as if their secret was revealed; one they were hiding poorly at that.
"How did you know she was a girl?" They had leaned in, the question being whispered to me, immediately answered with a shrug. Leaning over my seat to take a good look at her once more, only to find her staring back at me.
