they don't want a sam who is restless and unfocused finding someone who is a rock solid wall of muscle who can just pick him up or just lay down on top of him and who has routine built into every aspect of his life and maybe can let sam into his slipstream

they don't want a tall leggy sam getting a strong boy to give him a piggy back ride for the first time in years? they don't want a reserved and kinda vanilla alex letting some of sam's creativity and self-expression rub off on him?

"How old do you think Jodi is?" Haley asked, dipping a brush into her favourite nailpolish.

"Dunno," Alex grunted, sweat dripping from his brow as he held his plank. "I think Sam said she was 18 when he was born, so maybe 40? Why?"

Haley focused on the bead of pink polish, hoping Alex wouldn't notice that her cheeks matched its colour. "No reason," she said. "She seems younger, you know?"

"Yeah, she's pretty hot for 40," Alex said, collapsing in a heap.

"Is she?" Haley hoped she sounded casual as she glanced out of her window. "I hadn't noticed."

6:00: wake up, shower, eat breakfast (mostly coffee).

6:30: feed the animals

7:30: tend to crops, weed, water, harvest, replant

11:00: shower again. Prepare lunch. Pack it up.

12:00: leave the farm by the south gate. No one's around. Perfect.

12:10: smooth out your dress, knock on the door. Calm your racing heart.

12:11: a soft "come in." Marnie waits by the microwave, ready to warm up your shared meal.

12:12: exchange a kiss, right in front of the salad Marnie made.

16:00: leave the ranch, grateful for your new routine.
