To hunt down independent authors and break away from the usual crowd, you shouldn't just look at a single metric. You need to analyze the whole picture.
First, look at the number of views over time.
A small account will get fewer than 10 likes within the first hour (usually between 0 and 1), whereas a big account will easily pull over 50 to 100+ likes in that same timeframe.
A small account can have a post with 300+ likes, but look closely at the timestamp: that post is usually several years old. Those likes were slowly scraped together over 4 or 5 years, not in 24 hours.
(Watch out for the one-hit wonder too: a small account might have one specific post that "buzzed" by accident, while the rest of their blog gets zero views.) <- not universal, but it can happen.
Then there's the follower-to-interaction ratio. This is the ultimate sign of a bot graveyard. If you see someone with 400 followers or more, but their posts barely break 50 likes (or even stay under 10), it means their account is mostly filled with passive bots.
It's the same on AO3 with the Hit/Kudos ratio. This is an excellent indicator of the massive gap in visibility. If an author only has 10 kudos for 100 hits, while newer fics riding the hype train instantly pull over 600 hits for 300 kudos, you immediately see where the invisible author is hiding.
And look at the layout. The lack of visual formatting is a huge sign. Most of the small accounts I’ve known didn't use complex HTML layouts, custom banners, or fancy drop caps in their text. It is usually just raw, plain text.
There is also the absence of a beta reader. A small account doesn't have an editorial team backing them up. As a result, the text might have typos, spelling mistakes, or grammar slips. It’s not a universal rule, but it’s something to look out for. (And you shouldn't bombard them with "you made mistakes" comments; instead, try to encourage them).
Not to mention an irregular posting schedule. Some small accounts don't post every single day or even every week. Updates can take several months, for various personal and human reasons.
The Reality Check: What's happening behind the scenes.
Once you know how to read these signs, you begin to understand the critical situation these authors are facing.
Sadly, more and more small accounts have resorted to camouflaging their own original writings by constantly reblogging other accounts (usually bigger ones) hoping to catch a crumb of interaction from big authors. This makes them even more invisible on their own dashboards.
And the absolute drought of feedback. Generally speaking, small accounts get next to no comments. In the fanfiction community, receiving a single standard comment is a statistical miracle. And a reblog with a written comment? That is the Holy Grail (or any other sacred, mythical relic).
It all leads to burnout and the disappearance of authors. A huge number of small fanfiction authors have simply vanished. They stopped posting, and some completely deleted their accounts. I have literally seen testimonies of readers telling their favorite authors that if they couldn't handle not getting many views, likes, or comments, they should just quit.
And those exact same readers would later cry because everything had disappeared.
NB: I witnessed the birth of fanfiction on the internet.
I knew the era before Wattpad and AO3. I knew platforms that are now deleted. I also knew the time when we shared our fanfictions physically, because we wrote them on school benches.
And sadly saw the decline, the radical change take shape. The industrialization of fanfiction.
Less than 10 years ago, I knew what exchange meant. The "one comment for one comment" rule. If you read a fanfiction you left a comment, the author would come read what you wrote. Or if you were just a reader, they would go read a fanfiction you recommended to them.
I knew the time when leaving a comment had nothing to do with parasocial relationships.
The concept of parasocial relationships appeared because people didn't know the boundaries anymore. And in the end, we created even stricter boundaries than before. Boundaries created to allow some people to hide, and to hide their own laziness.
Because yes. Searching for a fanfiction for 2 hours and then leaving absolutely no comment? That is pure laziness.
And i live with ptsd. I know what anxiety is. I recognize laziness.

Everyone loves the big, beautiful speeches on Tumblr. Everyone likes the posts screaming about how we desperately need diversity, how we need POC readers, plus-size readers, gender-neutral readers, disabled readers, etc.
Those posts get thousands of likes. Everyone wants to look progressive.
But what happens in reality? What happens when a truly inclusive fanfiction is actually published?
Suddenly, the crowd vanishes. Silence. The story gets treated like a niche within a niche.
The hypocrisy is systemic. Platforms give us tags to help make diverse stories searchable. But look at how the 'inclusive' crowd uses them. They don't use tags like 'Plus-size Reader' or 'POC Reader' to find content—they use them as a negative filter. They systematically mute and exclude these tags from their dashboards so they never have to look at them. They demand authors label their diversity, not to celebrate it, but to make it easier to avoid.
Let’s talk about how ridiculous this is. You can have two fanfictions. They have the exact same summary. The exact same plot. Word for word. The writing is great, the ideas are amazing. But if one is a generic "X Reader" and the other is a "Chubby Reader" or a "Disabled Reader"?Everyone disappears. Nobody wants it unless it fits the generic mold.
And let’s look at how they treat these stories when they actually open them. They don’t want true representation; they want misery porn. They will only accept a plus-size or disabled character if the entire plot centers around their trauma, their insecurities, and their tears. The moment an author writes a diverse character who is simply confident, happy, and having a normal, sexy romance without apologizing for existing? The progressive audience walks away. They don’t want to normalize you; they just want to pity you to feed their own savior complex.
Then come the excuses. I have seen people look at an inclusive fic and say, "Oh, I don't feel legitimate reading this because I don't look like that character/reader."
Are you serious?
Think about the bigger people. The people of color. The people living with a disability, a squint, or losing their hair because of stress. For decades, they had to swallow thousands of "X Reader" stories that looked exactly like a standard, skinny, white Original Character (OC). They read them without complaining for years, even though they looked absolutely nothing like them.
The day they finally speak up and demand to be seen?
They get likes on their rants, but zero actual support for their stories.
The worst part? The sheer hypocrisy of the readers who belong to these marginalized groups themselves. They have been so heavily spoon-fed by the "generic" standard that they won't even support authors who write for people outside the norm. They are outside the norm themselves in real life, but they still reject inclusive fics because they've been brainwashed by the generic skinny, able-bodied fantasy.
We need to talk about the excuse of 'escapism.' Many readers from these exact marginalized groups claim they use fanfiction to escape reality. But let's be honest about what that really means: your imagination has been so colonized by systemic beauty standards that you cannot even fantasize about yourself in your own skin. You demand representation on the public timeline for political points, but in the dark, you still crave the white, skinny, able-bodied default. You want the world to change, but you refuse to change your own desires.
And let's hit the peak of hypocrisy: the ones who finally get the exact representation they begged for, but completely refuse to interact. They will click on the fic, read it in secret, take everything the author gave them, and then leave absolutely zero likes, zero reblogs, and zero comments. They demand to be visible in the stories, but they choose to remain a ghost when it's time to support the creator who actually listened to them. They refuse to do the bare minimum for their own community.
Why are you refusing to interact? Is it out of shame? Are you afraid of being rejected by the "popular clique" if people see you liking a fic that doesn't fit the standard norm?
This ghost behavior isn't just laziness; it's social cowardice. In today’s hyper-punitive fandom culture, interacting with a diverse fic is seen as a political risk. If the author makes one wrong move, uses one imperfect term, or writes a scene that doesn't fit the current internet dogma, the 'anti' crowd will tear them apart. So readers play it safe. They consume the representation in secret like thieves, stealing the author's emotional labor, but they refuse to leave a trace. They protect their own digital reputation by leaving the creator to stand completely alone in the cold.
Listen, you can't please everyone. That's a fact of life. But don't you dare cry when everything is gone. When authors stop writing for you, when the diversity you begged for completely vanishes because you were too scared or too lazy to hit the reblog button, do not cry. You caused this.
People love the concept of inclusivity because it makes them look good on their dashboard. But when it's time to actually read, comment, and give visibility to a real diverse story, their laziness and internalized biases take over.
As someone who used to write for the standard reader before switching to x chubby reader a few years a go I can confirm that the stuff I write now gets a lot less interaction ((mainly on Tumblr)) then what it used to get.
And even when I do write for chubby reader, even people in that space will still complain because apparently I'm not allowed to write for a chubby reader with insecurities. Especially if smut is involved. And fun fact! I have a ton of stuff I have written that does not involve that and reader just so happens to be fat in the story. Do people ever point that out? Very fucking rarely, they'd rather just complain.
I am so tired of going into the x chubby reader tag and seeing so many complaints of people going: "oh well I want chubby reader to be written this way" or "I wish authors would write a chubby reader with zero insecurities and no smut there's too much we need more fluff" and I am tired because I look at these posts and think to myself: "well, i have definitely written for the type of stuff you are looking for." But I'll be seen as a narcissist if I self promote my own fic or just flat out ignored.
Its one of the reasons I stopped uploading my stuff to Tumblr. Because there is barely any support from my specific target audience, people are constantly complaining in the tags and I am tired of catering and stressing myself out to a bunch of selfish people that only see my stuff as content to consume. Especially in the gacha game communities my fucking god they hate fat people and it is miserable here knowing that the only reason my stuff is not getting more attention is because I dare to write for a chubby/fat reader.
Readers I beg of you, you need to support writers, especially those who take a risk and write chubby reader, poc reader, disabled reader etc. And like op said:
"When the diversity you begged for completely vanishes because you were too scared or too lazy to hit the reblog button, dont cry. You caused this."
The hate against fat people on social media (whether it's targeting fanfictions, cosplayers, or creators) is a massive issue on its own. It’s infuriating, and I truly feel your pain, your anger, and yet the hope you keep bringing with your tags.
I have seen so many people quit writing because of this. It is heartbreaking, especially for those who actively fight for inclusivity. I used to write inclusive and chubby reader fics myself until I hit a massive burnout; even writing a short 800-word piece became too draining. Ironically, speaking out about these fandom issues is what finally helped me pick up my pen again.
And honestly, don't listen to the people policing how a chubby reader should be written. Comments like "Oh well, I want a chubby reader to be written this way" or "I wish authors would write a chubby reader with zero insecurities and no smut, there's too much, we need more fluff" are just absurd. Everyone has insecurities. Hiding them won't help anyone heal or feel represented.
At some point, you realize these people only know how to complain. They consume whatever pops up in their search bar without leaving a single comment to encourage the author. If they truly wanted a specific type of content, they would write it themselves—even with typos.
If there is one thing I want to encourage you to do now, it’s to never feel narcissistic for promoting your own work.
Why can BNFs (Big Name Fans) do it, but you shouldn't?
Please, do it. Self-promo is the first step to letting people discover your stories. You deserve to shine, and you shouldn't let yourself stay in the dark just because some people refuse to see how beautiful and valid fat readers and fat people are.
No matter which “team” you’re on, I’ve seen blacklisting, harassment, insults, and mockery. I’ve seen this fandom set on fire and bleeding. It’s a fictional world. Whether you like the books or the series or not, whether you agree or not: neither side is more virtuous than the other.
Starting from the beginning. Here, I’m talking about the show, because I’m convinced a lot of people haven’t necessarily read the books.
The case: VISERYS I.
I’m starting with him, not Jaehaerys. There should be an entire post dedicated to him… (the good and especially the bad, which is often forgotten).
Viserys, the beloved king of the Team Black… Shall I start straight with Aemma? Yes. Between getting her pregnant very young and continuing to try for a male heir at the cost of his wife’s health, Viserys is already more than questionable.
The scene of Aemma’s death? It’s the height of Viserys’ hypocrisy. He had his wife cut open to pull out a child. Both died. And then? He cries, he wallows.
Yeah, except it was his order. He could have spared his wife additional suffering. Performing surgery without the equipment or the know-how is like throwing someone who doesn’t know how to swim into the Mariana Trench. It’s not a happy ending.
Then what happens? He banishes Daemon and names Rhaenyra as future queen… in a medieval political system where, years earlier (at the Great Council), women were barred from the throne…
We agree, Rhaenyra was named to block Daemon.
And his marriage to her??
A truly competent king would have stripped Rhaenyra of her title as future queen because she disobeyed the one condition that made her heir. (Future queen… in a society where only the first male child can access the throne…). But he keeps her.
“But he forgave Daemon!”
Viserys’ brain was so rotten he couldn’t even call Alicent by her name.
“Yeah but it’s an insult to the Greens, they deserve it!”
No. It’s a sign that his brain was literally rotting.
What? He wants to be progressive? Then first, he should have given Rhaenyra real responsibilities instead of making her serve wine. He should have put her in front of the council, made her participate, and shut down the council that kept telling her she was just a girl.
He should have stopped his so-called daughter from going to Dragonstone to retrieve the dragon egg, had her watched so she wouldn’t run off with her UNCLE who wants the throne, and especially prevented her from visiting brothels.
“But she was of age!”
I don’t give a fuck. She’s the future queen! She’s supposed to be above her uncle and the lords who go to whores like it’s their right!
Oh, the good king Viserys. He always wanted a son.
He marries Alicent Hightower. (A marriage that’s already more than questionable.) They have three sons and a daughter in the show. Three sons. Three possible heirs. And he doesn’t raise them. (I’ll come back to each child later.)
He ends up so eaten away by leprosy that it looks more like dark magic than a miracle that he survived that long.
Did he strengthen Rhaenyra’s future reign? Apart from cutting out tongues and therefore fueling the lords’ anger, no.
Did he raise his sons to be kings? No.
He did nothing. And he still dares to die whispering “my love.” Well, Aemma must have kicked his ass hard considering everything what happened during and after his reign.
I can already hear you complaining. But be brave. We’re moving on to Rhaenyra Targaryen.
Rhaenyra.
The one everyone tries to portray as a woman who had to live through hardship, etc., etc.
If every noble woman and girl in the Seven Kingdoms had done even a tenth of what Rhaenyra did, they would have been stripped of their titles, their names, and sent to the Silent Sisters or into exile.
Rhaenyra had a chance that many women in Westeros and Essos never had: the choice of her future husband. Take the Baratheons as an example. It wasn’t Lord Borros’ daughters who chose their husbands. It was their father, along with the future husband or his family, who chose the girl to be married.
Rhaenyra could have had any unmarried young man or lord in the realm, even a Martell prince to secure lasting peace.
But miss refused because of her obsession with Daemon. An obsession repressed by Westerosi laws. Incestuous marriages are forbidden and generally very poorly viewed. There are no exceptions. Even among the Targaryens, incestuous marriage was frowned upon because it gave lords every reason to see them as monsters. Dragons or not.
Her night with Cole? Even though I don’t like the man, in the show she seduces him after being groped by her uncle in a brothel… Just writing this sounds like abuse that cannot in any way be considered consensual. But I’ll come back to that when I talk about Daemon.
She gets caught. Ends up with her father who doesn’t believe her. She loses Alicent because she lied to her. I’ll talk about that better when I get to Alicent.
She destroys the trust of the only two people who were on her side.
Alright, small time jump.
Her marriage to Laenor, who can’t have children… and she ends up with Harwin Strong… an older man, a guard, and above all… white. Laenor is mixed… the children she have had should have been mixed, not white “I burn in the sun in under 2 minutes.”
And I remind you again for those who forgot: I’m talking about the show, not the books.
Every sane person in the Seven Kingdoms knows the moment they see a Velaryon and Rhaenyra’s children that they are bastards. No exceptions.
Spoiler for season 2 and 3.
*cough* Velaryon. *cough*
Instead of owning it, or finding a guard who at least slightly resembled Laenor (and there were some), Madame preferred to do whatever she wanted, as usual.
Instead of making herself heard, instead of being clever, she chose to act like a spoiled brat because her father was king and he was cutting out the tongues of those who said her children were bastards. Even though it was the truth.
She lives in such denial that she doesn’t understand how having bastards on the throne would blow up the Seven Kingdoms.
The day Jacaerys would ascend the throne, every bastard born before the first legitimate male child could claim they had a right to noble houses. Baratheon, Lannister, Stark, Martell, Tyrell, and all the others, great or small. Every bastard could invoke blood right over name right.
You really think faking Laenor’s death so he could flee to Essos was a good idea? He doesn’t even have his dragon — just the dragon itself is a trail that should have followed Laenor everywhere and never taken another rider.
Laenor’s death is a terrible strategy. Especially when you marry right after Laena’s death (Daemon’s second era) and right after Laenor (Rhaenyra’s husband).
People aren’t stupid. Two suspicious deaths one after the other and the two of them secretly marrying right after. It screams assassination and betrayal from a mile away.
From here, I’m going to include two of her children while still talking about Rhaenyra, because dissecting them separately would make everything unreadable.
Jacaerys and Lucerys “Strong” Velaryon (not Targaryen).
Two children born as bastards, constantly put back in their place by their uncles and their stepmother (yes, I’m talking about Alicent, don’t start losing me).
They are highly controversial heir princes.
They mock Aemond because he doesn’t have a dragon yet. They think they’re untouchable.
Untouchable while Viserys is alive.
Aemond’s eye being gouged out: let’s remember, it was Lucerys and Jacaerys who started the fight against Aemond.
“But Vhagar was meant for Rhaena!”
Vhagar is an old dragon, a war machine. If Rhaena had hesitated or shown fear, Vhagar would have burned her alive. Child of Laena or not.
How does it end? Lucerys or Jacaerys pulls a dagger and Aemond loses an eye. How do they come out of it? With a few scratches. Rhaenyra and Viserys defend them.
In other noble houses, at minimum a finger would have been broken or an eye gouged out to show that a crime doesn’t go unpunished.
BECAUSE REMINDER (for those in the back):
Gouging out an eye is a crime and some people have been hanged for less. Especially when it’s done to a prince of the blood.
And just before that? Rhaenyra, instead of asserting her title as future queen and sending Alicent and her children away from the Red Keep, leaves for Dragonstone with zero allies.
Because Madame has no notion of politics or what ruling actually means.
I’m going to be harsh and blunt.
Lucerys’ death is entirely Rhaenyra’s fault.
She should have waited for Daemon, who has fought in wars and knows strategy.
She should have sent ravens, not barely teenage kids on small dragons across Westeros.
Because sending Lucerys to Storm’s End was suicide!
You don’t send an emissary who is a prince with no bargaining power to the lord he’s visiting. Especially not in a region where the Greens had already arrived faster with valid marriage proposals.
The Baratheons have a terrible temper and an pride you shouldn’t even scratch.
Sending Lucerys alone when Vhagar was waiting on the other side was stupid.
And we know how it ended: swallowed by Vhagar.
And as time goes on, Rhaenyra proves more and more that she doesn’t know how to rule.
The murder of Helaena’s son?
“It’s not her fault! It’s Daemon!”
Except Rhaenyra is not innocent, because she wanted the life of one of Alicent’s sons. Whether it was Aegon, Aemond or Daeron, she didn’t care — it was Alicent’s son. And she says it clearly. She wants Aemond Targaryen. A prince. She’s no saint.
The fact that she suddenly kicks Daemon out because she no longer trusts him is absurd beyond words. Discovering after several years that your UNCLE is problematic depending on the situation is hilarious.
And I’m not even at the end of season 2… let alone season 3…
I’m moving on to another topic linked to Rhaenyra before getting to the Greens:
The Targaryen bastards. (The dragonseeds)
Calling on bastards from the poor and seedy districts of King’s Landing was stupid, vicious, and cruel.
These people have nothing! Their families are dying of famine and disease in the capital!
And she wants to give them dragons? Without telling them they’re going to be burned alive or eaten? Possibly both at once?
Giving dragons to bastards, when that was the only thing allowing her own bastards to sit on the throne through fear, is the way to destroy your reign. She left the biggest dragons in the hands of people seeking recognition. She and Daemon mock them.
FYI: Vermithor would eat Syrax in one bite.
Rhaenyra should have prayed to a god of strategy, because right now… she’s hammering the nails into her own coffin.
Alright… I’ll be nice and stop here with Team Black.
A side that claims to be virtuous but has sunk into denial, gratuitous cruelty, contempt for the law, and total political incompetence?
Get ready, Team Green. This is gonna sting.
Otto Hightower
Manipulator? Yes and no.
He is the Hand of the King. He sees what Viserys is: a weak king who is wasting away with time.
Any man in a feudal period would have done what Otto did to try to get his family on the royal side and his blood in the line, whether the king was young or old.
The fandom often calls Otto a monster, but it’s an excellent reading of the feudal system where the survival of a noble house depends on its ascension. Faced with a king like Viserys who is collapsing and an unpredictable Daemon, Otto acts pragmatically.
Why did he warn Alicent about Rhaenyra?
He saw how Daemon behaved with her and how the princess was. Having Alicent alone in the castle with her children, facing people who have dragons that can kill them and a Viserys who wouldn’t lift a finger? Otto understood before everyone else the deadly danger weighing on his own bloodline.
If Rhaenyra takes the throne with Daemon, Alicent’s children (the rival male sons) automatically become mortal targets.
Otto is not just power-hungry, he is anticipating an inevitable purge in a world where Viserys would never have lifted a finger to protect his children from the second marriage bed. He wanted to give his daughter some power to protect herself, but everything turned against him.
The greatest example of this failure was Aegon and Aemond.
But before moving on to those two, we have to talk about Alicent.
Alicent Hightower
Who in the show is roughly the same age as Rhaenyra, therefore older than Laena.
Her father makes her understand that she must keep the king company; she does it because it’s her only family in the castle. She has no mother to help and advise her. She’s a terrified teenager, manipulated by her father, with no maternal figure to guide her. Gwayne is still young and in Oldtown, so he can’t defend her.
Have children with a man who is much older than you, incidentally the father of your best friend who is starting to hate you while you understood her pain over the loss of her mother, endure successive pregnancies very young, all while seeing Rhaenyra enjoy total freedom and lie to you openly.
Don’t tell me you wouldn’t become bitter.
Her piety and moral rigidity in season 1 are only defense mechanisms in the face of a life of imposed sacrifices, while Rhaenyra does whatever she wants and never pays the bill.
Because yes. As said earlier, if Alicent had done a tenth of what Rhaenyra did so openly, even as queen in title, she would have ended up in a cell for treason and infidelity. The system forgives nothing to Alicent, while it always finds excuses for Rhaenyra.
The fact that she defends Criston Cole even though he killed someone at a royal wedding? First, it’s not right at all, and second, she finds in him someone who was disappointed by Rhaenyra. It’s the alliance of two beings eaten away by resentment: Cole is lovesick personified, and Alicent is rancor incarnate.
By saving Cole’s life, she buys herself a fanatical guard dog who hates the princess as much as she does.
I’m not defending Cole: his flip because Rhaenyra says no is a huge red flag. The way he talks about a future queen (whether competent or not) would have earned him a cut tongue, and knowing he shared her bed would have gotten him castrated. In any other reign, a Kingsguard knight violating his vows like that would have ended up at minimum at the Wall.
His behavior on the battlefield?
His behavior becomes more and more cruel. And in season 3?… This is not the behavior of an honest knight, but of an executioner. His so-called chivalric devotion was only a facade to hide his bitterness and cruelty.
Alicent’s alliance with Larys Strong?
A beginner’s mistake.
Having to show her feet for an assassination? You really think there will be no consequences? Alicent, who prides herself on morality and religious piety, agrees to lower herself to a creepy fetish in exchange for political murders, making herself a slave to Larys’ blackmail through lack of mastery of the political game.
The guy is ready to kill his own father and brother in a more-than-damp castle. Fire naturally hates humidity; it doesn’t just appear there. Someone who destroys his own blood to advance and gain the queen’s favor will never have any loyalty. She allied herself with a sociopathic monster thinking she was controlling a servant.
Alright.
I’ll let you catch your breath a bit.

Aegon II Targaryen.
Now here… We’re reaching the pinnacle of disaster.
He wasn’t educated, he’s been an alcoholic since a very young age. He rapes servants as well as young girls in the back alleys of King’s Landing, and he fathered many bastards.
We are shown a broken young man, cruel to Aemond.
A pure product of an absent father’s neglect and an overwhelmed mother’s paranoia, where family trauma is passed from generation to generation. He was forced to marry Helaena, and they had children very young, especially her. Forced marriage? Yes, by Alicent. Because Rhaenyra had proposed marrying Jacaerys to Helaena. An offer refused by Alicent even though it could have brought lasting peace. Out of pure resentment and refusal to see her daughter linked to bastardy, she herself locks the political trap and condemns her own children to the hell of this incestuous union, sacrificed on the altar of duty.
Yet? In the show, there is this fascinating paradox: he wants to spend time with his children, he doesn’t want to reproduce what he lived with his own father. Behind the debauched monster, there is the desperate will to break the cycle of family trauma and give his heir the recognition that Viserys refused him all his life.
But tragedy catches up with him. We see Aegon cry over the loss of his child and Alicent who doesn’t comfort him. She doesn’t really comfort Helaena either. It’s the terrible observation of her maternal coldness: incapable of offering the slightest human warmth, she remains a ghost mother in front of her own children broken by grief at the moment they lose everything.
The fact that he goes to war completely drunk? It’s the act of a cruel, broken and traumatized man who is trying to do what he can. It’s not the choice of a lucid general, it’s the suicidal gesture of a king humiliated by his council, shattered by grief and ravaged by pain, who rides toward the fire simply to prove that he exists, his worth, or to end it all.
Aemond Targaryen now.
A child humiliated because he didn’t have a dragon.
The day he claims one?
In return, he loses an eye. His father threatens his brother and him with cutting out their tongues if they call their nephews bastards… On top of his missing eye, he risks mutilation, while he sees his mother trying to assassinate the future queen and the bastards receiving no punishment… It’s cosmically unfair. I think many people would have developed a deep hatred from that moment. This is where the monster is born.
He grows up in hatred, his mother’s paranoia, a toxic Criston Cole, and a father literally rotting in front of the entire castle. His sister whom he loved was forced into marriage, and he was forced to go to whores by Aegon when he was young. His entire environment was designed to destroy him from the inside.
And in the show, a prostitute acts like a substitute mother? He walks around completely naked in front of everyone even though he’s a prince? Even though he hates that his brother goes to whores? The show’s writers have big problems with mothers...
Even more in season 3…
It’s a total contradiction for a character obsessed with control and royal dignity, reduced to poorly written trauma.
Is Aemond all green?
No, far from it.
He burns an entire village out of frustration because Rhaenyra has more dragons on her side and he was forced to turn back. As soon as he loses the geopolitical advantage, he vents his rage in a purely sadistic way on innocents, proving there is no virtue or honor in his methods, just destructive fury.
He thought he could manipulate a war beast like Vhagar, which caused Lucerys’ death. By playing tough at Storm’s End to terrorize his nephew, his arrogance completely overtook him. He triggered an apocalypse he didn’t have the maturity to control, becoming the prisoner of his own weapon.
And the further we go in the series, the uglier it gets. His moral drift and gratuitous cruelty completely erase the unjustly wounded kid and turn him into a fairground monster.
Daeron Targaryen.
This kid has nothing to do with this conflict. He was far away from the Red Keep. He is described as a good son and the opposite of his brothers. How can a child who wasn’t even at the castle have any connection with Jacaerys, Lucerys, Aegon or Aemond??? This kid ends up with his dragon having to go to war because of conflicts that are way bigger than him.
You see? Same seed, but not the same drifts.
Daemon Targaryen.
The guy still seduces his own underage niece, then takes her out of the castle at night, brings her into the city and then to the whores.
If his “Prince for a Day” line hadn’t already tipped you off: Daemon is a troublemaker.
His good sides?
Swift justice? Even if debatable, the smallfolk liked him because he did the work Viserys didn’t give orders for.
He participated in wars, which makes him the guy with the most experience on Team Black.
He has charm and knows how to use it.
The bad sides? Besides the ones already described?
He is impulsive and can be unpredictable. You can go from ally to enemy with one wrong word and depending on his mood.
Everyone says he is loyal to Rhaenyra except he runs off with Nettles in the books.
Nettles…
The show is a shame for removing her!
So back to Daemon.
He manipulates his niece to get the throne, runs off with Laena because he can’t have Rhaenyra (I’m talking about the show side, not the book. Don’t come bothering me with the Daemon/Laena/Rhaenyra throuple!).
He sleeps with Rhaenyra after his second wife is sent to the sea.
He leaves for Harrenhal instead of trying to calm Rhaenyra, which would have prevented a lot of bullshit from happening.
The guy could have gonorrhea and a lot of people would still adore him anyway.
Gwayne Hightower
Oh Gwayne…
If there’s one thing I thank the show for, it’s him.
It shows him as the perfect opposite of Criston Cole, Daemon and many other characters. He’s still down-to-earth without all the religious control. You see that he cares about his nieces and nephews. You see that he was the son neglected by Otto. He’s fed up with Criston.
His line about the value of knights… the guy would have been on Dunk’s side.
You’re going to tell me:
“You’re going hard on the Blacks!!!”
To which I will reply:
“Go complain to the screenwriters.”
I’m only bringing the behaviors to light. And don’t worry, Team Black, with season 3 I’ll have other things to throw at the Greens.
“You hate Daemon!”
Wrong. I love Daemon. And it’s because he’s a grey character. He has as much good as bad, even if season 2 destroyed him and I fear the worst for the rest of season 3.
I didn’t talk about Corlys, Rhaenys, Helaena, etc. At the same time, this post is already really long. If you want, I can tear down the allies of both teams, but that will be in another post.
You see? Good and bad. Team Green and Black, instead of insulting each other, reach an agreement. None of your sides is filled only with saints.
The False Virtue of Fandoms: Inside the Normalization of Trash Content
A Response to "Don't Like, Don't Read"
There is an absolute normalization of extreme, toxic content in the universe of fanfictions. These authors and readers who call themselves "progressive" (a word that, depending on who you ask, will be an insult or a virtue) display big public speeches about safety and respect. But privately, there are also the false virtuous. The ones who say they are "safe" for everyone, that they welcome everyone.
In private?
They only give views and validation to the most unhinged, non-consensual, and character-ruining narratives. They completely destroy the characters to get it.
For exemple : they will take Baelor Breakspear (someone known for being a true knight, brave, noble) and turn him into a Maegor the Cruel n°2 just to satisfy their fantasies. They force complet Out of Character (OOC) to fit into their toxic molds.
You don't agree with this rough smut? For intimate reasons? You become their enemy.
Did I use a word too harsh? Poor you, that is nothing compared to their hordes.
For those wondering why we are their enemies? It turns out that dark romance has become a norm for a certain number of people. And within that number, there are radical people. You are either with them or against them. It has become almost mandatory. If you write something softer, more mature, and tender? You get questioned...
Just so you know: BDSM practices are not a norm, not by a long shot. Might as well dot the i's and cross the t's. A spanking? Not everyone is necessarily going to accept it. So a slap? Making someone cry? Going with force? Tying them up? And honestly, I am being nice with my description.
Some fanfictions have content that is even more hard. Hard... more like trash.
Because no, ladies, gentlemen, and non-binary folks: this type of content is not a norm.
These readers who think they are allowed to do anything never stop to think that the author behind the screen might be a survivor of abuse, assault, or r*pe.
They don't care. They will literally harass and insult an author, calling them "repressed" or "stuck up," because the creator refuses to write about traumatic triggers just to satisfy a stranger's fantasy.
So. I am 32 years old. I was abused during my childhood, and I am not here to write about abuse just for the "fantasies" of a small handful of people.
Have you been a victim of abuse? Of r*pe? You have my empathy. I understand why no one wants to talk about it to justify themselves because they don't write rough smut.
Because yes, to all those who have called for boycotts, blacklists, and harassment: people have lived through literal hell!
And that gives you absolutely no right to harass them because they refuse to write your "fantasies" that remind them of their own traumas! And they have a right to anonymity!
Yes, anonymity, because reading about abuse brings back very, very bad memories.
"You don't have to read it if you don't like it!!!"
I would love to avoid this type of text. Except that, first of all: not all fanfictions are correctly tagged. It's even worse on Tumblr where tags are censored, which makes it impossible to filter content properly.
And second: it has become such a norm that finding a fanfiction with intimate, tender smut has become the ultimate obstacle course. And finding fluff? Gosh... Have you tried? On AO3? And even worse, on Tumblr? Try it, and you'll see.
"It's kink shaming!!!"
Kink? Really? Since when did fantasizing about r*pe become normal? Fantasizing about crying, about hard stuff, about blows?
Since when did kink shaming become a way to defend content that, in real life, constitutes abuse? Do you really believe this type of content is "romantic" in real life?
"But it's fictional!!"
Just because it is written down doesn't mean what is written aren't crimes.
Because yes. When it is not written clearly and plainly, it is not consensual. It is r*pe.
"You use the word r*pe too much."
Oh, really? I call a spade a spade. I use the right words.
They will advocate for consent in real life, but they don't give a damn about the author's consent in real life. Forcing an author to write sexual violence or trash against their will is also a form of violation. You do not force someone’s pen.
To anyone who has lived through abuse, to any empathetic person: the fear must change sides.
Because here? Do you really think these people screaming about kink shaming are going to come comment? Leave an anonymous message? I highly doubt it. They are cowards hiding in private groups. Going at it one-on-one? They wouldn't handle it well. This type of content must not become a norm, and harassment even less so.

Small update: orthography and conjugation corrections. My text sounds French? I know. I wrote it all in one go.(Because yes, it takes time to write a text and not sound like your mother tongue.)
Tic~ Tac~
Here I am.
So, you want to know more?
Where should I begin?
Hm~ Oh… I know~
You see those servers?
Those big accounts who told:
“Open to all!”
“Everyone is welcome."
“Safe space for writers ❤️ ”
Cute. Is it not?
But the moment you desire to join?
They want a DM.
To know who you are, to be able to watch what you read, reblog, like and write.
In the servers?
Oh everything seems normal.
A little introduction. Like in most servers, and it's normal right? To be able to learn about each other.
For those BNFs who gatekeep, it's a filter.
A way to see if you can serve them.
See if you're an author that they need to keep an eye on even if you share the same ships. Or a lurker who will be quiet and keep away from the secret channels. If you're someone who likes to share works of others? And loves their work?
Oh~
You're just what they need.
If you’re lucky, you pass.
If you’re a “peasant”, someone who is small in the fandom as a writer? Who writes for niches? Or even worse. Someone who dares question how popularity and hypocrisy are installed in the fandom?
They will never respond to you.
Because it's what they know how to do best.
Being silent. In public and before you. But in secret? In those "clean" channels?
Oh they talk. They talk a lot.
About how someone so little has dared to want to join them.
And it's not even the worst. Some BNFs are manipulators. They talk to you, are friendly with you. Encourage you to write.Until one day. Everything falls.
Oh? Can you hear the Rains of Castamere? I do.
As people who have discovered what happened behind their back. Not good to be a Stark at that moment.
Oh no~
Those friends? The BNFs? You discover one day that they talk behind your back. On other Discord servers.
And one or two of them have not been quiet enough. You discover that they mock you, put you on the ground. They don't like you. They love to humiliate you. To have their clique far from you.
Those BNFs are so popular in the drama of different fandoms. That people are afraid of them. Afraid to write, to talk and tell what is wrong in the fandom.
People run away from communities because of them.
It's the little death of fandoms in the universe of fanfiction.
Do you think that it's normal for some writers to have 0 likes or 1 to 10 if they are lucky? With zero reblogs. Zero commentaries? Even if what you have read is good?
It will not be a surprise to discover that they were blacklisted.
Blacklisted for what? Even they didn't know.On Tumblr? Almost nothing.
And when they change platforms? A platform where those cliques are not present? Suddenly there are likes and comments.
Strange right?
Why do I not put names? Discord servers? Pseudos on Tumblr?
I know what people can do. And I do not want people to become like those cliques.
I refuse harassment. I refuse insults. I refuse to be as low as them.
Because no. It's not the number of followers that you have. The number of reblogs, likes and comments that make you someone good.
And yet~
I haven't even begun with the false "diversity" in the X Reader tags.
Those readers who look more like an OC than a true X Reader, and every little thing attached to it.
The hypocrisy of BNFs. Or how the prudent of a few crushes the Many.
Do you know what a BNF is?
To put it simply, they are the Big Name Fans. The big accounts. The ones you always see dominating the popular tags.
Many people admire them from afar. Envy them.
But it’s a lie.
Their accounts?
Boosted by a tiny circle of close friends, long before they blast their links on their Discord servers and other social media.
Ah, the Discord servers~
"You're just jealous! You're bitter! You've never even been on those Discords!"
Oh~
If I were truly bitter, I would be deceitful.
The Discord servers?~
Where small accounts are forced to share other people's fanfictions, even if they are authors themselves.
Because HEAVEN FORBID! "She dared to reblog and do her own self-promo! Ban her immediately!"
Hypocrites.
The BNFs and their moderators can do self-promo all day long. Are you a close friend? Go ahead. A peasant? Banned.
Banned without a single warning message~
A sword of Damocles. That is your position in their servers. You go against the BNF’s way of thinking?
Banned~
I have seen you~
Oh look! The dragon keeping fake gold!
Welcome !
To the industrialization!
Of fanfiction.
To stay at the top of the tags, these big accounts produce content like a factory.
Their method? Absolute laziness.
Taking a plot, a hardcore smut text already written, and just replacing the character's name with another to surf on the hype.
They transform deeply honorable figures *Like Baelor Breakspear* into a pale, toxic copies of Daemon or Maegor just because "Dark Romance" gets clicks.
The result?
On AO3, you search for a character across 18 pages, and once you filter out the trash, only 2 pages of actual literature remain.
And if a "peasant" dares to create something original and writes too well?
The clique pulls out their modern weapon: false AI accusations.
Whispered without a single shred of proof in their secret channels, just to destroy a rival's reputation before she takes away their spotlight at Court.
So keep cleaning your Discord channels every 12 hours~
Erase your messages~
But don't forget...
Tic tac~
.....
Oh! I have almost forgotten~
Are you an author who barely gets a single like or comment?
There is a high chance that cowards are gathering in private servers to talk about your fanfictions. To say in secret how well you write.
But what happens if you discover them?~
They will insult you. Because they are nothing but cowards who can spend whole days dissecting your stories, yet cannot find a single second to leave an emoji in your comment section alongside a like.
.....
Of course, not everyone is like this. But I have seen so much. So many small accounts destroyed because of the jealousy of one or two writers. I have seen so many talented small authors become disgusted with writing because of them.

Summary: A touch of tenderness on the sands of Dragonstone.
Category : Fluff
Rules : ♤
Author's commentary : i'm the person who have created this poll.
Tag : @shadowssalvatore

The setting sun left orange rays on the clear and calm waters of the narrow sea shores. The breeze softening the heat of this late summer day, the sound of regular waves as well as birds soothing hearts and souls. Dragonstone was not the capital, no noisy town below the castle, no obligation to meet nobles who came rambling on about their regional problems while spitting at the crown prince’s back as well as the rest of the royal family. No ravens delivering incessant messages.
Dragonstone, once a seat of war, had recently become a place of peace.
At least for two people.
They were sitting on the sand, Baelor only wearing a simple linen shirt and his pants. His shoes were placed not far from his body, allowing Baelor to feel the warm sand under his feet. Between his legs, Y/n was sitting her back against Baelor’s chest. She was wearing a simple linen dress, of her favorite color, her own shoes were placed next to those of Baelor.
Y/n could feel the heat emanating from Baelor. From his chest, and from his arms surrounding her curves, Baelor arm's where both protective and tender.
"You seem lost in your thoughts, my prince."
Y/n gently turned her head towards Baelor, her head naturally finding it's place against the prince’s shoulder.
"I’m just happy to be home."
"Home ?" Y/n smiled, a slight laugh escapes from her lips. "I doubt that you can call a castle a simple home."
"It is true. You are my home Y/n, in all these past conflicts, you are the one to whom I wanted to return. I am not just a prince in your presence."
A look of curiosity traveled inside Y/n light/dark eyes, without stopping Baelor, from speaking.
"I feel that I can be myself in your presence, just a man. Everyone sees me as the heir to the throne, many do not agree with my title because of the Dornish blood flowing in my veins." Baelor turned his head gently to look at her. "You look at me like a man. Just me."
Throughout this confession, Y/n’s heart begined to beat faster and faster.
"So, you just like how I look at you?"
"No." Baelor smiled softly, thinking about all the things he loved in her. "Besides your beautiful eyes, I love the moments we spend together. I like to see you in dresses with the colors you love, I like to see you dressed in colors from the Martell and Targaryen houses. I love your smile that illuminates every place where you are present. And even when you don’t smile, everything about your presence illuminates my world. I love your courage and your pride, I love the curves that are yours, because they are part of you. I like to feel your presence against mine, like now."
"Baelor..."
"Yes, my love ?"
"Why ?..."
"My words ?" Baelor saw Y/n nodding her head. "I am just a man in your presence. No longer a prince, heir to the throne. Just a man."
Y/n moved, allowing her to sit on her buttocks, face-to-face with Baelor, looking at him correctly, Baelor had left his beard growing for several months, although trimmed, it gave him older look. His mismatched eyes, showed such pure tenderness and love. That she could not stop smiling.
Baelor with his warm hands took Y/n’s hands, bringing them to his mouth, placing multiple kisses on them. From the tips of her fingers, pulling up each phalanx, he turned het hands continuing in the palms of his companion. His beard beginned to tickle y/n, she started to laugh. Baelor smiled at it with a new burst of malice in the eyes.
In a smooth movement, he moved Y/n, making her fall on the hot and soft sand who formed a cushions in her fall.
"Ah ! Baelor !"
Baelor didn't let her more time as he kissed her. He placed his large hands against the round cheeks of his companion. The smell of spices and plants from the bath of Baleor, intoxicated Y/n while her own odor of Y/f/f intoxicating Baelor.
As she was about to put her arms around him, as Baelor got up in a hurry, passed his leg over Y/n, lifting sand with his movement. Y/n turned her head in his direction, still in the cloud of the kiss. When blinking a few time, she saw Baelor starting to run, his feets lifted the sand, giving this moment an impression of mysticisme.
"You’re not serious."
Baelor turned around just to smile and laugh. Y/n shooked her head, before getting up at her own speed. Baelor waited for her at about ten meters and resumed his course when she approached too close. At this moment almost lost in time, both of them could afford to rejuvenate and leave the fears of the kingdom far from their minds.

MANIFESTO AGAINST THE HYPOCRISY OF FANDOM AND FANFICTIONS
« You owe me nothing, it’s free » Wrong. Nothing is ever free, a lot of authors wrote during their free time, some put their emotions in it. Some want to become pro writers. If you start working and your boss refuses to pay you, what are you gonna do? Stay silent?
« I have the right to consume in silence » Wrong, consume in silence = be stingy with content and then cry when the author of your favorite fanfiction disappear overnight.
« You’re not forced to post if you don’t like silent readers » I write first for myself, when I post it’s to share, to exchange, to improve my writing. Thing that the majority of authors want. But will never dare to say because the closed circles of bigger authors or lurkers will tear them apart on their private discords.
« Asking for comments is entitled/demanding » Wrong, it’s basic. A professional will always have feedback on their writing. An amateur has the right to a bare minimum.
« I have anxiety/shy, I can’t comment » I live with PTSD. If I want to ask or if I appreciate a fanfiction or not, I use the anon function. It exists since what? 10 years?
« Likes are already support » A like is a like. When you get 10 likes and zero comment or reblog, these same 10 likes are considered bots. It’s not like Tumblr isn’t 80 % bots.
« You’re just bitter because you don’t get a lot of notes » Bitter? No. Just lucid. I saw people lose the strength to write because small ungrateful cowards made their laws and cried the moment their favorite authors disappear.
« On AO3 there’s kudos, here it’s the same with likes » On AO3 it’s the same thing. The same hypocrisy. And at least there we can see how many times the fanfiction has been read or at least interacted with.
« It puts pressure on me, so now I don’t even like anymore » Oh? Not my problem, if you feel targeted it’s because you know there’s a problem but refuse to face the truth.
« Real readers don’t comment, they read and move on » Wrong. REAL readers buy physical books, which shows authors they’re not writing shit.
Am I mean? Maybe I am mean, but at least I dare to say out loud what a ton of people are thinking quietly.
