Voldemort had never thought much about Christmas, about the festivities, the forced displays of affection and love, yet the festivities proved to be a good opportunity to further cement his ties with the pureblood families he had already swayed to his side, and so, he had made it a point to accept the invitation of those he deemed worthy of his attendance.

When Bella’s owl brought him an envelope bearing the Lestrange crest, his lips curled in a knowing smile. Bella had served him exceptionally well in the past year, hence it was only appropriate for him to indulge her even if by now, her ties to him couldn’t have been any stronger, for her devotion to him exceeded even that to her own husband.

He wasn’t surprised at the exuberant reception, at the way Bella appeared to visibly restrain herself from dragging him into her manor the very moment she laid her eyes on him, for it had been the same every time he had graced her with a visit.
