In August 2010, director Dean Fleischer-Camp and writer/actress Jenny Slate, released a lovely stop-motion short about an anthropomorphic seashell with a single googly eye and very tiny shoes. Now, 12 years later the feature-length hybrid movie Marcel the Shell with Shoes On premieres in select theaters in June.

Annecy provided a first look at director Peggy Holmes’ Luck, from Skydance Animation, which premieres worldwide on Apple TV+ on August 5.

Luck centers on a young girl named Sam Greenfield, who believes she’s the unluckiest person in the world. When she stumbles into the never-before-seen Land of Luck, Sam sets out on a quest to bring some good luck home for her best friend. But with humans not allowed in this world, her only chance is to team up with the magical creatures who live there.
