It is!!!Ā Oh, Iām so glad that Author decided to leave that with us, I really liked that story.
But also, PLEASE, let me remind all of you to Treat Your Authors Kindly.Ā They work so very hard.Ā If you cannot be positive about their efforts, then remain silent and back out.
Writing is HARD.Ā Not just the crafting of a plot, the development of characters, the various editing passes, the rewrites -- there is also the uncertainty and fear of putting it out there in front of a bunch of judgmental strangers, there is the struggle to find the time and mental spoons to physically writeĀ in the middle of your busy life.Ā There is the wholeĀ finishĀ what you startedĀ (especially in an epic work such as this), when the first bloom of excitement wears off and then there are chapters and chapters still to go to verbally paint your entire internal movie so that others can see it, too.Ā The often unrewarding slog of the middle.Ā That weird thing that makes you just want to stop just before the end.
There are so many obstacles to overcome before a fic appears, tidy and complete on AO3, and the voracious fanfic-reading machine that we are as a collective often loses sight of that, of the individual author and their blood, sweat and tears.
A fic is a gift to the fandom, as is any other creative work.Ā Please treat it as you would any other gift given to you.Ā Respect the giver, respect the gift, do not critique unless it is specifically asked of you.

Summary: Ā Wei Wuxian is down on his luck.
Heās probably the only legit medium in the city of Lotus, able to contact all manner of dearly deceased spirits and gaggles of ghosts. Still, he makes his living off of bunk palm readings and crystal ball tricks, and itās barely enough to keep him going. Wei Wuxian is broke. And, heās about to be very down on his luck. A plague of suspicious hauntings brings him to the attention of the Bureau of Investigation, but he has no idea how involved in it he will be until he meetsā¦
Lan Wangji is the youngest detective in the Bureau, with one of the highest closure rates within recent yearsā records. Heās sharp and obsessive, which lends well to his work with investigating. The one thing he canāt account for is ghosts, and heās a constant skeptic when it comes to the question of their presenceā¦that is, until, he meets Wei Wuxian. Theyāre thrown together by way of crossing paths in an investigation, but after Lan Wangjiās eyes are opened to the fact that his culprit might not be fully of the flesh, he finds Wei Wuxian more indispensable than he ever thought he would.
