Dating Donnie (2016) would include:
warnings: attempted suicide and depression
you meet in the ally beside a library
he sneaks books in and out and you’re hopelessly lost in Brooklyn
you notice the book in his hands before you realize the obvious
“The Oddessy, that’s a great story.”
Donnie waits for you to run away from what he is
“Have you read it before?” Is your response to seeing him instead
“I think I still have my ‘kid’ version somewhere… I can bring it to you if you want. It’s nice to have it for a side by side comparison.” You offer a sweet smile.
Donnie looks at you like you’re the strange one
But you also love greek mythology and nothing will stop you from sharing it from anyone who will listen
you two meet up all the time (in the same spot) to exchange books and ideas and thoughts
it’s your own little book club
you show him your favorite books, and he reads them earnestly
he learns more about you through the books than talking to you
one time you show up, no book, just sitting quietly
you smile big when you see him
“Tell me about you,” You ask, giving him your full attention
you let him talk, he’s shy at first, but you’re so enthused about what he has to say, he can’t help but talk
he talks about everything, from his brothers to his latest project, to his thoughts on the most recent book you’ve given him
that he loves the fall but hates the snow
he really doesn’t like fighting but knows that he has to protect
sometimes he’s afraid that he won’t be smart enough to save everyone
sometimes he’s tired of being the smart person
you’re the emotion to his logic
you two really are yin and yang
you ask to meet his family one day, not expecting the ‘yes’ that comes
it’s a little nerve-wracking, but you’re not afraid,
Donnie has spoken so much about his family that you know them and recognize them the moment they come into view
They’re a bit much all at once, and you go silent
which baffles Donnie, you’re always talkative
but he hides his concern until he can ask you about it when you’re alone
you don’t know what to tell him, you go quiet again, tears forming in your eyes
he just pulls you into his arms and holds you, reaffirming that you’re okay and that you’re safe
which makes you cry for a different reason
you’re both in his lab chair when it happens
he picks up a book and starts reading it out loud to you
it’s Twilight of all books
you laugh and wipe away your tears
eventually, you get used to being around his brothers, though you don’t say much to anyone but Donnie and Leo
eventually, Mikey learns you don’t like loudness, and tones it down until you’re really good friends
he’s a nerd like Donnie but has a thirst for action
Donnie’s use of his hands amazes you
how can he work on something so small and delicate?
Something that even you’d break
you read out loud while he works
it helps with your fear of talking, and you get to do something that you love
until through that, you both realize that you’re dyslexic
which is fine, just annoying to you
Donnie uses his skills to make you a charm bracelet that is so beautiful and delicate that you cry
there’s a turtle charm, a pair of glasses, a microchip, and of course, a book, and to your shock, a greek bust
“You like the greeks, I just thought…”
You hug him tightly and thank him a million times over
you also spend a lot of time in the Lair with Donnie, just hanging out
until you don’t show up one day because of course, you get kidnapped
Donnie finds you easily, he has you microchipped after all
“You put a tracker on me!” you scream at him as he rescues you
“Is this really the time?” He complains, taking out another foot soldier
You’re not mad for too long, it’s hard to be away from him
in all honesty, you were so scared, and it was easy to focus on that rather than the danger
once Donnie realizes that he softens up and starts to teach you how to defend yourself
you love a single katana, surprisingly
he laughs when you tell him it reminds you of a lightsaber
which ensures a Star Wars marathon that everyone joins in on
you feel at home for the first time in your life
you and Donnie cuddle a lot
you’re normally in his lap while he works in the lab
until you’re too distracting and want more attention
you both learn Latin together which is a blast
flashcards, flashcards everywhere
He always falls into depression at night, when the light fades
you always comfort him, you know what it’s like
there’s a reason he hates the winter
you walk together through the darkness of the night
not every day is perfect, but there are less bad ones
it’s nice to have a friend
and someone to keep you warm in the winter you’re from the south. you don’t do ‘snow’
he loves holding you at night, he always sleeps better
you don’t mind. you feel safe in his arms
your first kiss is awkward because both of your glasses knock into each other
you laugh and take yours and his off and kiss him like you mean it
he melts into you and holds you close
he’s a really good kisser
which isn’t fair because he always leaves you lightheaded
he always knows what you want and what you need
he’ll never admit that it’s because of all of the books that you’ve had him read
more than anything you just want to be saved from yourself
and he does just that, and you do the same for him
you find the song and cry for a good solid hour
Donnie loves the song too
A/N: give it a listen and cry with me
Donnie still insists that you’re perfect, medication or not
you both have a hard time believing it
but you both have each other, so it’s not so hard to believe
“Don’t leave me, please. I love you”
you’re standing on a rooftop edge
Donnie doesn’t pull you back, he just holds his hand out
you step down, away from the edge and crumple to the ground, sobbing in hysteria
he holds you tight and takes you back to your apartment
he’s not letting go of you
he never holds it against you
you get better, you open up, slowly, you stop hiding
when you feel like you can’t talk to Donnie, you talk to Splinter
he, also, never judges you
he knows how much you mean to his son
years go by, and you both heal
you’re now an amalgamation of two broken souls fused together to be whole again
there’s nothing that you wouldn’t do for him, and he, you
again, you didn’t expect his “yes”
This is by far the longest. I got a lot goin’ on guys. Anyway, I hope you liked it! I love you guys and your feedback. It keeps me going. I am so grateful to you all.
