to clarify for those who arent getting it removing all traces of a woman to write a story about all men will always be weird behaviour. you can write a divorced/co-parenting jily or you can create an oc thats not lilys son but to just erase her entirely from a story about her own child is strange.

same goes for wolfstar and tonks or any similar ship situation.

you can write m/m fics without disrespecting and erasing women and your story will be better for it

this isnt me hating on jegulus or fics where they’re raising harry in general just a reflection on those fics that don’t treat women as people.

can't stop thinking about the vilification of Demeter as a result of the boom in Persephone/Hades re-tellings.

the Hymn to Demeter is one of the few ancient myths that actually gives a voice to women in pain without revolving it around men. Hades is very much a plot device the focus is the love between a mother and daughter and the grief of being separated against their will. Demeter is not an over bearing mother figure, she is a powerful figure who froze the Earth to defy the men who time and time again took advantage of her and her sister goddesses and have now taken her daughter.

there is nothing inherently wrong with retelling Hades/Persephone as consensual and romantic but many of them incorrectly and semi-dangerously sell themselves as feminist retellings just to turn around and take away the agency of every woman within the story.
