"taken" style action movie where a man searches for his wife. as he fights baddies in gunfights and hand-to-hand combat, it's slowly revealed that:
his wife hasn't been kidnapped
their marriage is not healthy or functional
this guy isn't rescuing his wife, he's hunting her down
his wife is a crime boss, those are her henchpeople he's fighting in a john-wick bloodbath
the tension builds until, drenched in blood, our protagonist steps forward for the final showdown. he pulls a manila envelope from his bullet-torn jacket and throws it at his wife's feet. he's just spent an entire trilogy biting & killing & maiming....all so he can deliver his shit wife her divorce papers
call it Taken… To Court
#Taken 2: Court
My current survival base! The inside is a nightmare of ladders and pipes
If you see this on your dashboard, reblog this, NO MATTER WHAT and all your dreams and wishes will come true.
Oh hey! Haven’t seen this in forever! Didn’t reblog it when it came across me before, not gonna skip it this time, I need some good vibes.
the new Snifferish video is so good. i think it speaks to something that it's one of the only things recently that i can recognize is so highly crafted and proficient AND doesnt make me hate that im not at that level. it inspires me to want to get better at my own craft. whether its my music, my own videos, the music i make with Avid, the videos i edit for others, etc. being able to see someone so excellent in their own field struggle with something and keep pushing from new perspectives despite the rocky road it takes. excellent and incredibly motivating.

You guys should listen to @narcissistcookbook their music is even better than their silly tumblr posts
When I& should be sleeping I&'m instead philosophizing about Minecraft building and probably re-inventing existing concepts and art theories that I&'m not aware of
The big principle in Minecraft building is texturing. It's what everyone talks about when discussing adding interest to flat surfaces, but there are other utilized techniques too.
Currently it's all the rage to abstract blocks down to colour averages. In this, flatter and less busy blocks are actually preferred - not to say that people do away entirely with the block textures, of course, but those matter almost exclusively in the close-ups and the small scale builds. Blocks are treated not as individual units but as pixels in a bigger image. Noise is randomized and chaotic to add a sense of roughness and natural chaos.
So, philosophically, the opposite of this would actually be highlighting the individual textures. Which is the other common technique - patterning. Glazed terracotta becomes king. Intricate tilings, visual interest added through elaborate symmetries and regularities. Especially noticable in the older days of Minecraft when we had more limited palettes, when every block was distinct.
Obviously the two get combined. I&'m just kind of fascinated with how one could push the patterning further, make it more intricate, glaring. It's also not something you can autogenerate with Axiom. Probably the most common type of build that achieves what I& strive for are perimeter walls as pictured above (seriously, go spend some time just looking at perimeter walls. They're awesome)
It also creates an interesting dichotomy in natural vs artificial. It's a well known fact that symmetry looks man-made and curated, and I& fuck with that heavy actually, highlighting the artificialness of it all. Probably because I& still listen to dubstep in 2026
I&'m also thinking about the abstraction of aestheticization, or whatever the proper art term for it is. When you take an object that serves function and create an aesthetic out of its form, abstracting the essence of the object down to the visuals and removing the functionality. Circuit boards, pipes, mechanisms, utility poles - when they serve not as infrastructure, but as decoration. Happens with nature as well, but it's most noticable with mechanisms.
Any Austin's channel is perhaps so fascinating to me& for this reason: he also takes interest in how artists choose to use objects with function in real life as decoration and set dressing in games. He thoroughly explores this connection. The process of simulating an object in a game is inherently doing this "aestheticizing".
Of course, this does turn back to Minecraft, where I& find myself& fascinated with the aesthetic of redstone builds with their long lines of wool and the constant clicking and piston noises and lights and movement... but despite buildstone becoming such a hyped movement, people are sleeping on the idea of fake redstone. Redstone used as decoration. Inverting the need to hide farms. Or even stacking the metas - hiding redstone farms in builds that emulate and fake redstone farms themselves. Lots of unexplored potential here.
