I've heard theres a Cyclic vomiting syndrome community on tumblr. I'd like to say hello and I've recently been diagnosed any advice?
I’m reblogging this now so any of my followers can add some tips or advice. I just worked a night so my brain isn’t working too well (I will add some things later) but hang in there! <3
happy disabled selfie night! TW: vomiting
I’ve had cyclic vomiting syndrome (cvs) since I was 3 years old. this disorder is very rare so I would love to spread awareness about it! keep reading if you want to learn more about how cvs affects me
cyclic vomiting syndrome is a chronic disorder where people have vomiting episodes on a cycling basis. for me, I get an episode every 3 months (on the dot) that lasts for 5-7+ days. I struggle with really bad dizziness as my main symptom. when my dizziness gets so bad, it can make me throw up but thankfully my vomiting has gotten better than it used to be. I’m on medication to extend the period between episodes which has helped us get it to every 3 months but once I get an episode, nothing has really helped my symptoms. my cvs is really debilitating. I can’t walk or move when I have an episode because it makes me too dizzy so I’m practically rendered to my bed for a whole week. I’ve missed a lot of my life because of cvs: school, birthdays, holidays, and special events. however, I’ve forced myself to go to some events for my faves (b96 jingle bash for taylor & sabrina and atx film festival) while having a cvs episode because it was the only thing I was looking forward to. you would have never known but I was experiencing an episode in the photo above when I pushed myself to go to atx so I could meet camilla luddington <3 I try to not let cvs define me because I do have many more good days than bad but when I do get a week long episode every 3 months, it always takes a toll on me knowing things that I’m missing and I struggle getting back into daily life & catching up on schoolwork

i have never understood the implication that nurses and medical staff who aren't doctors are "low-skilled"... i don't think you want to see what it's be like if your nurse fucks up your IV when you need one
In my “gets IVs every 2 weeks” experience doctors actually fuck up IVs much more often and are much less nice about it tbh
Listen, I was proud to be a registered nurse right from the beginning but I am even more proud now in the midst of COVID-19. Health care workers like me put ourselves on the line every single day for the general public. I am not worried about COVID for myself, I am worried about the lack of resources, specifically PPE, that is being provided for health care workers. When we don’t have sufficient PPE we cannot provide care while protecting ourselves and our patients.

when ur therapist tries to teach u new coping mechanisms
there is no minimum requirement for suffering before it deserves addressing
But… that’s none of my business
just saying

Bitches really be diagnosed by a professional doctor and go home thinking they're faking it.
