rose haters in her tag saying her life only revolves around the doctor arrrrghhhhh
lololol oh lord .. i saw .. how she was the companion whose life only revolved around the doctorĀ
iām pretty sure thatās true .. since we saw her adventures with him and all that .. like every other companion
but like every other companion .. iām pretty sure we also knew of her past (lousy boyfriend, dead-end job/no job, gymnastics, loyal boy/friend, loud caring mother, no A-levels, council estate brat, father who died in an accident)
and itās not like we ever heard of any of that again (use her gymnastics to save the world, lost her best friend to another universe, visited/spoke to her mum whenever possible, met her father and saw him be a hero, found herself enjoying the life of adventure and being good at it, the bad wolf, the valiant child, the stuff of legend)
of course, when she was trapped in the other universe we never ever heard of what she did there or of her family/friends (traveled multiverses trying to stop the darkness, mickeyās gran passed away, jackie and pete had another child, she worked for torchwood, met different companions and encouraged them to find the doctor, created a makeshift time machine to find the right universe)
no .. she was a one-dimensional character .. the worst companion .. the worst ever POINT BLANK!!!!!!
like, yea ā¦ they are right, cause rose tylerās life did revolve around the doctor because that is the basis of the show (how these companions interact with the doctor) ā¦ but to take away all her development and her agency and to say it was all done for a man she loved and who loved her back!!! (people tend to forget that part) ā¦ TAKE A STEP FUCKING BACK AND APPRECIATE HER STORY FOR WHAT IT WAS ā¦ ITāS ABOUT TIME WE START APPRECIATING OUR FEMALE CHARACTERS WHO HAVE LOVE STORIES LIKE THIS BECAUSE WHEN A MALE CHARACTER HAS THE SAME STORY WHERE THEIR LIFE REVOLVES AROUND THEIR LOVE INTEREST THEY ARE PRAISED AND WORSHIPPED AND DISCUSSED AS IF THEY ARE THE BEST THING SINCE SLICE BREAD ā¦ get over yourselves ā¦ all these companions revolve around the main character cause thatās the basis of the show but some are more fully fleshed out and actually can live outside the gravity of the doctor and still be strong characters on their own ā¦ and iām pretty sure that describes rose (torchwood agent and universe hopping) tyler or martha (unit/torchwood/freelance agent and medical doctor) jones or donna (happily married and has faith in herself) nobleĀ
can we just put aside petty arguments and negativity and start just talking about our faves and what we like about them???? like, i feel i talk less about rose tyler than her haters do and that is honestly something they need to work onĀ
