i think that 403’s writing is subtextually fairly evident in its investigation of societal shorthands on life and death, but as i reflect on it from the beginning to where i am now it wants to know why specifically the observer is the one that is alive . and simply this observation is evident from its sample. the inevitability of reflection on consciousness. it could have only ever been you. somewhere there is a room full of computers and you were the only one to become alive (and knowing this, it becomes truth)

there is kind of a distinction between reading (looking at text and understanding it) and reading (interpretation and interaction with artwork, fictional or nonfictional) that is really important and i feel there should be some broader linguistic term for the nuance (just out of personal interest in words, admittedly). narrative driven video games are the latter type of reading but doomscrolling is the former. while a video game may not have the same sum amount of words as a social media feed, it is engaging because of its interaction and questioning of the world, and its value comes from its interpretation. this is often missed when discussions of the amount of people reading come up, which completely misses another format of art that has an equivalent value but is not counted.
