Thinking abt how complex he is. Like how he deals with all the grief in his life, how he channels that into this force to keep going, no matter the cost for himself.

He calls himself a killer, jokes so casually about atrocities he can and have committed, and yet claims to feel nothing from it. Just another job. He calls himself prometheus, tortured by gods for giving mankind knowledge, and he might as well be prometheus. Sacrificing his soul for a cause.

And yet theres a liveliness to him. The way he speaks so lightly and cracks jokes so often. The way he will call his coworkers petnames and tease them until they wanna strangle him. How he drops phoenix or jett life lessons, because why not? A man who can really find joy (or at least humor) in the smallest of things.

Cypher in Fortune's Hand

Time to finally talk about this.

So Cypher is the hermit card. The Hermit is the 9th card in the major arcana (not counting the Fool).

The definition varies slightly depending on the deck but there's some key themes that transcend all decks.

The hermit card is about introspection, about being alone and taking time to reflect on yourself. It can be a deeply lonely card, a card of isolation. You know yourself, but no one else knows you.

Sounding familiar yet?

Taken to its extremes, the Hermit is a card that knows themselves completely, but is also completely withdrawn from others. That sounds a lot like Cypher. He may know himself, but he's still alone.
