I absolutely have no idea with what’s going on in the recent Frozen III teasers from D23 — but I am absolutely overjoyed that we’re getting another movie. 🤧😭
You know, That Diva of an evil ice queen seen at the end of the D23 Frozen 3 footage reminds me a lot of the early concepts for evil Elsa for Frozen 1 back when it was a more faithful adaptation of The Snow Queen.
Like the way she carries herself and the brief glimpse of her personality just has me thinking that maybe they decided to revisit some of those ideas and concepts for this new villainous Ice Queen.
A clip from Frozen 3 was shown at D23, and the design of the new villain kinda feels like the Mirror Shards from the original story? She might just be ice-themed, but she has a very shard-like motif
Very interesting. I wonder if the creative team will try to incorporate some themes from The Snow Queen that didn't make it into the original Frozen into the new movie.
Though if I remember correctly, they said that in the original movie, they saw Hans as the equivalent of the mirror from The Snow Queen, because he acts like a mirror to the people he manipulates, by observing who they are and then telling them just what they want to hear or what will make them do what he wants.
At any rate, another thing I find interesting about what we've seen of Frozen III is that it looks as if it might be borrowing some of the plot structure of Aladdin and the King of Thieves. It seems likely at this point that the movie will start with Anna and Kristoff's wedding, only for the wedding to be crashed by the new villain, forcing the characters to postpone it while they undertake their new all-important quest. But I'll bet that in the end, after everything is resolved, the wedding will finally take place and go off without a hitch, and this will be the movie's finale. Just like Aladdin and Jasmine's wedding.
Since Frozen II shamelessly borrowed Kristoff's "trying to propose to Anna" subplot from Bernard's "trying to propose to Bianca" subplot in The Rescuers Down Under, why shouldn't the new movie borrow ideas from still more '90s Disney sequels?

Frozen III: Transcript of the Extended Version of “Frozen Heart” and the Trailer! 💙

Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell sang a song, the extended ver. of Frozen Heart, and a trailer was also shown, with the video being leaked everywhere lol. My friend @frozenheart-666 and I listened to it many times, and we eventually managed to get the lyrics down here.

Hiya Frozen/Kristanna fandom!! How we doin’, how we feelin’? I kinda wanna throw up, but we’ll chalk it up to excitement and not crippling anxiety hehehe
I have some thoughts about the sneak peak and some personal musings, if you so care to read:
- The overall color scheme? Gorgeous! Pink trees, pink dress(es), pink flowers, pink sky. As a pink girlie I loveeeee the pink tones.
- Anna’s wedding dress? STUNNING! I love the flower details and the scalloped edging on the neckline. She looks so pretty I cannot cope 🥹
- “I found them! They were doing mouth to mouth stuff!” - 10/10, no notes, this killed me (and I would sure hope they were off somewhere making out because they just got MARRIED gosh give them some alone time!!!!)
- Anna’s little nervous outburst about bustling her dress and Olaf calling Kristoff a “terrible husband” and his response of “it’s my first day, Olaf, give me a break.” - I don’t know what the lead up to all of this is (obviously) but cut the guy a little slack. Signed, someone who has assisted with bustling multiple wedding dresses and recently spent 15 minutes on her hands and knees in a floor length gown with 4 other people trying to find the anchors that the tailor had hidden incredibly well.
- Where have Kristoff and Sven disappeared to when Anna, Elsa, and Olaf come face to face with this new villain/mystery person? I’m assuming this is a *very* heavily edited sneak peak for the intent of showing *something* at D23, but I really hope this isn’t a repeat of Frozen 2 where Anna and Kristoff were separated for most of the movie and the little flickers of doubt were creeping in for both of them. I just want my babies to be happy and together 🥹
I’m very excited about Frozen 3 and cannot believe we’re already almost there (this next year plus is going to fly, mark my words!).
Admittedly, when Frozen 3 was announced, I was pretty apprehensive about Anna and Kristoff’s wedding (and even their future children, if they’re ever included in the franchise) being shown on screen because I felt very possessive about the visions I created in my own head. I even had concerns that these seeing these things in real life instead of just my imagination would hinder my creative process re: writing or invalidate my previous works. I have some very specific headcanons that I didn’t want to be “ruined” by actual canon, which sounds very selfish in retrospect even though it was coming from a place of emotion and attachment. But now that it’s here and we have some pretty concrete visuals, I feel so much more peace about it - almost like the fear just dissipated and those thoughts never existed.
And even if Anna and Kristoff don’t get the screen time or scenes that I hope they do, I can always just write it up myself, right? ;)
Ok,first,i loved this first design,even if we cant see it complete yet.I still confused if her hair´s dark or purple...
Now, what I think…
They seem to have taken advantage of the villain plot that Elsa should have originally had, and now they're giving us an evil version of what she would be. But now adapted to a level beyond a simple Ice Queen, using the Northern Lights and the spirits as a reference for a more upgraded version. There's also the risk that this villain might have been the fifth original spirit.
This could be a success, or a flop. I think only after watching more trailers and the movie itself will the fandom decide if a third movie was really necessary.
Now, speaking of fandom itself… I wouldn't be surprised if they start shipping the villain with Elsa, I myself could do that BUT… I'm controlling myself until we have more information, after all, there's a risk that she might even be related to Elsa, like an aunt, etc.
And why do I think that? Because it would further explain the origins of Elsa's powers being SPECIFICALLY ice, not simply because she was graced as the fifth spirit. After all, although I accepted the plot of Frozen 2, I always questioned why specifically ice as the fifth spirit. I think the third film could explore more what the Northern Lights are to explain this choice of element with more solid details.
