i hate viral clip farms so bad its unreal i had to dig through so many of them to find the original source for those cars. i understand why reupload accounts with a gimmick or bit like the lodi one dont credit their images and videos even if i think they should, but the rest of them are literally just not doing it because its easier to not do it, and because they dont ever want anyone looking at any social media accounts other than theirs so will discourage that as much as is possible. on tumblr specifically we don't really have those types of aggregator accounts, our bread and butter there is aesthetic bloggers who just dont credit artists because they think it looks ugly to have any amount of text on their posts. it sucks.

i honestly dont even think the worst part of it is that people aren't getting credited for their work, i think the worst part of it is people are being robbed of the opportunity to understand and appreciate what they're actually seeing and go find more of it if they want to. to strip everything of its context makes it all ephemeral noise. it changes from something that meaningfully captures a small and intriguing snippet of the world you live in and just becomes Content. the way real life has been so structurally slopified like this has paved the way for everything people think is bad about ai. frankly i think if you won't share an AI image or video but will share unsourced or misleadingly framed viral clips you're just kind of a hypocrite because there is essentially zero difference in the outcome.

Last song: "Your Love is a Drug" by Garoad from the VA-11 HALL-A OST. I played the game for the first time recently and the soundtrack shot to my top 5 video game OSTs. (Special mention to "Umemoto", because it's such a banger.)

Currently watching: Dungeon Chill's Yuuyami Doori Tankentai video. I'm also watching through Bruva Alfabusa's Norfolk Wizard Game and re-watching JoJo with some friends.

Currently reading: I was reading The Elementals by Michael McDowell, but fell off with reading for a bit. It's extremely good, don't get me wrong. My brain chemistry just shifted. The last books I read were The Starving Saints by Caitlin Sterling and Incidents Around the House by Josh Malerman.

Current obsession: I'm in between obsessions right now! Which is super frustrating!! COME BACK TO ME, HYPERFIXATION!!

Currently working on: Some (exceptionally) belated birthday gifts for three of my beloved friends. Also diving into a somewhat scholarly essay which I'd love to turn into a video. More to come on that.

Last google search: "duckstation qt platform plugin" because I'm getting back into ROM stuff. The English patch for Suikogaiden Vol 1 keeps crashing and it took duckstation down with it once. Nothing a re-install couldn't fix.

Favorite flower: At the risk of sounding cheeky, I love camellias. And also at the risk of sounding trite, I love spider lilies. I'm more of a succulent or carnivorous plant girlie.

Not gonna lie this makes me a bit irritated. Here's the real version of this photo:

Instead of a cutesie reference to film censorship it was an explicit statement of defiance of Maryland's criminalization gay sex, which was not repealed until 2002. This wasn't a guy saying "Oh they can't put what I do in the movies according to a completely voluntary industry code" he was saying "The State of Maryland wants to put me in jail for being gay and having gay sex."

It wasn't a guy being cheeky about sex in an ambiguous, cute way. It was a man stating, in no uncertain terms, that a whole state of the United States considered him a criminal for being homosexual.
