The first of my Art Fight pieces for the year! This is Cody (created by Cystem32)- a mix between a Chao and a Heartless. This was one of the top characters I was excited to draw when I started gathering potential characters on my big "to draw" list. It's such an amazing and inspiring concept.

I discovered the site "Sora's Pixel Converter" and decided to pop that Caine doodle I made the other day into it to test it out. I think I'd like to mess around in GIMP to see if I can figure out how to replicate the effects for myself ^^;

Deviantart has a thing where you can get a Pride badge for your profile if you make a picture using the colors on the journal. I thought it would be a fun challenge so those are the only colors I used on this. It's a bit garish but it was a fun exercise ^^;

I picked Caine to use as my subject because he's my favorite :3 The pose I doodled is from the end of episode 7.

It was only after I was halfway through this that I realized I've drawn a very similar pose for my OG (non DE) rarepair a long while ago. Time is a flat circle, haha. The only difference now is that there are people who actually ship this ^^;

I tried experimenting with the colors to try and capture the DE artstyle but it didn't work since I don't understand the process. If anyone has any tips (or a deconstruction of how the DE artstyle works) so that I can replicate that style I'd love to hear! In the meanwhile I'll just have to keep practicing. Maybe I'll try drawing the voices next.

When reading books/listening to podcasts I don't really visualize characters (even if they've been physically described) so I have trouble designing characters . I don't *see* the characters I just *know* their presence when they talk, if that makes sense. The problem with this is that if I try to visual them then my brain will randomly pick a random character from any visual media I've consumed and assign it to them.

So when I hear John, my brain went: "Crabby deep-voiced divorcee? DJ Octavio from Splatoon." Which in retrospect is funny considering that they're both "kings" in some sense of the word...
