Analysis under the cut! Major spoilers for manga chapters 40 and 83+!!!!

^^ This is the first stanza of the song, and it's painfully obvious that this is Qifrey's internal monologue knowing that if he leaves Olly, someone else will end up loving him. Because Olly is easy to love. But he's also acknowledging their "partners in pain" pact, knowing that only Olly would be able to forgive him over and over- the memory erasure, the secrets, everything.

^^ These next verses are very representative of how much Qifrey hides from the rest of his world. No one knows his secret, not even the people closest to him. Not Alaira, not Beldaruit, not his apprentices, no one. It's his secret to carry and deal with, because that pain of deception is what's keeping him alive.

^^ Nobody knows... except for Olruggio. Only Olly knows Qifrey's secret, and keeps learning it over and over through the years because he sees Qifrey so clearly. They know each other so well that of course he keeps rediscovering Qifrey's secret.

^^ This part feels more like Qifrey's internal struggle with his missing memories, the "dark" being his unknown past and his journey to recover that part of himself has been thus far fruitless.

^^ This is the part that made me 100% feel that rhis song fit them so well. Qifrey knows that there are so many people that could love Olruggio if he were gonw, but if he didn't have Olruggio's kindness, what would he have? "The sky's kindest, most radiant star." Olruggio's love for Qifrey is so kind and so enduring.
