The real life "Annabelle " doll, a Raggedy Ann doll purportedly possessed by a demon, or a little girl, or maybe a demonic little girl. The doll garnered fame after being brought into the possession of "paranormal investigators" Ed and Lorraine Warren, who attributed several claims of supernatural and violent actions to the doll. None of these have been corroborated by evidence.

Texas resident Phylis Canion alongside the stuffed and mounted "chupacabra" residing in her home; Canion had discovered the animal as roadkill near her home in 2007, and photographs she posted online subsequently went viral. DNA testing indicated the animal was a coyote, likely heavily afflicted with mange prior to its death. Of note is that it is unlikely the real animal had vividly blue eyes, given its rarity in wild canines; such was likely an embellishment in mounting the animal.

The photograph is widely considered to be of a black bear with severe weight loss, likely caused by mange (as illustrated in the left photograph). Further supporting this is the not-as-widely circulated third photograph, depicting a pair of bear cubs in the area shortly before the "Bigfoot" was captured on film.

A collection of screenshots and photographs from the original "Ted the Caver" story. Published by Ted Hegemann in 2001, the story is presented as the author's virtual diary chronicling his discovery and excavation of a new passage in a local cave, and the supernatural events that unfold as a result. The story is considered by some academics to be among the first creepypasta, due to its wide circulation and semi-immersive presentation; the authenticity of the story was debated for several years until Hegemann confirmed it to be a heavily-embellished version of his caving experiences.

A newspaper clipping covering the "Battle of Los Angeles", an incident in 1942 during which US troops stationed in Los Angeles County fired haphazardly at supposed signs of a Japanese aerial assault. The army shortly admitted to it being a false alarm triggered by paranoia and mass hysteria among servicemen; subsequent historical review suggests the event was instigated by a stray weather balloon.

The apparent "beak" can be much more clearly seen in other photographs to be the result of decay around the upper jaw exposing the bone.

Here, a handy diagram for showing how the decay patterns of a basking shark's body can produce the appearance of a superfically plesiosaur-like creature. Of note is that additional photographs and eyewitness accounts confirmed the presence of dorsal fin remains on the body.

A doctored photograph displaying the Pacific Northwest tree octopus, a fictional amphibious species of octopus that is the center of a supposed conservation campaign. The original website has been used in several educational curriculum's to teach kids how to identify misinformation and unreliable information online.

Some of the photographs of the supposed "Hook Island sea monster", taken off the coast of Queensland, Australia by Robert le Serrec in 1964. As seen in the second photo, it seems to most likely be a plastic tarp held down using sand. While not conclusively proven as a hoax, Le Serrec's trustworthiness is highly in doubt due to his history of credit fraud, and claims that he was plotting the sea monster hoax back in 1959.

The sighting, along with others in the original wave of Mothman sightings over the following year, are thought to have been the result of misidentified bird sightings. The most plausible explanations are either a vagrant sandhill crane, or a barred owl.

A cartoonist's impression of the Jersey Devil, published in 1909 in The Evening Bulletin Philadelphia. The edition came in the midst of a resurgence in Jersey Devil hysteria across South Jersey and spilling into the neighboring states. Thousands claim to have spotted the devil, and rewards were posted for its capture - reportedly, at least one was claimed by a man who presented a kangaroo coated in green paint.

The original printout (with accompanying handwritten notes) of the "Wow!" signal, an exceptionally intense signal detected by Ohio State University in 1977. The signal showed significant fluctuation from 6 to 30 standard deviations above background levels (the meaning of the circled letters). Some proponents of intelligent extraterrestrial life have toted it as the strongest evidence of alien communication, though no further signals have been detected in its direction. Regardless, the Wow! signal remains a significant object of interest in astronomy.
