plot situation - sage and feraline interaction

sage de silva gets akumatized at some point, and-

the fight goes as normal. elytra notices that feraline seems a bit more focused than usual, but she's kind of preoccupied at the moment. so the thought process is kind of just "dodge that hit, stop the akuma, save that civilian, oh hey wait that akumatized kid is also my crush's little sister, isn't she-? hmm, very stressful, anyways back to the fight-"

eventually they purify the akuma, and everything gets fixed. and then elytra glances over at her partner, and- feraline's just. being so gentle and sweet to this kid. promising her that it's okay, that no one's mad at her- helping her up, something soft in her eyes. (almost painfully soft-) all easy reassurance and a quiet comforting tone that seems almost instinctive. she nudges the girl back towards the sidewalk, telling her to go home and get some rest.

and elytra's just staring at her, caught completely off guard. because- she's usually the one to make sure the akuma victim was okay afterwards; feraline was usually a bit too blunt, still coming off the adrenaline from a fight- but. now she's seeing feraline interacting with this kid, and- something inside her is just melting, going all soft and fond at the sight of it. <3

plot situation: chapa and elytra interaction

at some point, chapa - in civilian form - runs into elytra.

and both of them currently have crushes on this version of the other, they are both somewhat flustered, but-

mika feels much more confident in the mask than out of it. plus she knows chapa a bit better at this point, they're a bit closer, they've talked a lot more- so she's handling this interaction without too much awkwardness.

but. chapa, on the other hand?

chapa is suddenly realizing that- oh. oh no. their miraculous give them both a slight height boost- and she's not transformed right now, but her partner is, so- the brilliant sweet pretty clever brave ladybug hero is now suddenly Taller Than Her. and also using hints of that soft voice she usually uses when checking on distressed civilians - does she look distressed?? well- she's frozen in place and she feels way too warm and she can't get any words unstuck from her throat, can't manage any of the usual bravado or snarky quips, because- this isn't elytra exasperatedly pulling feraline out of danger, this is elytra physically shielding chapa de silva from falling debris- and helping her up, and asking if she was okay, and- Why Is Her Hand Still On Her Arm and Why Is Chapa's Brain Short-Circuiting and- quick, say something, say something- stop being weird-

chapa proceeds to awkwardly blurt out something or other, yank her arm back, and run off to go transform behind a building and join the fight.

(plagg is laughing at her the entire way to that building and she's just going "shut up shut up shut up Shut Up-" the entire way. <3)

plot situation: bose getting akumatized

at some point before bose has a miraculous, he gets akumatized. it's after his stepdad was annoyed with him for something or other, and- it wouldn't normally have gotten to him so much, but-

he had already had a rough day. and chapa had seemed distracted, not paying much attention to him- (she was still recovering emotionally from the last akuma attack the day before, it had been a hard one, but- he doesn't know that.)

and the twins hadn't been at school either- (mika had been sleeping off the exhaustion from the day before, and miles had skipped, both to interrogate her about how weird she had been lately and to make sure she didn't have an anxiety attack about missing class.)

and then- well. his stepdad was never really happy with him, never really proud of him in the way he constantly ached for, but- this was just. bitter disappointment. sharp and cold, biting and mean. and it hurt. it just- it hurt, and he was curled up in the corner of his room trying not to cry, and-

well. his stepdad hadn't intentionally made him that upset, okay, he hadn't planned on this, but- he's getting closer to getting the miraculous, the heroes are getting worn down- he's close. he needs to take every opportunity he has, he reasons to himself. can't let personal connections get in the way-

so when the akuma starts pulling in the direction of his stepson's room, he lets it. a silent apology to his wife, but- it'll be worth it. it'll- it'll be worth it, if this works.

and bose trying to fight it, because- no, he doesn't- he doesn't want that, but- he's so tired. mind swirling with hurt and loneliness, and- he only lasts half a minute before giving in.

so. elytra and feraline go to fight the akuma- and then they realize who it is. and something about the specific things the akuma's saying, something about the powerset- it's all hinting towards what had been going through bose's mind when the akuma found him. and both of them have a moment where their heart just drops, a thousand emotions squeezing in their chest, because- oh. bose…. :(

and then they win, elytra purifies the akuma, and-

it's bose again. standing there in front of them, blinking in dawning horror, taking in the situation and looking like he wants to curl in on himself and start crying, and-

both of them staring at him. wanting so badly to stay with him, but- that's not what he needs. he doesn't know them, they're heroes and they're about to detransform, and they just- they have to go. both of them. they- have to just leave him there.

but less than five minutes later, because chapa's never been good at waiting in situations like this - and bose doesn't need swellview's heroes right now, but he does need chapa, and there is Literally Nothing that could keep her away for any longer than that-

chapa, back in her civilian self, all but running back to where bose is. barely managing to muster up a halfhearted cover about seeing the last second of a livestream, barely putting any effort into explaining how she got here that fast-

but it doesn't matter, because then bose is staring at her with wide eyes, like he can't believe she actually came looking for him- (as if there was anything in her entire life more certain than the fact that she would always come looking for him, did he actually think she wouldn't-?)

and chapa's still stumbling over her words, but- suddenly bose is clinging to her, shaking against her like she's the only thing keeping him steady. so she wraps her arms around him, hugging him as close as she can.

and after a few minutes of that, she starts realizing that it's getting late, but- she doesn't want to go home, and she does not want bose to go home, so- well. the twins and their parents probably aren't home right now, but she knows mika's window is on the first floor, and it's always unlocked-

chapa dragging bose a few blocks down to the macklins' house, and then sitting there in mika's windowseat, bose curled up next to her, finally letting himself fall apart. but it's fine, she's got him- bose sobbing in her arms and chapa just holding him as tightly as possible. biting her tongue against apologies after the first few muttered against his shoulder, because- she wasn't the one who said all that to him, she wasn't the one who got him akumatized- (but if she had been paying more attention-) (and she cuts that thought off before it can start festering. it's fine. she's fine. bose is fine.) and she just holds him impossibly tighter.

and meanwhile. mika has been texting bose and calling him since the second she detransformed. but his phone was dead, and it hadn't occurred to bose or chapa that they should charge it. so mika is extremely stressed and feeling extremely guilty. and she ends up grabbing miles and going around trying to find out where bose is- and they can't find him.

eventually they have to go home, and-

oh. there he is. in mika's room, teary-eyed and curled up next to chapa.

and the twins are so relieved, immediately rushing to them- and miles is blurting out that they heard what happened, they've been looking everywhere for him- and mika's rambling about how she couldn't find him anywhere, is he okay, she's so sorry- and no one's even sure what she's apologizing for - not being at school? not being able to find him?

but no one mentions it because- they're all here. and they all end up curled around bose somehow. chapa and bose end up spending the night, chapa muttering sleepily that her parents won't care, and easily grabbing bose's phone to text his stepdad that he's spending the night - after reluctantly backspacing on the paragraph of threats that she wants to send - and then tossing bose the phone back.

mika falls asleep first. (she is so. So Tired. she needs Sleep and Rest, the girl is Exhausted-)

and then miles, and bose and chapa are starting to drift off as well-

bose surrounded by his friends, with the cold ache in his chest finally fading out into a soft warm glow -

chapa with mika's blanket tossed over her and everyone all warm and sleepy around her, bose tucked securely against her side, and-

and that's when bose tiredly registers that- that's purring. that sound is purring. chapa. are you purring. what. and chapa distantly processes that- oh, great. cat miraculous side effect, great- and she would have thought of a better lie, but. she is currently Half-Asleep. so: "no. m'not purring. stupid. i just. do that. that's a thing i do. 's not purring. shut up." "oh, okay." a yawn. "night, chapa." "night, bose." and bose fully accepts that chapa the normal human being can purr. and he doesn't question this again until the eventual end-of-plot identity reveals. <3

plot situation: poopsie & bose

so. vice mayor willard also akumatizes his own daughter at one point. it's before bose has a miraculous. most likely within the same couple of weeks/months after bose was akumatized.

and there's a bit of internal conflict from her dad, because - that's his daughter. but also- she's furious about something he's pretty sure is meaningless, she has an intense destructive streak when she doesn't get her way- that's just direct anger, nothing too complicated- easy to stir it up. perfect target.

he'll buy her something later to make up for it- tickets to some show she wants to see, maybe.

so, 11-year-old poopsie willard gets akumatized. and it's an incredibly destructive powerset; the heroes reverse everything, but- they can't reverse the memories of the past few hours. the stress and the fear, everything the miracle cure can't touch.

and then bose sees his stepsister on the news, recognizes her, and- oh, he has to get over there now-

the aftermath. this kid realizing that she was just used for one of the worst akuma attacks swellview's ever dealt with. with no memory of the past few hours, just- she did something.

the heroes smile at her when she comes back to herself, but it's strained. she- didn't mean for all that, didn't mean for any of that- she had wanted someone to pay attention to her- (her dad had promised they would do something together on tuesday, and she knows he never keeps those promises, but- it had stung, it always stung-) and she had been so mad at her friends- (she was pretty sure they didn't actually like her, only hanging around her because their parents were friends, and her dad wasn't above bribery, and she wasn't above kicking them in the shins-)

but- she hadn't been in control, she had hurt people, and- she couldn't remember-

and no one comes for her afterwards, except- bose does. her stepbrother comes to get her. and she's still looking around, staring blankly at the pristine streets in perfect condition- (what did she do, she doesn't remember-) and he calls her name, and she looks up, and-

of course it was him, she thinks. her stupidly nice stepbrother who somehow managed to tolerate her more than anyone else. who just smiled tiredly when she blew up at their parents. who her dad kept trying to dump her with after school, so he didn't have to pick her up or talk to her or think about her-

"hey." "…hey." a pause, then- "got you a hot chocolate. if you want it." and she's about to roll her eyes, because the only kind of hot chocolate she likes is- "it has the strawberry syrup. from that place you like." and she stares at him, because- she had mentioned that once. weeks ago. and she hadn't been raising her voice the way she did when she was trying to get something to actually stick in her family's memory - it had been offhanded. muttered under her breath. and bose had somehow remembered.

she takes the hot chocolate. "you want to go home?" she shrugs. "…you want to go to the park?" a pause. then she nods. they start walking. bose wraps an arm around her shoulders once, squeezes gently. she leans into it, just briefly, for half a second- but it's a full minute before she halfheartedly shrugs him off completely.

and eventually- "bose." "mhm?" "…akumas suck." "yeah." "…today sucked." "yeah." "next time i see one, i'm gonna step on it and rip off its stupid little evil wings." "i don't think that's how they work, poopsie." a scoff. "well. it should be." "yeah. that'd be cool."

a pause. "...bose." "mhm?" "…thanks." and he smiles at that. soft, and slightly surprised. "no problem."

plot situation: mika interacting with feraline & melopex

a bit later on in the plot, chapa is Going Through It.

chapa, tired and hurting. not wanting to deal with the tension at home, but also not wanting to worry her friends too much- and also just. not wanting to be herself right now. wanting to be the hero that everyone's proud of instead of the angry kid that people barely tolerate.

so she transforms into feraline, and she sneaks out. and she just- she kind of just wants her friends right now. so after about half an hour of jumping across rooftops, she ends up knocking on mika's window.

and mika's so confused, because- ??? this is her teammate who she's barely interacted with as a civilian- why is she here?? but- that's still feraline, and they're still a team, even if feraline doesn't know it at the moment. and she looks exhausted, so- mika just hands her a blanket.

and then they talk, and- feraline mentioning that she couldn't be at home right now. and mika thinking- if she was the first choice of an alternative, this supposed civilian who's only met her a few times (supposedly), then- how many people did her partner actually have looking out for her outside of akuma fights…?

and chapa keeps doing it. keeps transforming at night and stopping by mika's window. it's a win-win scenario, she thinks: she gets comfort, mika doesn't have to worry about chapa, and it's fun talking to her as her hero self, anyways.

except. :) bose also has a miraculous by now. :) and he had the Exact Same Idea. <3

and now mika is getting increasingly concerned about her teammates' home lives. feraline is crashing in her room some nights, melopex is doing the same other nights, and she still has Zero Idea why they've apparently designated her as a safe place to go on rough nights- but she's not really complaining.

and the end result is that feraline and melopex show up to mika's room on the same night, at almost the same moment. pause. stare at each other in confusion- and that's when miles walks in asking if mika's seen his phone charger anywhere- and now all four of them are blinking at each other in confusion.

and then mika gets them all to play card games. <3 and then they play card games and have a nice fun time. <3 and all four of them are still Very Confused. <3

plot situation: the "falling in love with mika macklin is a universal experience" arc

much later on, at least halfway through the plot, bose/mika is sprinkled into the love square.

bose just quietly falling for mika, very gradually, and realizing one day that- yeah, he's in love with mika macklin. and being very chill and calm about this, because- yeah, that makes sense. mika's incredible and amazing and pretty and she means the world to him. pretty reasonable of him to fall in love with her, he thinks. he absolutely does not think the feeling is mutual, so he is keeping this to himself and continuing on as normal.

so, at this point in the AU: mika's pining after chapa (only miles is aware of this), chapa's pining after elytra (mika is aware of this but obviously does not know that feraline is chapa), bose is pining after mika (miles suspects this but doesn't know for sure). and the fun bit would be when the love square eventually inverts, because-

chapa kicks the door to bose's room open (she did not mention she was coming over and he did not let her into the house but he did tell her about the side door that was never locked and good for sneaking in through, so. not unexpected.) and chapa storms in and starts pacing bose's room, full crisis mode, absolutely furious about her sudden disastrous crush on mika macklin-

and bose is just like. yeah that makes sense. and then a whole bit about "literally there is nothing more reasonable than having a crush on mika. universal experience, nothing to worry about. we've all been there. some of us are still there."

and chapa is still in Furious Crisis Mode, so it takes her a bit to process what he just said, and- wait. what. no. bose, that's- okay, see, if we both have hopeless crushes on mika macklin, that is simply an Us Problem, not a Universal Experience. also how long has that been going on for-"

and then miles has to watch his two best friends becoming increasingly disastrous about their increasingly obvious crushes on his sister, because bose and chapa will enable each other's disaster tendencies across any universe.

meanwhile, mika is suddenly realizing that she might be kind of in love with feraline- who, coincidentally, has apparently gotten over her years-long crush on her at the Worst Possible Time, she is going to Scream-

and after this, some time goes by. mika still very much has feelings for feraline but is also starting to realize that she might possibly have a crush on bose now-

chapa, meanwhile, has decided that it is Absolutely Outside The Realm Of Possibility that mika likes her back.

(she mentions this to miles, who is Fully Aware that his sister was head over heels for her until literally just a few months ago, miles Cannot Believe This and the entire universe is probably laughing at him for having to put up with these people Every Day-)

and so mika ends up asking out bose. and bose is just frantically texting chapa. and chapa's response is basically: bose. bose you are saying yes. you Have to date mika. at least one of us has to be happy in this wretched life. and also if you say no she'll be sad and if you make her sad i will Attack You.

so bose and mika end up dating for a little bit.

but the thing is- bose is kinda picking up on the fact that she still has feelings for feraline, and- he doesn't know chapa or mika's secret identities, but something in the back of his mind is connecting dots- and coming to the wrong conclusion that is also technically the Correct conclusion. he realizes that mika's had feelings for chapa for years.

and he starts thinking that- "okay. she… probably still has feelings for chapa, then. and as soon as she figures that out, i will let them be happy, and i will be Absolutely Fine when mika realizes that it's always been about chapa, and i will fully support my friend getting to be happy with the girl we're both in love with."

and he's just thinking that's the inevitable way this ends, but not wanting to push mika into realizing that, so- he'll enjoy this while it lasts, he thinks. better than not getting it at all, right?

and then they finally have a conversation.

and mika's trying to communicate how she feels without giving away the whole "secret identity as a superhero who is perhaps also in love with my superhero teammate" thing, because- she loves bose. she does. she loves him so much and she wants this to work, but- it feels like she's keeping too much from him. like there's too much of the double life that she can't share with him, and- it doesn't feel fair to him. and she's hurting so badly about it, but-

bose is just. fully calm, looking at her with a kinda sad smile, and- says something about- yeah. chapa. i know. it's okay, i- i figured. and mika is kinda confused, because- what? and bose is just going on about how he's known for a while, and she should go talk to chapa, and she definitely likes her back, don't worry, and- and mika is even more confused, but she's piecing things together, and- wait, chapa likes her? wait, bose thinks she still has that crush on chapa? wait-

and she's trying to process all this, and they kinda break up- but just then, there is Plot that leads to Trauma for the hero kids. so they all have to focus on that.

and then they eventually defeat viceroy. and everyone's identities get revealed. and mika and chapa get together. and then chapa figures out exactly why bose and mika broke up, and- okay wait. hang on. what.

and then eventual polyamory. :) <3

and. i was going to include the fun scenarios for after the kids defeat viceroy, but. i fear my post has, once again, gotten Very Long. <3

hero identities:

mika - Elytra. ladybug holder. (named after the scientific term for a ladybug's outer pair of wings.)

chapa - Feraline. black cat holder. (name combines the words "feral" and "feline".)

miles - Chronobyte. snake holder. (name taken from "chrono", the greek root for time. the "byte" part of the name isn't actually inspired from the digital unit; miles just liked the spelling better than "chronobite".)

bose - Melopex. fox holder. (name inspired by: "alopex" = a greek word for fox. "mel" = a latin word meaning honey and sweetness. additionally, "meli/melos" are latin words that refer to a song, tune, or melody.)

initial AU dynamics:

so. opening the AU with swellview's newest hero duo, elytra and feraline. <3

mika initially thinks feraline is too reckless with her powers; she's an obnoxious show-off who doesn't take this seriously enough, only in this for the thrill and the chance to fight.

chapa, meanwhile - she's falling so quickly for elytra, this pretty hero who's clever and confident and cares so much-

chapa, who can't seem to stop using the hero identity as an outlet for all the pent up frustration and hurt from dealing with her family life. chapa, who's taking the chance to be something larger than life, someone whose problems are all tangible and can be destroyed if she just fights hard enough- chapa, who knows that she's showing elytra all the most unlikable parts of her - and she's not expecting anything other than begrudging tolerance in response. (that's the best she can usually hope for.)

but. maybe elytra doesn't exactly like her at first, not exactly, but- she cares. she cares so much, more than anyone chapa's ever met. swooping in to catch her when she's falling, pulling her out of situations that she jumped into without thinking. beaming at her when they manage to pull off a successful move. consistently annoyed with her biting comments, shooting her a glare in response - but still always smiling at her before leaving to detransform. always checking to make sure she's okay before wishing her goodnight and rushing off.

and meanwhile. mika macklin, hopelessly pining after chapa de silva. the girl in her class with the brash confidence and toothy grin, fiercely protective of her friends and with an undeniable edge to her- but mika can see the hints of softness shining through the closer she watches. and every genuine compliment chapa gives her makes her melt, all flustered and giddy.

and she's never really had friends other than her brother; she knows she's always been a bit intense, a bit too much, always feeling just on the outside of all the unspoken rules that seem to come easily to everyone else-

but. she snickers at one of chapa's jokes, and chapa grins back at her- and mika feels like she's flying, the weightless soaring that she usually only gets to feel when she's leaping across rooftops as a hero.

and as the hero duo gets closer-

feraline throwing herself into fights alongside elytra with a grin, full confidence in her partner.

sharp edges starting to soften the more they get to know each other.

feraline taking a hit for elytra without hesitation. elytra catching her as she crumples from it, slightly terrified, because- that looked bad- why would you- and feraline just grins up at her, some flirty teasing line slipping out with the usual dramatics- but then a quieter, disarmingly genuine "i told you: i've got your back."

mika gradually realizing how willing feraline is to follow her anywhere. realizing how much loyalty and protectiveness is burning underneath the careless and cocky exterior.

miles & bose both get their miraculous slightly later on; more on that later. <3

the villain situation

vice mayor willard is the AU's hawkmoth stand-in. butterfly holder. goes by Viceroy. (named after the viceroy butterfly + sounds similar to "vice".)

celia o'brien died prior to the start of the AU plot, so he's now the sole guardian of both bose and poopsie. he is doing a Terrible Job at this, and both kids have Many Issues as a result; more on that later. <3

mika macklin | elytra

1) mika's canon resourcefulness and skill at forming clever plans works very well with the lucky charm powers. <3

2) mika starts having exceptionally good luck as a side effect of the ladybug miraculous. <3 this mostly shows up in the form of her going on nice little walks to clear her head, and coming back Every Single Time with a free snack coupon that she found stuck to her shoe. <3

miles is initially fully convinced that his sister is stealing those, because- Every Single Time?? mika. mika where are you actually getting those coupons- so then he tags along one day, and. no, yeah, she's just. actually finding coupons. stuck to her shoe. Every Single Day.

later on, the kids are all hanging out together- chapa or bose mentions being hungry, and miles just goes: i have an idea. watch this. he gets mika's attention, then mentions loudly that they are So Hungry, and coincidentally, chapa Really Likes those pretzels they're selling at that stand over there, and bose Really Likes the lemonade, and it sure would be great if they had some way of getting pretzels and lemonade-

mika gives him a weird look. "miles. do you want me to buy you guys pretzels and lemonade. you can just ask-" and miles quickly interrupts with, "no, no- don't buy us anything. i just need you to…." he glances around. "can you walk over to the park and back?" "why." "uh. bose walked over there in exactly 3 and a half minutes earlier. he wants someone to beat his record." mika is already speed-walking towards the park without question.

(2.5 minutes later)

"guys!!! look what i found!!! :D" (coupon for a free combo meal of pretzel bites and lemonade from the pretzel stand <3) chapa slowly turns to stare at miles in impressed confusion. miles just grins. "works every time." and bose is already halfway to the pretzel stand to buy them pretzels and lemonade without questioning it any further, because- why question free pretzels and lemonade? <3

3) some species of ladybugs hibernate in piles together during the winter :) after getting her miraculous, mika gets much sleepier in the winter and stays way closer to her friends than usual, instinctively wanting them all close during the cold. <3

4) after getting the ladybug miraculous, mika suddenly has a deep, instinctive grudge against any species of spider that eats ladybugs. she is Fully Glaring at them every time she sees them without even realizing. <3

5) recurring bit of both chapa and bose mistakenly assuming that mika has a crush on elytra.

mika then has to desperately convince them that she absolutely does Not have a crush on Herself- without putting her secret identity at risk- and this almost always results in chapa (who does have a crush on elytra) being somewhat offended on elytra's behalf.

mika is So Tired. <3

chapa de silva | feraline

1) side effect of the cat miraculous: she develops the cat instinct of affectionately bonking her head against her friends' shoulders or heads. the other three have no idea why she started doing this, but they are Not complaining about getting Bonus Affection. <3

2) another side effect: she frequently has to stop herself from literally hissing at bose's stepdad every time he sees him <3 protective kitty cat kid who is Not Happy about this man once again failing to show up to an event bose asked him to come to. this will lead to chapa muttering under her breath to plagg about how she is so very good at restraining herself from violence, actually- plagg, see how good she is at Not Killing This Man, she should be Congratulated- (plagg agrees. it is very impressive and she should be congratulated. plagg & chapa destruction duo. <3 he loves that kid. <3) she can also purr. more on that later. <3

3) yet another side effect: the pupils of her eyes dilate when she's getting ready to attack someone. :)

4) key timeline alteration for the mlb AU: celia o'brien went on her first date with the vice mayor One Day Later than she did in canon.

which has a very fun butterfly effect on the AU, because- when 7 year old bose asked to borrow chapa's phone, he wasn't interrupted by his mom pulling him away for her date with the vice mayor. which means he was able to give her back the phone once he was done using it. which means mlb AU bose never stole chapa's phone.

which means! two key things:

one, the event that was the catalyst for chapa running away from home Did Not Happen. she didn't run away. she kept living at home, and the tension kept increasing with her parents- it's definitely not a great situation at all, but- she did have her phone. so she wasn't completely isolated. and two, mlb AU chapa & bose befriended each other that day in the arcade. <3 and stayed friends up until present day. <3 tiny little kid chapa & bose best friends. <3

so, key takeaways: we get to have pre-canon chapa & bose friendship in the mlb AU + mlb AU chapa never ran away from home.

5) you may remember me mentioning one time that four corners AU chapa gets to have a little menace of a stray cat named riot. this is also true for mlb AU chapa. :) riot the beloved kitty cat also exists in mlb AU for chapa to befriend. <3

miles macklin | chronobyte

1) recurring bit of miles, prior to getting his miraculous, having to cover for mika's constant disappearances with zero explanation.

he has no context for where she is right now, no idea what she could possibly be doing- but he is Committed to selling these excuses as to why his sister is late.

he is so pleased with himself, he is Succeeding at this, he is the Best Ever at making up cover stories. <3 (but also mika definitely owes him one later, this is getting exhausting-)

2) miles technically gets the snake miraculous by accident. due to a series of several rapid-fire mistakes on mika's part, the snake miraculous gets lost. and miles finds it. <3

mika quickly realizes that her brother has the missing snake miraculous- and also that she is So Dead if anyone finds out she lost it.

as a result of this, she ends up being distracted by this Inevitable Impending Doom during the next akuma attack. she gets trapped somehow, and feraline is still dealing with something else.

miles, seeing this on the news, figures that he should probably go help with that. :) now that he has a miraculous. :)

so he shows up to help, and mika is Going To Scream. because now, not only did she lose the miraculous, but this hero who just showed up is Definitely One Hundred Percent her twin brother. and she Cannot let him know she knows that- and also Why Is He Actually Really Good At This- this is the most annoying thing that has ever happened to her-

this ends with the twins' parents asking them how their days went. miles answering with "oh, pretty good. nothing much happened :)" mika proceeds to stab her food with enough force to earn a weird look from everyone present. "....my day was good too :) food's really good, dad, thanks- be right back, though-" and she walks over to her room.

they can all clearly hear her muffled screaming into a pillow from where they're sitting.

their mom glances at miles. miles shrugs. mika returns, now fully calm. :)

and that's how chronobyte joins the team. <3

3) snakes brumate during the cold. <3 and the main difference between hibernating ladybugs and brumating snakes is that hibernating ladybugs are fully asleep, but brumating snakes are awake but drowsy and inactive. so: miraculous side effects leading to the very sleepy macklin twins during the cold <3 mika is barely awake right now and is falling asleep the second she is able to; miles is just really drowsy and processing things much slower than usual. chapa and bose are concerned about both of them- are you guys okay-??

4) another snake miraculous side effect: miles sometimes has to Focus on making sure he doesn't just absentmindedly start trying to eat food without chewing it; it's happened a few times and everyone stared at him in confused horror. <3 oh, and also: his sense of time as a civilian starts getting much worse as a side effect from using the second chance power so often.

5) potential idea of miles getting a pet snake and naming it chronobyte. several fun shenanigans result. <3

bose o'brien | melopex

1) foxes are crepuscular animals - they're most active at dawn and dusk. so, after getting his miraculous- bose will transform into melopex in the early morning, and he'll be so full of energy. racing across the rooftops with a grin. the chill of the wind is biting at him, whipping sharply through his hair, and he feels so free and alive and delighted. the sun is rising over swellview, the sky is warm and golden. he feels amazing.

eventually detransforming and running back around to meet up with chapa on the way to school- almost fully crashing into her as he rounds the corner. she has to brace herself hard to keep the both of them steady, exasperatedly shoving him off her- but bose is laughing, eyes bright and so happy that it's contagious. she rolls her eyes, but they're both grinning now.

and then they're at school and the twins are there waiting for them, and! he's so happy to see them. <3 miles is waving at him, and mika's returning his smile as he and chapa sit down- and he's just. having such a good morning. <3

bose gets a lot of good mornings with the fox miraculous. <3

2) foxes grin when they're afraid. :) after getting the fox miraculous, bose picks up the habit of nervously grinning when he's startled. :) <3

3) haven't decided how bose gets the fox miraculous, but i do know that none of the other three know that it's him; the only one of the four who knows anyone else's identity is mika, who knows from the start that miles is chronobyte.

4) melopex's teammates call him "mel" for short sometimes, and he feels very soft and happy about this. <3

5) bose and mika are both canonically interested in studying languages. so, fun concept of melopex with his greek/latin-based hero name that he definitely spent a while coming up with- and elytra, who immediately knows exactly what he was going for with that, and thinks it's very cool. :) <3 also, fun concept of elytra being the only one who's actually aware that every time one of them shortens melopex's name to "mel", they're technically just calling him "honey/sweetness" in latin. she doesn't point this out, and all three of them keep doing it often, but she does feel very fond about the whole thing. <3

other/former miraculous holders:

very fun part of the AU. <3

1) the former black cat holder was ray, and the former ladybug holder was schwoz; chapa and mika got their miraculous directly from the previous holders (separately).

2) henry is either the former turtle miraculous holder, or he still is the turtle miraculous holder - somewhat undecided. <3

3) drex got ahold of null, the concept kwami of nothingness, during the hd part of the timeline. :) his plan was to erase ray from existence, in the AU's equivalent of the hd finale.

4) buddy fudgers gets the bee miraculous at some point during the df part of the timeline.

5) i think i had jasper and charlotte with the fox and the bee respectively during the hd part of the timeline. <3 piper also got a miraculous at some point, but. i have been typing for hours and my notes are scattered across so many tabs on this laptop. so i will remember the specifics of that Later. <3

mika and bose can both have the hearing loss from being exposed to mika's powers; mika's is probably slightly worse from the constant exposure, but bose also just happened to be the only one nearby during a particularly uncontrollable slip of her powers.

mika spends a lot of time refusing to talk because she's scared that the scream will accidentally kick in and hurt someone. even once she has a bit of a better handle on her powers, she'll immediately go silent at the first sign of an emotional or upsetting situation.

miles develops the habit of making sure he's within arm's reach of the other three any time a situation feels stressful, or at least the ones he can be within arm's reach of. because that way he has the option of teleporting them out of there if he needs to.

previous note also means that miles is the one with the worst electric burns from chapa's powers, because he kept staying within arm's reach even when her lightning was going off uncontrollably.

mika & bose quickly learn sign language after the hearing loss. chapa and miles pick it up as well- but this is during the same period of time that chapa's powers are constantly going off and hurting the others, so. the first word tiny little kid chapa teaches herself to say in sign language is "sorry".

the realization that it's essentially impossible to actually harm ray with her powers is such a relief to chapa, and part of the reason she quickly gets attached to him.

henry showing up to the man cave after school and the kids immediately rushing over to him in excitement. <3 (all overlapping) "henry!! :D" "henry what took you so long, you're Late, you said you'd be here Ten Minutes Ago-" "henry look at this, i can teleport mid-air now-" "henry how was school, was it awesome, i bet it was awesome, did you pass the history test-" "henry did you bring me the cereal, remember how you said you would bring me that cereal, you brought me the cereal, right? ray's starving us-" "oh yeah, that's true, he's literally starving us-" [ray, in the background] "i am not Starving You, you're just refusing to eat anything but the One Specific Cereal Brand that we Do Not Have-" (henry tosses a bag of The One Specific Cereal Brand to them and they descend upon it like seagulls)

charlotte doing things on the computer in the man cave. 8 year old mika leaning over her shoulder. "what're you doing?" charlotte answers while continuing to type. 8 year old bose leaning over her other shoulder. "why?" charlotte answers again, still continuing to type. [five minutes later] mika: "what're you doing now?" bose, after charlotte answers mika: "why?" this continues and repeats many times. they think charlotte's the coolest ever and are very interested in everything she does. <3

piper canonically "gets the lead in every musical they do in junior high" according to jasper. therefore, danger rats AU piper has taken it upon herself to introduce chapa to musicals. ray with his grudge against musicals is Not happy about this, but unfortunately for him there is now absolutely no force on earth that can stop those two from taking over the man cave with musical theater karaoke.
