“Hey now, I have epic tastes I’ll have you know.” Lucas informed the man with a laugh as he continued to bust moves on the floor. “I’ll just make the most of it then because seeing this side of you is fun.”

“You have questionable tastes.” Danny corrected the other, but then again his were no better, he would just argue that they were to make him seem cooler. “Hey- I’m always fun, who said I wasn’t fun?”

“Not sure I totally believe that, but sure,” she shrugged, trying to recall times Danny had seemed to spend forever getting ready. “You sure? Pizza is so much better than chores. Mostly for me,” Dawn whined, already knowing she wouldn’t have won but she had wanted to test her luck irregardless. “Hmm I dunno– clip in some extensions, get you a T necklace and you could fool me,” she teased. “You might not look like him but you give off some early 2000s Zefron energy. In a good way I promise.”

“Tomorrow morning, we’ll share the bathroom and I’ll set a timer and we’ll see who’s right once and for all.” Danny told the other, pointing at his housemate, an expression on his face letting her know that the challenge was set and he would not be backing down. “Exactly. You do my chores and tonight, I’ll buy us pizza.” Danny let out a snort, “Okay, I don’t think I could pull off the extensions, but I think my life would be complete if you bought me a T necklace.” Danny ran a hand through his hair and pulled a pose, “Oh really? Am I teen heart throb levels of attractiveness?”

“Yeah, you do. Decent being the operative word there.” And Lucas wasn’t sure he’d go so far as to talk the song decent as such. Catchy; sure. A snort left him though. “And this is your persuasion huh? Well at least I know for the future I guess if I ever have a deep seated need to get you to dance.”

“Maybe it’s you who has the poor taste.” Danny pointed out to the other, “It can be my persuasion when I’m in a good enough mood, but seriously, don’t expect it to become a regular thing. Because it won’t be.”

“It won’t eat you if you shoo it properly!” She replied, the worry still spread across her face. “How is that fair? You’re the one that saw it first. Finders keepers, right?” 

“How do you know? What experience have you had with shooing in the past?” Danny asked the other, “I don’t think finders keepers applies to this situation, given you know- it’s a wild animal and I have no plans on taking it home as a pet.”

“Consider me and my pretty face relieved,” he simply chuckled back, Dallas’ brain barely registering the compliment. Was there any need to think twice about it? He was too oblivious to realize. “Let’s just say it involved me and a glass door. I imagine it was pretty hilarious for anyone who witnessed it, but not so hilarious for me nor my broken nose.”

“You-... ran into a glass door? Didn’t you?” Danny guessed, trying to hold back his chuckles and disguise them as a cough as a few escaped. “I imagine it was pretty comical to witness, the outcome not so comical however.” He added, moving closer to look at the others face, inspecting his nose, “I have to say, you can’t tell however, doesn’t seem to cause any offence when look at your face.”

“If people like me wrote them, they’d be scientifically accurate,” Wes countered. “Though I guess that is kind of hard, given I don’t understand a lot of how people’s powers work. Yours I have no clue about, for instance.”

“But if they were scientifically accurate you wouldn’t get the viewers, Muggles aren’t going to know or be interested in the facts. They just want drama and to see people fly and punch walls.” He continued, a smirk falling onto his face at the others words. “You and me both man, a lot of the time I just hope for the best when it comes to my own powers.” He chuckled. “Have you not noticed that a lot of the time my magic goes horribly wrong and I don’t even attempt reality warping most of the time. That’s a whole other area I don’t want to delve into too much.” 

“Danny you can’t cheat in an arcade game,” Aiden said, “I’m just that good.”

“You can totally cheat at arcade games, if you know the right way to beat the system. Or you have some sort of ability that cheats the system for you.” 

“Hey, you can just run your hands through your hair and be good to go. This–” she gestured to her hair and makeup, “–takes a lot of time. I’m a straight up goblin in the morning without all this effort put in.” Dawn eyed his outstretched hand. “Can I reverse the house chores into pizza?” At his suggestion her eyes seemed to light up, “Absolutely! If we’re doing that iconic number we need to put on a proper show,” Dawn insisted. “If you really don’t want to end up in falsetto the whole song, I can take Gabs it’s no problem I promise.”

“I’m sorry- do you really think that this is accomplished by simply ‘running my hands through my hair’” Danny scoffed, loudly, shaking his head at the other. “It takes me just as much time to do my hair and look presentable then it does for you to get ready, this whole ready in two seconds malarkey is all an illusion.” Danny shook his head at the other, “You can’t Uno reverse this, you said chores and now you’re doing my chores.” He couldn’t help but beam, because he knew they all had to take it in turns to keep their house from looking like an absolute sty, but he really hated doing chores. “I mean you look more like Vanessa Hudgens then I do- not that I look like Zac Efron in any shape or form. I just don’t want to make people’s ears bleed with trying to reach that level of high.”

A snort of laughter left Lucas. “Man… I did not expect that to be your tastes. I’m not disappointed, just caught off guard.” Lucas admitted, happy to bop along with it. “Though you’re right, I didn’t expect to see you dancing. I think that’s what shocked me more.”

“What- you mean to tell me that I don’t look like the kind of guy who can enjoy some decent pop music?” Danny commented with a laugh, “She’s good, man. Her album Emotion is a classic. As for the dancing, with the right persuasion I can make an exception.”

“Well that’s ridiculous. I think if I was a vampire, you guys would be the first to know,” PJ said, “I do however, have a job that requires me to work mostly at night and I have to sleep sometime right?”

“Hey, nothing is ridiculous in this town. A lot of weird shit happens so it wouldn’t surprise me if someone around here had fangs.” Danny commented, “But what if you were just really good at covering it up because you didn’t want us to know- in fact, all the things you’re saying right now is exactly what a vampire would say to throw someone off their scent.” Danny continued, making a motion with his hand to gesture he was watching the other. “I guess you’re right, I’m still suspicious though. Not going to get my neck too close to your face.”

“I don’t know what to tell you, but that’s not how black holes work,” Wes sighed. “Nothing on sci-fi shows is accurate anymore.”

“Nothing? Oh come on there’s got to be a little truth in them.” Danny commented, “I mean, in my head the people who write those shows are either people like me or people like you who are around people with powers and stuff on the daily.”

“On a scale of one to ten- how much do I look like a drowned rat?” Danny couldn’t help but ask, trying to push his soaked hair up and away from his face. “I was going to bring a jacket with me this morning too, told myself I didn’t need it. So maybe this is my fault.”

“You know, any other time I would have to be a lot more drunk then I am now to be convinced to dance. But Carly Rae Jepsen’s Call Me Maybe is just a weakness of mine.” Danny commented, dancing to the music that seemed to be blasting round the club. “I’m not even ashamed, so I’m not going to call it a guilty pleasure. I’m proud to say I love this song.”

“Shit-... fuck... Just.. Bastard!” Danny exclaimed, throwing the remote down in defeat, having to step away from the machine and not look too hard at what he’d imagine would be Aiden’s smug face. “I don’t know when and I don’t know how, but I’m going to prove that you cheated.”

“You know I’m surprised you were the one who brought this up.” Danny commented looking to the other, “Was half thinking you had turned vampire at some stage and that you could only come out at night. Glad to see that I was wrong and that my neck is safe from any late night cravings of yours.”

“Wait- what?” Lily asked, a stunned look immediately appearing over her face as she stopped in her tracks. “What do you mean? Why wouldn’t you say something ten minutes ago? Go shoo it away!” 

"I didn’t say anything because I knew you’d go tell me to shoo it, I don’t want to be eaten by a bear. In fact that activity is very low on the list of things I want to happen in my life.” He told the other, “Maybe we should rock, paper, scissors to see who has to be the shooer.” 

“Pay you?” Dawn scoffed in mock offense,“Isn’t my undying loyalty and friendship payment enough?” she added with a theatrical bat of her eyelashes at him. “How about I do your house chores for a month? I’d say that’s a pretty good deal,” she then compromised. At Danny’s follow up she let out a little hum, thinking it over. “Okay so I was totally ready to go Gabriella because– obvs, but now that you’ve giving me the choice I so wanna be Troy. He’s got the best songs in the series anyways.”

“Don’t sound so offended, I never said it had to be cash. You know I can be bought in slices of pizza.” Danny told the other with a small tut, “Actually, no- it’s not. Blame that on you hogging the bathroom for too long in the mornings. You lose points for little things like that.” Danny smirked at the others offer though and held out his hand, “You’ve got yourself a deal.” Danny snorted, clearing his throat, “I’m not sure I can get my range as high as hers but I’ll give it a shot. We should do Go Your Own Way - I feel like we can bring the dramatics for that.”
