hi everyone! i hope you're all doing well. life's been super busy lately.. but i'm hoping to make my full, proper return within the next few weeks after i get moved back into my apartment! however! i might post some starters here in a bit and get started on being at least semi-active again :)

Madeleine wasn't a big coffee person.. but desperate times called for desperate measures. She had a hard time sleeping last night. She wasn't too sure as to why, but she supposed it probably had something to do with the people outside of her shop. They'd become increasingly frequent in recent weeks, and they'd been growing bolder with it all, too.
Still, the run rose and with it so did she. She had a cup in the morning when she first crawled out of bed, cringing at the taste of it as it moved over her tongue and down her throat. Her second followed after.. and her third. She can't remember how many cups she drank just to keep her eyes open through the night, working on a new dress to display in her shops window.
The stars were out now, and she stood outside of her shop, staring up at them. She took a sip of the coffee in her hands, still warm from when she'd gotten it a few minutes before. She still found herself exhausted, but she kept her eyes open regardless.
She knitted her brows together, watching the man across the street. It wasn't just any man, she noticed. He was from the theater troupe a few blocks over. An.. interesting group, to say the least— but who was she to judge?

Claudia found solace in her journal. From the first few days of her new life as a vampire, she found peace in writing in those pages. She'd lost count of how many journals she'd written in by now, all the pages from front to back covered in her story. She didn't want to spare any detail. She didn't know what she'd do with them, either. Sometimes she would go back and read the older ones— the ones from New Orleans— and wonder where everything went wrong.
She sat backstage, listening as Armand directed the actors onstage from his seat in the audience. She scribbled in her journal, chewing at her lip. Today was good. It felt good to have a coven. A coven without Lestat. But no one could know about what she did to him.
She looked up from the page, and she nearly jumped at the sight of Santiago. He moved so quietly she'd only just noticed he was there. She shut the journal and held it in her lap, looking up at him from her chair. "Didn't hear you come in." Claudia said quietly, just loud enough for him to hear.

"Why would I do that?" He replied through soft laughter, brushing his hair from his eyes and behind his ears. He looked at her innocently— as if he wasn't a wolf posing as a sheep for mortals to see— and smiled. "I'm not so cruel, chérie. You think so little of me.." He murmured, faking disappointment.
He'd be more worried if she thought of him as anything else but exactly what he was, but it wouldn't stop him from trying to tease her a bit.
