The Poison Gardens yes that is voryn
this painting is sort of about the personal issues i headcanon voryn having and the whole thing symbolizes a cage, the question of whether its better to be free but with risk or stay safe but painfully constricted. The hands are supposed to reference the Dagoth family (or more specifically the matriarch, Voryns mother) and the hardship that comes from being born with expectations of getting a position of such importance as a high councilor, not being able to choose what you actually wanted to do with your life. I did also kind of want to contrast this with the kind of luxurious palace environment, despite voryns issues you should still keep in mind that this doesnt compare to the more extreme struggles of a peasant. I also just wanted to try and design a building interior that feels sort of House Dagoth.
the text on the pillar is translatable but i know its a hastle, so ill just say that its about not being able to escape fate, multiple implications when it comes to that

people will bend over backwards to explain that they are not misogynistic for disliking almalexia, or the fandom at large isn't, or the fandom might be but the writers are NOT misogynistic.... you guys can just admit its misogyny. it doesn't mean you're an evil person. a lot of people have misogynistic beliefs, including internalized misogyny. the best think you can do is simply examine it and admit it and engage with it critically.
but the fandom and writers are misogynistic, even if that misogyny is very personal (kirkbride and fear of evil moms) or comes across as laziness (cutting her content for time above everyone elses, not wanting to build her character from the ground up like they did sotha sil and instead lazily portray her the same as in her tribunal dlc in morrowind when that was when she was losing her powers and her sanity). the fandom is misogynistic because anything you can say almalexia has done, her fellow tribunes or dagoth ur have done infinitely worse, yet they are treated with more nuance and sympathy or have it all excused.

"Almalexia defies simple analysis. I doubt she could even describe herself accurately ..."
"To understand Almalexia, you must first understand the value of fiction. Vivec fancies himself the poet, but in truth, Ayem is the greater storyteller ..."
"As I said, we are, all of us, bound by our nature. Almalexia does what she does because she cannot do otherwise. It will not end well. But then, even the best endings rarely bring joy."
Dunmer Hlaalu councilman Vares Veleth in Necrom, revived to attend court summons and resolve a minor land dispute between two of his great grandsons, both from different families. Despite being displeased with his descendants' inability to settle affairs by themselves, he was notably cheerful, happy to drink sujamma one more time, and not in a hurry to return to his burial chamber, despite "generally preferring it to the tumultuous world of the living."
One thing I enjoy in Skyrim that there's not nearly enough of is the idea that ancient Nord culture was not what modern Nords imagine. There's Word walls honoring Redguards and Argonians, Tsun mentioning that ancient Nords actually valued magic, Olaf One-Eye being either a culture hero or a boogeyman depending entirely on who you ask. It's not much, but there is some sense that Nord revanchism is canonically misinformed and self-serving (like real life revisionist histories).
"The Prisoner must apprehend two critical insights. First, they must face the reality of their imprisonment. They must see the determinative walls—the chains of causality that bind them to their course ...
... The Prisoner must see the door to their cell. They must gaze through the bars and perceive that which exists beyond causality. Beyond time. Only then can they escape.
... I see only unsteady walls.
If the people of Tamriel must exist inside this cell, I will make sure that the walls are stable, the gaps are sealed, and all who remain stay safe within it."

The Clockwork God tightens his "corset"
unfortunate that none of the ideas i have for Sil feature his face, but i am quite satisfied with this being my first time drawing him properly. I didnt try to make the spine prosthetic make sense or anything as my priorities was to get the material right and to just make it look cool.
Im interested in Sils rejection of the "flesh" by replacing it more and more with tech, both for himself and his followers. I also have the headcanon his arm was amputated from his injuries in the Ald Sotha tragedy (reason behind the scar), later causing him back problems from improperly fit dwemer prosthetics. I can never let this guy have a break so i also imagine he had some debilitating illness (eg. cancer) leading up to the Foul Murder, its the reason why he was so tempted to use the tools besides just being curious as Sil genuinely just wanted to survive, also why hes so desperate to replace his body with machinery.
also sorry for my increased absence as im very busy and exhausted with uni assignments, i will also be missing for a few weeks in June due to mandatory summer practice
oh and have in mind im not as knowledgeable about Sil as i have not played eso (likely never will) only watched a playthrough of the clockwork city dlc, havent read the truth in sequence either, so bear with me if i make very "contradictory" headcanons here
1 close up:
i do not minmax i do not play competitively i do not optimize my build i do not grind i do not topscore i do not give a shit about leaderboards. i play to have fun and if im not having fun i go do something else
and I see fire burn auburn on the mountainside
A crazy detail in ESO’s lore is that only, like, 20 years before the events of the game, a deadly pandemic wiped out a significant chunk of Tamriel’s populations and had huge impacts on the political and social landscapes everywhere. Like, most characters we meet lived through that, but it barely gets brought up and— actually post cancelled. I just remembered covid happened

your ai art does not belong in the elder scrolls tag thank you for coming to my ted talk
reminded of the fact that the eso model viewer discord (datamine discord) created an ai art channel to "please everyone". how about just dont? especially when we are all here to see the ACTUAL hard work the art dept and devs did. there were so many people taking their characters and "improving" them by feeding them to ai. i left that server earlier this week, but sheesh. so many weird arguments, goal posts being moved, etc. i guess i shouldnt expect much when they put datamines behind paywalls.
