the amount of anons i get in my inbox thanking me for giving them courage. for inspiring them to be less ashamed of themselves. i've even gotten one or two thanking me for changing their negative perspective on selfshipping. and while i am INSANELY, IMMENSELY, FOREVER grateful and humbled by these messages, i have to ask.
why has it been so fucking widely accepted to be cruel to selfshippers, oc makers, etc. for doing something harmless for SO LONG, that i have people coming to me and saying that thanks to my confidence they are less afraid.
why is it so normalized. why the fuck do we get artists calling themselves simps for their favs but getting squeamish when asked about self shipping or oc x canon. why the fuck do we get people shunning ocs and aus and headcanons and interpretations that don't fit a certain subjective standard of canon. why the fuck are we still doing shit like this.
i used to be afraid. i used to be ashamed. i used to feel like i was WRONG. for drawing a little guy with wings that looked like me being romantic with A FICTIONAL CHARACTER.
i don't care what your reasons are for personally not liking selfshipping. i don't care what standards of canon you hold yourself to. i don't care about whether you think you deserve to have fun the way you want to or not. i don't care. i don't fucking care.
it becomes a problem when people at large are so afraid of pissing people like you off that they shut themselves off.
