Sekrax / mk9
One of my favorite scenes from Mortal Kombat 9 It's when Cyrax accuses Shang Tsung of sending his henchmen to kill him.
This is because it clarifies the relationship between Cyrax and Sektor.
All of this before their fight.
We see their dynamic as a pair; Sektor always advocated for him because he trusted Cyrax, and vice versa.
Why didn't he hesitate to tell him this in front of Shang Stung?
In other words, Cyrax knew Sektor would be on his side, although the sorcerer had a point when he brought up Raiden. Had he not mentioned it, the Lin Kuei agreement would have ended there. Even so, Sektor became defensive of Cyrax.
I really like this scene too ghfhfhhd. To me, it shows how much more outspoken Cyrax is in comparison to Sektor before they’re cyberized. Cyrax isn’t afraid to speak his mind, push back against the roles that others try to place on him. On the other hand, Sektor wouldn’t ever speak back directly to someone with power over him (even if he does not particularly like them). Whenever Cyrax confronts him about his thoughts, Sektor never says his actual opinion, but instead deflects and replies:
“We obey the grandmaster's commands, Cyrax.”
“Cyrax is Lin Kuei. He will complete his task.”
Ghgghhj I like how even here you can see that Cyrax values others on the basis of them being people, whereas Sektor can only form his thoughts/actions around the idea of “A good Lin Kuei would do this.”
Exactly. It's somewhat ironic that Sektor is such a 'good son'.
However, he never wanted Cyrax to feel bad about his way of thinking; he could have said something to him for questioning his father. In fact, he should have, because Cyrax was questioning the Grandmaster, but Sektor didn't do it directly; he only quoted a speech that Cyrax probably already knew by heart. Deep down, we know that Sektor hated his father, that certain things about the clan bothered him. Sektor was going through a true existential crisis: he disagreed with Cyrax, but at the same time, he agreed with him. It's just that he could never have a moral guide because he knew nothing beyond being a Lin Kuei... In the end, Sektor rebelled against the Lin Kuei, not for good reasons. But it was something that the frustration of his submission provoked, and over time, he came to hate himself for it.
Because everyone thinks he ruined the clan in his attempt to improve it, but perhaps that was always Sektor's true intention. He hated the Lin Kuei as much as his father. And the only thing he liked about the clan was Cyrax. So much so that he wouldn't let him leave.
Sektor complicated his relationship with Cyrax. But it's still nice to see how much he still trusts him. I don't know if he's a colleague deluding himself or an idiot in love with his best friend.
