serendipity,love,dance

I’ve been on a journey recently and I still am. I lost my passion for dance during my one and a half years studying dance at UCT(University of Cape Town) School of Dance due to not being furfilled at this institute.I’ve came to the realisation that sometimes you shouldn’t immensely study something you love,for you might lose the passion you had for it.That had happened to me and after leaving UCT School of Dance,I had to go sit down and replenish after weeks of crying and dealing with the loss of passion and joy(a process I don’t wish anyone to experience,although it is very enriching).

I went from dance major to media major in a semester.Still learning adapting to the new journey,I decided to take a Friday and went to Salsation(beautiful vibes at The Grand Daddy Hotel in Long Street,hosted by Angus Prince) with my dear friend,Nadia and I was immediately intrigued. I took a couple of minutes to sit back and appreciate the sensual,moving bodies on the floor.A beautiful sight it was. As a nervous newcomer,I said no to every male who asked me to dance until Angus just took me and made me dance. The rest is history and now I’m a salsa lover,together with kizomba and bachata on the list.

Dance came back to me in another genre and MY passion for dancing is returning,slowly but surely. Although I’m in love with salsa and kizomba now,I still have a great appreciation for contemporary dance(my first love). I’ll forever love floor roles,jumps and being thrown around in productions.
