A little late, but still apropos. Check out the performance of this routine from Frankie 95 too. It’s breathtaking. I didn’t put it up because it makes me cry every dang time I watch it. For our purposes here, in addition to being a beautiful tribute, it’s also a beautiful piece of dancing and choreography. 

I just love how they wait for each other.

This is one of my favorite videos of Mike Roberts. He’s really got sumthin sumthin going on here, and I’m not just talking about the beard.

:21 First of all, the get low get low crazy legs are cool, but look at the movement on 3 of the next figure. I’ve been seeing this a lot lately. The same thing is employed at :37. :50 Loving this round and roundy thing. 1:26 Laura’s swivels. Often imitated, rarely mastered. 1:28 Nice whip like movement into 3. Snazzy. 1:57 Shit gets silly. It was already on it’s way to silly, and here it really goes to silly town. And I appreciate that so so much.

Slow tempo, great style.

:03 Skye. Posture. :15 The clapping. Good, sweet universe, the clapping. - Yeah, I can’t compose myself enough to keep pointing out moments. ALL of them.

Fun to watch the pros smooshed together in new combinations. Always learn a lot from these jawns. Keep your eye focused on Joanna Lucero, I am a broken-record of admiration for her dancing and I will continue now: YASSSSSSS! 

2:13 This little sequence that ends with the mirrored steps at 2:16-2:17. Get smoother than that and I might loose my grip on reality. 7:38 The whole spotlight. The ease with which they step. 13:27 Call and response sequence. Skye stompies. Joanna stompies. Skye stompies funny stompies.

I love the thoughtful, higher production numbers coming out all over the world. This one is terribly charming. It's like a scene out of The Notebook.

Just watch how Sylvia moves through space. And also watch her feet. And how she uses her legs. Um, everything.

And a good time was had by all. Amen. This makes me 1. smile 2. feel like I understand WCS a little better 3. more smile. This is really accessible to me as a Lindy Hopper with almost zero knowledge of the dance.

:37 The most fascinating of all WCS positions: the arms down elbows out spinning potato. Will investigate further. 1:33 This is the coolest step taken in the whole dance. Trendlyon with her left foot forward headed through that under arm turn. 1:53 Get down. We're movin in. We're movin out. Heck yeah. I'll move wherever you guys want.  2:13 Holy pièce de résistance.

YES. Smart and clear and rhythmic. This is a good use of choreography. Everyone is important.

:39 The fucking simplicity of the first phrase of partnered dancing is perfect and makes my hands tingle. 1:00 Joanna's sweet ski shape into the butt move.
