prime megatron is highkey the most washed megatron ever. substance use that people love to make unfunny and insensitive jokes about aside, he genuinely just sucks so fucking bad at his job. he’s constantly letting his underlings run rampant and sabotage one another and not even in a strategic way like beast wars megatron. that megatron’s whole thing is that he’s intimately aware of all his subordinates’ respective idiosyncrasies and strains of treachery, and uses that knowledge to his advantage. he makes it work for him. it’s a well-oiled machine of organised chaos. but that’s not the vibe with prime megatron at all; at points, it kinda just feels like he’s flying by the seat of his pants. starscream seems to have run a much tighter ship, funny enough, since the decepticons were doing just fine for those three years that he was in charge while megatron was out in space. then he came back and led the whole organisation to its ruin in the span of a few months. it’s like the exact opposite of what happened in idw lmao. why is starscream the competent one????
