After he'd had blood, he looked…different. Less sick, less human, sharper. His eyes had a red ring around them, and he was sure they hadn't before. His hair, dark as a raven's wing, shone even in the bad yellow lighting. He looked…beautiful.

Opening his mouth, he examined his teeth. There they were, sharp and monstrous.

Too much, too soon. He had to sleep, stained mattress or not.

A voice, sudden and sharp, came into his thoughts.

"Stay quiet."

He could almost feel the breath along his neck, but when he turned, no one was there. He looked at the cool man, cool like jade, and saw he was staring directly at him.
