-Sakura was one of the few people nice to Naruto when he was younger, (this was something not the case in canon, but if she was, that would make Naruto's crush more realistic.)

-Just remove the crush, Honestly it doesnt do much for the story, and we can still have the plotline of Naruto tricking Sakura about Sasuke but because its a prank and Sakura was being a jerk to him, which would be in character for him.

-Now personally, I would consider switching Hinata with Sakura, but I think that changes the story more into an AU or what if, so to try and keep the main story intact, I wont be shifting the teams.

-My next change really doesnt come until the Land of Waves. And its mostly that I would want Kakashi to teach the tree walking and water walking technique, (considering they were facing ninja from the mist village, it would make sense he would want to teach them that). Naruto and Sasuke just finished the tree one while Sakura got both down.

-Naruto's first nine tails transformation is great, zero notes.

-After the land of waves, (I know Kishimoto didnt really introduce chakra natures until part 2.) but I would actually put a mini arc where Kakashi is teaching Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke about chakra natures. Naruto has wind, like in canon, Sasuke has lightning and Sakura (she never gets assigned a primary one, but has several she shows, so I am going to say she gets Earth as her primary). Sasuke is a bit surprised, he thought his would be Fire release, but after Kakashi explains that as they develop, they will find jutsu with their affinity easier to learn, and if they create Jutsu, that infusing it with their affinity is more likely. It sounds a bit advanced for Genin, but Kakashi wanted them to at least know the basics before he recommends them for the exams. Heck Kakashi might have even taught them a jutsu or two for their respective element.

-Plus I imagine giving them all at least ONE jutsu from these elements.

-Naruto creating something unexpected with this (which I will save for later) -Sakura getting some earth style jutsu, (as she didnt want to be useless as she felt in the land of waves during the fight with Haku)

-Sasuke starts thinking of ways to infuse lighting into his taijutsu and other jutsu.

-Okay so after that, the events leading to the Chunin exams, the encounter with Lee, all go about the same.

-Okay so Part 1 of the exam. Naruto still struggles. But I would also show more people cheating and then getting caught to raise the stakes. Some of the cheating methods were so easy to catch.

-Outside of that, Naruto somehow passing without answering a single question right is funny to me.

-Okay so the second phase of the exam. The Forrest of death.

-Honestly not much to changes until the fight with Orochimaru, Though I would probably reveal Sasuke trying out his new technique after using the phoenix flower jutsu. He basically made an incomplete version of the chidori, but it was too wild. Though Orochimaru comments that the boy is on the verge of making something dangerous, and he leaves his curse mark on Sasuke

-Now Sakura has to guard both of the boys and she thinks about how frustrating its been, she wasnt any help to either of them, and she needs to step up.

-Now when the sound ninja appear and its a 3 v 1. Sakura bucks the f*** up and actually puts up more of a fight, using her new earth style jutsu to protect and fight back... but its a 3 v 1 and with Dosu's sound arm its a losing battle. Sakura does cut her hair to escape a thing.

-Lee shows up and fights them. Team 10 and team 9 show up

-And then Sasuke awakens and does what he does. But I would make him more brutal.

-Now nothing else really changes, team 7 gets the scroll they need, and everything up to the prelim is the same.

-Now, honestly the first change is the Sakura v ino fight.

-Sakura with her new jutsu actually has an advantage, but because of the fight with the sound ninja from before she has less chakra using her new jutsu.

-Ino realizes that Sakura DID improve and is much more desperate. It does still end in a draw, but Kakashi notes that if Sakura and ino were both fresh, the outcome would have been different, but thats how the world is, you dont always get to determine your situation.

-So everything up to the Naruto fight is the same.

-Now Naruto vs Kiba is where we reveal Naruto's wind technique he created. Wind style: Back wind Burst. That's right, its a fart joke. Naruto pretended to try and do his other jutsu, but the back wind breeze made a fart that was super effective against Kiba. And it really disoriented kiba, Like even more than his normal fart in canon. Kakashi mentally noted how both ridiculous and surprisingly perfect a counter that was. For Kiba with an enhanced sense of smell, it was deadly. Naruto creating a jutsu that can mess with a ninja's senses while immature was incredibly clever.

-Naruto then beat his ass with the shadow clones

-One change I would make is the Hinata vs Neji fight. Not a big change, but that Hinata DOES land a good hit on Neji. Also I would have the Byakugan be buffed more because in the light novel it does some cool stuff. Aside from that Neji was going for the kill but gets stopped. Naruto swears to avenge her.

-Gaara vs Lee is the exact same, no notes, its peak.

-And Choji vs Dosu is the same.

-Okay so training arc before the chunin exams finals.

-Ebisu does train naruto in the water walk, which Naruto comments he does know about but couldnt get the hang of it at the time.

-Ebisu gets flattened by Jiraiya, and everything from the unsealing of the 5 prong seal occurs. Naruto handles the water walk with ease after that.

-Basically everything with Naruto and the others training is the same. Though Naruto does touch on something in his training for later. Not just the summoning jutsu.

-Sasuke learned the technique he was creating was actually closer to Kakashi's technique, the chidori, which Kakashi taught him.

-Chunin exams. Naruto and Neji's fight goes pretty much the same way. Naruto wins and it was hard fought.

-Basically all the fights go the same way, then the crush Konoha arc begins.

-The fight with Orochimaru is a bit different (hiruzen gets roughed up more because he deserves it) Orochimaru's arms still get sealed.

-The fights up to Gaara are the same. and Sasuke losing to Gaara happens.

-Naruto's fight with Gaara is a bit different, this is where he unveils some more wind jutsu. He actually saw Sasuke's technique and thought it was kind of cool, and he makes a failed Tornado punch (basically he tried to use wind into his taijutsu) and it was kind of effective, but really the clones were the ones doing most of the damage. Its more of Naruto trying to do more and grow.

-Everything else is the same and Naruto with Gamabunta defeat Gaara/Shukaku

-The aftermath is pretty much the same. With Jiraiya being asked to be Hokage, but he declines and recommends Tsunade.

-Naruto goes with Jiraiya to learn a new jutsu

-Honestly everything from Itachi's arrival to Sasuke running after Itachi I wouldnt change

-The Sasuke vs Itachi fight (if you can call it that) is as one sided as one would expect. Sasuke gets absolutely beat, and Naruto cant do anything thanks to Kisame's sword eating his chakra. But there is one key difference. Itachi immediately clocks something, Sasuke ran all the way here not to fight for revenge, but to protect naruto. Itachi points this out but Sasuke denies it. Itachi comments that this care is a weakness, and 'As long as he lives, you will never have the same eyes as me.'

-Jiraiya shows up. And honestly this is where I would make the first big change. Id show Kisame trying something against Jiraiya only to get kicked back hard show that Kisame does think he has a chance against Jiraiya, showing that Itachi's wanting to avoid Jiraiya was warranted. (itachi said if they fought Jiraiya they would have been killed, now we dont actually know how true this is, because Itachi was actually trying to protect the Leaf, but really I do think this is true, considering how Itachi was sick, and Jiraiya has toad sage mode that wasnt revealed. The fight might have ended in everyone dead.)

-I think everything up to the final fight with the 3 Sannin is the same more or less. Though I think maybe naruto is slightly faster at getting to the final stage of the rasengan mastery. And he is already thinking about how he can put his wind in there.

-So Tsunade gets brought to the village, heals kakashi and Sasuke, becomes the 5th hokage.

-Now for the big one. The sasuke Retrieval arc

-Sasuke still challenges Naruto and it is the Chidori vs Rasengan match, with Kakashi intervening. and Sasuke seeing that the Rasengan was stronger, and how he was weaker.

-Along with the beating, and hearing that Naruto was trained by a legendary ninja, it made Sasuke feel angrier and more inferior than before.

-And when he encountered the Sound Four, they told him of how Orochimaru could give him the power he needs, and he was even told that Orochimaru was once one of the Sannin (meaning he should be able to train him like Naruto did under Jiraiya.) And so Sasuke agreed.

-Sakura tries to plead for Sasuke to stay in the village. I even imagine she says she will try and make him stay, but when she went to stop him, she couldnt in her heart bring herself to try and hurt him. Sasuke did say that he would miss them before leaving.

-Naruto and crew get a squad and go after Sasuke.

-The fights with the sound four I would keep as basically the same (honestly they are basically peak and when the Sand siblings come in, its even better).

-Now what I would change is actually is that for the fight, Gaara is focusing more on protecting Lee after he arrives, Now it should be noted Kimimaro is NOT at full strength and is on borrowed time. Gaara comments that even if Lee wasnt there and Kimimaro had a few more minutes, he would have died. Lee commented even though he is still not 100 % even if he was and had access to the 5 gates, it would not have been enough to win.

-Now the fight at final valley. Honestly there is not much you can do to change perfection, its one of the best fights. I think the only thing I would do is have Sasuke activate the second stage of the curse mark sooner and have more of a fight with that form. Showing how crazy even the fight is between them. The rest is pretty good.
