Okay so today comes my post about Felix ^^

Fist of all, Felix Robain comes from a ducal house (if I’m not wrong), and he is therefore a noble, just like the Alpheus, hence why he has such a high post, being the emperor’s guard. He is older than Claude by two years, which makes him 31 when Athy is more or less 14 years old. His mother was a maid at the imperial palace (only noble people could serve the royal family) and she was Claude’s nanny, so he and Felix are bosom brothers. Felix’s mother and Claude’s mother considered the other as a sister, and therefore they wanted to raise their children as brothers too. 

When they were little, Claude told Felix that his hair was ugly and that he didn’t want to play with him because of that, so his mother scolded him jsjsjjs. Also, when they were training at the military, Claude called him “The Knight of Crimson blood” to make fun of him and that name remained and Felix hates it hehe.

Also, Claude and Felix are practically linked together, because since they were 3 and 5, Claude placed his surplus mana into Felix (Claude is actually a genius concerning magic and he is very powerful, that’s why Anastacius hates him so much), so Felix is to Claude what Blackie is to Athanasia (kinda). Have you noticed that whenever Claude calls Felix, he always answers, even if Claude is whispering or far away from him? That’s because of their bond too!!

During the coup d’état/revolution, Claude told Felix that he mustn’t feel obligated to follow him only because of their friendship, and Felix told him that he, too, loved Obelia and could not bear it’s current state (aka poverty, full of black magic, tyranny…) and that he wanted to serve a righteous emperor and fight for him. When they were confined in the Ruby palace (Claude, Felix, Diana and sometimes Lily (who even told Diana that she thought that Felix was handsome and Diana wanted to prepare a date for them asdjasjd), he became close friends with Diana and was very happy to see his brother happy as well.

When Claude lost his memories, he felt very useless, because he saw how scared Claude was when Athanasia fainted: as a brother, he could not help Claude, as an uncle, he could not help Athanasia and as a knight, he could not help His Majesty and the princess. He really took care of Claude during his amnesia, because he was the only one that he remembered (when he woke up, Claude barely remembered that he had killed his brother and that he became emperor, he also forgot Diana’s death so he had to go through mourning again :( and actually, Claude was the one to chose Athanasia’s name, and thinking that Athy was faking being his daughter (he thought that she was a spy/witch sent by his brother and Penelope), he said they really stole everything from him (Anastacius destroyed his childhood, killed his mother and Diana, and Claude then thinks that he “stole” his child’s name)).

He was also a big support to Athy (this arc was a lot more sad in the novel. There are various descriptions of Athanasia crying, hurting herself and refusing to eat during days due to her sadness), as he cried with her (and Lily), comforted her, protected her from Claude’s wrath… When Claude humiliated Athanasia at his birthday party, he felt heartbroken because he felt like he failed his dear niece.

Felix even said if Claude keep acting that way, he would be the first one to start a coup d’état against Claude (because Claude menaced Athanasia of killing 100 innocent people per day if she did not come back to the palace). Also, if Claude were to die before Athanasia’s adulthood, he would take the role of emperor/royal consort(?) until Athanasia becomes empress. 

Hum, concerning his relationship with Athanasia, he calls her his niece and Athy also calls him “uncle Felix” sometimes. He becomes her royal adviser to help her learn about politics and all that stuff. He only wishes for her happiness and wants her to have a lot of friends (that’s why he insisted about her having a friend of her age when she was a child aka either Ijekiel or Lucas. He wanted her to grow up with a friend just like he grew up with Claude) and he knows that she will never be fully happy without finding love, so he encourages her to consider the idea of mariage:

- during a hunting party, he tried to create a bond between Ijekiel and Athanasia because he saw how sincere Ijekiel was about her, but Athanasia rejected Ijekiel’s confession (she did not even let him confess actually lol). 

- later, he tries talking to Lucas about his relationship with Athanasia. He tells Lucas that he only wishes him and Athy the best (and that he really considers Lucas as a friend and that he was very endeared with Lucas when he was a “child” because he looked so cute, defenseless and yet very wise and lonely), so he advices him to think about his own feelings (and he thinks that seeing how naive/innocent Lucas is about it is very cute) and apologises to him on Claude’s behalf because Claude is making his life hell, giving him A LOT of work to do because he thinks (knows lol) that Lucas is in love with Athanasia. 

So that’s it!! Excuse me, there must be a lot of errors here ;; I’m not fluent in English and I wrote this quite hastily TT 

Anyway, I hope you liked it!!

I really loved how Amnesiac Claude was concerned about the cannibalistic plant harming Athy and ordered it to be removed before they went on the boat ride the next day. Only to find out that he already had it removed from the lake.

While not said, it’s clear that Claude wanted to protect Athy from that plant and ordered it removed, most likely right after the second time she encountered it.

She has fallen into the lake twice now, because of that plant – she reached for it when she was younger and she tried to escape it more recently.

So, fuck that plant, Claude wants it gone. Because what would happen if he wasn’t there and Athy encountered it for a third time.

Also, love that Amnesiac concerned about the lake being so big and deep. He’s worried about Athy falling in and probably doesn’t know that he already ordered Felix to teach her how to swim, quite some time ago.

They were friends :((
