Satan-Chan first appeared in various gaming magazines in 1997 alongside Satanna-Chan under the company ASCII Corporation, which later helped Sega in the creation of the Sega Hard Girls project. Satan-Chan’s purpose was mainly to provide fun, lighthearted antics and adventures to help market the Sega Saturn, along with sharing miscellaneous trivia. Satan-Chan became popular enough to make physical cameos in Sega Saturn games outside the Tech Saturn series, such as Steep Slope Sliders, where she appears as a hidden unlockable character.
