Riddle enters your room with his posture rigidly straight, his hands tucked behind his back as he stands beside your bed. He immediately fixes you with a sharp, stern look, launching into a precise, fast-paced lecture about your lack of self-care.
"Honestly, what were you thinking, walking through the rose maze during yesterday's downpour without an umbrella?" riddle scolds, his voice high and authoritative. "According to rRule 248 of the Queen of Hearts, a proper citizen must maintain absolute physical wellness! Falling ill like this is a severe lapse in discipline. If you had practiced basic foresight, you wouldn't be in this miserable state!"
Inside, you want to groan. A lecture is the last thing you want to hear right now while your head is pounding. But looking closer at him, you can see the slight worry in his eyes. He is just stressed because he cares about you.
Choosing to be grateful, you let out a soft sigh and offer him a sleepy smile. You weakly reach a hand out from under the heavy blankets and lightly pat the top of his neat crimson hair.
Riddle stops talking instantly. His eyes widen in total shock. Within seconds, a bright red blush covers his face and ears, matching his dorm cloak. His strict attitude completely disappears into flustered confusion, and he stumbles a step backward.
"W-W-What are you doing?!" Riddle stammers, his voice turning much higher than usual. "Stop that! Such behavior is highly improper! I am the Housewarden, not your... your family member! Stop looking at me with that- expression!"
He huffs loudly, turning his head away and refusing to look you in the eye. He pretends to be offended, but after a moment, he quietly steps right back to your bedside. Then he leans over and ensures the blankets are snug around you.
"Ensure you drink every last drop of the herbal tea trey prepared," he mumbles under his breath, his face still burning hot as he glares at the wall.
Trey is a truly functional and calm presence. He steps into your room quietly, pushing his glasses up his nose as he gently closes the door behind him to block out any hallway noise. He sets a tray on your bedside table with a steaming bowl of light porridge and an herbal tonic he brewed himself.
"Alright, let's keep it quiet in here. I know your head must be pounding," he says softly, giving you a comforting smile as he pulls a chair up to your bedside. "How are you holding up? You look completely wiped out."
He leans forward and gently checks your temperature by pressing the back of his hand against your flushed forehead. His skin feels incredibly cool and soothing against your fever.
"Yeah, you've definitely got a fever." he murmurs, reaching for the bowl of porridge. "I brought you some of this. I made it extra light so it won't upset your stomach. I need you to eat at least a few bites, and then you're taking this herbal tonic. No arguing."
You weakly groan at the mention of the bitter medicine, but trey just chuckles softly and tucks the blankets tighter around your shoulders.
"Don't give me that look," he teases gently. "I've already handled your chores for the next few days. You don't have a single thing to worry about except sleeping. Now, open up."
Cater bursts into your room with a dramatic pout, his phone already raised to take a selfie before he even asks how you're feeling. He practically whines about how boring the dorm is without you around to hang out, leaning over your bed to get a quick "get well soon" Magicam snap of your miserable, blanket-wrapped face.
"Aww, look at our poor prefect! This is a total tragedy!" vcater whines, tapping away on his screen. "No, don't hide under the covers! Let me get a quick pic for the feed. #SickDay #GetWellSoon #SadEmoji #RamshackleCareSquad. There, now everyone can send you good vibes!"
However, the exact second the phone is put away, his influencer persona drops and he becomes surprisingly attentive. He walks over to your washbasin, using a small ice spell to perfectly chill a damp cloth. He walks back and gently lays it across your forehead, flipping your pillows to the cool side with practiced ease.
"There, does that feel a bit better?" he asks, his voice dropping to a much softer, quieter tone so he doesn't hurt your echoing headache. He slides onto the edge of your mattress, pulling out his phone again but keeping the screen dimmed.
"Since you're trapped in bed and completely bored, how about cay-Cay gives you the ultimate rundown on all the latest campus drama?" he offers with a sweet, gentle smile. "I'll read you the funny tea channels in a whisper so you can just drift off to sleep. Just close your eyes, okay?"
Ace walks in with his hands tucked into his pockets, loudly complaining about how inconvenient it is that you got sick because now he has to handle the courtyard cleanup and the lounge duties entirely by himself. He stands at the foot of your bed, leaning against the wooden post.
"Look at you, totally taken down by a simple seasonal sniffle." Ace scoffs, rolling his eyes as he watches you sneeze into a tissue. "You're a total weakling, you know that? Who's gonna help me dodge Riddle's inspections now? You really picked the worst time to slack off."
But under all that bratty complaining, he genuinely felt restless seeing you looking so defeated laying there under your sheets. He grabs a spare quilt from your armchair and throws it over your body, roughly fluffing your pillow with a loud thwack.
"Ace..go away, you're gonna catch my germs" you wheeze out, trying to shoo him away with your hand. Yeah now that you think about it when has that ever stopped him..
"Pfft, Yeah right, like a little cold could touch me," he sneers, pulling up a chair and plonking himself right next to your pillow. He crosses his arms and stares at you with a pout. "I'm staying right here until you finish every last drop of that soup trey brought. Somebody has to make sure you don't accidentally choke or pass out. Shut up and eat so I can stop worrying- I mean, so I can get my cleanup partner back."
Deuce enters your room in a state of absolute panic. The second he sees your flushed face and heavy breathing, his brain completely short circuits, and he starts pacing the floorboards in a panicked way.
"This is bad, this is really bad!" Deuce stammered, gripping his own hair as he paces back and forth. "Your face is entirely red! Should I... should I run to the alchemy lab and smash the lock to get a cooling potion from Professor Crewel? Or maybe you just need to sweat it out! If we wrap you in ten more blankets and you do a hundred push-ups right now, the fever might break!"
"Deuce... please stop pacing, you're making me dizzy..." you weakly call out, your congested voice barely carrying across the small room.
Deuce instantly freezes dead in his tracks. His ears turn a bright red from sheer embarrassment, realizing he was making things worse. He quickly drops to his knees right by your bedside, looking up at you with sincerity.
"I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to yell!" he whispers frantically, carefully lifting a glass of water from your side table and holding it out to you with both hands. "Please forgive me. Just... drink some water. If you need absolutely anything at all- even if it's an ingredient from the mountain or a specific medicine from the town-! you just have to tell me. I'll sprint across the entire island to get it for you in five minutes. Just focus on getting better, Prefect."
