Obama's b/c proven a fake
The largest, most indepth investigation of Obama's birth certificate concluded yesterday. The team that investigated the b/c included forensic document experts and police investigators. Indeed, no more "serious" investigation has ever been done before this one.
The findings: A fraud-- the b/c was found to contain obvious and non-obvious flaws which led document forensic experts to conclude that it is a fraud.
See the investigation at: http://www.examiner.com/law-enforcement-in-national/counterfeit-president-obama-birth-record-a-forgery-arpaio-report
The investigation was done without tax payer money, however the conclusion of the investigation has prompted several Attorney Generals from around the country to call for a full scale, nation wide investigation of both WH officials involved in the cover-up as well as Hawaii Department of Vital Statistics personnel.
So maybe the wacky "birthers" were on to something afterall?

Google: The Heat Is On
I've noticed lately that the media is really starting to dig into Google's privacy approach. In fact, there are investigations behind Google's privacy approach in over 12 countries.
An organization who abuses their brand can take an awful nasty hit in the long run. Look at Microsoft, for example. Microsoft created their own competition [Linux, etc.] because of the public's disgust at their monopolization and tough-guy tactics. You can no longer say that Windows Rules. In fact, in the server world, Windows is nearly replaced with Linux based servers. In the software development world, more and more software has moved to Linux.
Another example is WindRiver. In the embedded world, the world where car computers, satellite computers, cable set-top boxes, etc., are created, WindRiver, the monopoly operating system, has been seeing such a huge hit from "Embedded Linux" that the organization was sold. So, Microsoft doesn't remain alone.
What did Microsoft do that was wrong? Afterall, not all monopolies are bad. As a Field Application Engineer who worked for Microsoft, I saw first hand how their tough-guy tactics drove their customers away. WindRiver isn't much different in their approach. The WindRiver approach was to get a customer in cheap, then raise the prices over the years. If your organization became a 'WindRiver House' or a 'Microsoft House', you soon found yourself at a competitive disadvantage over those using an unchained Linux solutions.
Okay, so how does this fit with Google?
Google is creating their own competition right now. That is, someone is already working on a similie to every Google product and they will offer that product for free or next-to-free. Google will become so top heavy, they won't have wiggle room to change their own marketing strategy. Like Microsoft, they'll lose their ubiquitious standing and will, in years to come, become obscure; a story you tell your kids, "There once was this one company...."
Microsoft, WindRiver, Google, even IBM for that matter, are monopolative organizations that traded their true skill of innovation for marketing savvy and marketing control.
We've all seen this before. In fact, we've seen it many times!
Before closing, I ask this-- does this model of too-huge-to-fail, to-good-to-replace fit any other industry that you know of? How about an entire country?

Media Matters v IRS
Is Media Matters Alone?
Media Matter's latest drama is dealing with keeping their non-profit and tax free status.
When a non-profit organization becomes politically active, their tax status typically becomes active as well. The IRS has been cracking down on non-profit organizations that have taken a political view.
In 2008 the NAACP also faced a similar crisis with their tax-free status after having expressed their affinity for certain democrats during the election furver. Smaller organizations have been violating the IRS rule for years but stay under the radar because of the non-influential status or the fact no one cares.
The IRS rules in question are Rev. Rul. 2007-41.

Google's Valentine Display
Google's Valentine display was really sweet. At the end it showed an inter-racial couple, a Cat and Dog couple, an Inter-galatic couple and two gay men. That's all fine and dandy but that Inter-galatic ET will always be a second class citizen!
Amazon is in the movie business!
Amazon has hit the online TV business.
Watching old movies, first-release movies and even TV series from the golden days of B&W is now provided by Amazon.
With an upcoming release of a console, Amazon will be competing directly with Netflix and your local cable company in providing streaming entertainment.
For those old enough to remember the video-game-console-wars of the 1980's, you know what is coming. For those too young, sit back and enjoy the savings! Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Nintendo, your local cable company, Netflix... all will be vying for your dollars to provide you the same/similar service in the future.
Curious Internet's prediction: Cable companies will become pure ISPs and a few of the others [Amazon, Microsoft, Google] will serve as entertainment providers. Expect to see these organizations to make big moves in the next 2 years.
