I know a lot of people who deny the transfem Ralsei theory having any basis in-game claim that it "Wouldn't fit into the game" / "There wouldn't be such a drastic change to one of the characters mid story" and I want to talk about that for a second and how it fits into the themes of change in Deltarune as a whole.

First of all, I'd like to point out how there are numerous references to defying the prophecy itself. Kris does everything they can to resist the actions of the soul/player throughout the game, regardless of whether those actions are positive or negative. The prophecy refers to Kris as a "cage", which is obviously pointing to the fact that their body is simply a vessel for the player, whose actions actually influence the story. By rebelling against the actions of the player, Kris is showing that they are unwilling to serve their purpose in the prophecy. They are unwilling to be a cage for the soul. By creating dark fountains (along with all the hints that Kris is working with the knight/knows who they are) they are also going against the expectations of others who have forced them into the "hero" role.

On top of this, Susie also plans on defying the prophecy to prevent something bad from happening, most likely to her or someone she cares about. Even though Ralsei tells her the prophecy can't be changed, Susie refuses to believe that and tells her friends that she'll do everything she can to prevent it from happening. The other two members of the fun gang are already defying the prophecy, even though Ralsei seems basically hopeless in them actually succeeding in changing it. In chapter five, Ralsei is angry with Flowery for two reasons. Firstly because he believes he can change the prophecy by keeping his dark fountain open and defeating the fun gang (which again, Ralsei believes is impossible), but also because he is "pretending to be something he's not" by faking his stats and acting as if he is a human/lightner like Kris. Flowery actually points out how Ralsei would know plenty about pretending to be something they're not, which makes Ralsei more angry than she had previously been in the rest of the chapter. Not only is Ralsei pretending to be a dark prince because of the prophecy, but she believes there is no point in trying to be anything else if the prophecy is undeniable. Regardless of her personal feelings, Ralsei does not believe she can be anything besides what the prophecy tells her to be.

Also they seriously increased the trans coding by tenfold in chapter five. The "I've been a prince, but I haven't been a princess yet!" Dialogue, how Flowery literally calls Ralsei a princess, the fact that out of all the drinks Ralsei chooses the blue and pink one. . .it's all coming together.
