Our Champion-to-be has slipped out from the shadows at the side of the barracks and into step with Aveline as if they’d been walking together all morning. Ripping apart a vine-let of grapes with her teeth, Hawke offers the better half to the red-head (reports of her heartlessness have been greatly exaggerated) and rolls a stiff shoulder, squinting up suspiciously at the uncommonly sunny Kirkwall sky.
"What sort of derring-do is on the schedule for today? Presumably after writing ‘Aveline’ over all of the ‘Jeven’ engravings you’ll be utterly fatigued, but keep a little strength?” There’s a quiet level of discomfort as Hawke pulls a small leather satchel from a pocket. Though it is small, and a little dirty from where the mabari has used it as a stress-relieving chewtoy, she holds it with the same reverence and trepidation as of a fire-bomb. “I was hoping to make good our deal with the Witch today.”
By now, she was used to the rogue's shadow-play. At first, the younger woman had been able to get the better of Aveline, startling the warrior whenever she'd pop out from seemingly nowhere, but after a while, Aveline had come to expect Hawke's presence wherever she was least likely to be found. "Spare me the pleasantries, Hawke." Whenever Hawke began one of their interactions with a compliment (or several), chances were, she was planning to ask her old friend for a favor. This instance seemed to be no different. Almost reluctantly, she took the offering and popped one of the grapes into her mouth, but not before taking a quick look around to ensure that nobody was watching. Whether she'd admit it or not, she did have a reputation she liked to maintain. If she'd been seen eating on the job, the lowlifes in Lowtown would hardly run in fear from the once formidable and fearsome guard captain. No, that wouldn't do at all. "I'm afraid you'll have to remind me about this 'deal' of ours."
