The first rule of ballet is to make every single movement as beautiful as possible but sometimes breaking the rules is the only way of getting it right. And once they’re broken, you can start making your own. It’s not ballet. It’s something new.

In ballet you always know where the steps is, the rules haven’t changed for the past hundred years. But things can’t stay the same forever, we all have to learn new tricks even when every fibre of our body is against it.

Growing up I had my mom and dad to give me the warning signs, here we have to rely on each other. Trust that we won’t let one and another down, agree to disagree.

There are 3 important ingredients in pas de deux, trust, unity and most important of all, communication. Remember to find unity, you need trust and communication. Focus on who you’re dancing with no one else should matter.

When he’s walking he never looks back, it’s like he knows exactly where he’s going and everyone is following.

Back home I’d dance and instantly feel free. If I had a bad day at school or a fight with a friend, dancing was the place I’d escape to. But here, everywhere I turned is a dead end. I’m still dancing but it’s behind barres. I might as well be in a cage.

No matter where you are even if it’s a thousand miles away from home, you’ll always be who you are and that’s a good thing.

The thing about being at the bottom is there is nowhere else to go but the top.

How you place may as well be your identity.

I’ve never been the new kid before so it’s like the slate has been wiped clean. It’s like I never had a history, just a future.
