Cyan

WARNING, THE FOLLOWING IS A PLUG: Hello, EdiFans! My comic may not be big enough to really try plugging anything through it, but I wanted to make an effort during the final push for a Kickstarter project near and dear to my heart. The name of the project is Obduction.

Obduction is a new game that Cyan, the studio behind MYST and Riven, is funding through Kickstarter. The MYST games have been one of the biggest inspirations on me and my work. I’m excited to play a brand new title by the creators of my favorite video game series, but they need our help.

The Kickstarter is three days away from ending and they still need a little over $100,000 to reach their base goal.

A little island.

I played Riven for the first time recently, after having had the other Myst games loom in the back of my head for I guess 20 years now as probably the siangle biggest pop-cultural influence on my aesthetic and my work. I thought a lot about doing some art based explicitly on the game, but drew this instead in an attempt to get at that vague weirdness and isolation. I would love to do a series of these but I’m BUSY.

Inktober Day 17 - The Kickstarter for Cyan’s latest game, Obduction, went live today. It looks amazing. As a big fan of MYST and Cyan, I’m beyond ecstatic.

Keeping with the unintentional Cyan theme today, some quick designs for Katran’s iconic green dress from the Book of Atrus- so little source material to go off of for Rivenese clothing, but it’s fun to try to expand on the culture.
