U know what really bothers me about the whole Ferran situation? It's not that people are finally showing him some sympathy because that clip of him anxiously waiting for the VAR decision went viral. Good for him, I guess.
What actually bothers me is that it took seeing him on the verge of a breakdown for people to remember he's a human being. Like... that's what it took? A viral clip of him looking completely overwhelmed? Not the constant abuse, not the weekly scapegoating, not the endless jokes and insults, not the death threats people were sending him literally days ago.
The lack of empathy in football, especially in such a male dominated space where vulnerability gets mocked more than it's understood, is genuinely so disturbing. People only care once they can see someone breaking down in front of them. And then suddenly it's "we need to protect his mental health." Where was all that energy last week? It's just so weird how people switch up the moment they get a sad edit or a viral clip. He's been the same person this whole time.
