         I remember reading this hilarious line in a book by Saki - "The cook was a good cook, as cooks go; and as cooks go she went." Goodness, how I had laughed then at the clever turn of words, and the sharp brilliance of the pun.         Well I'm certainly not amused right now - my maid quit on me without notice! The very first person I hired by myself could not stick around for more than a couple of weeks! She came, bullied, and then got bored. Then came the AWOLing, and soon after that we parted brass rags.A trifle disquieting, but I'd like to think she had some unknown and unavoidable compulsions.. makes me feel better! What was cute though, was my next phone call with Mom. She complained about her maid's woeful irregularity, I explained how mine had abandoned me, and it was a real pleasant half hour chat we had about our respective grouses. Felt like I had reached a milestone in my life - having the maid talk with Mom. God I'm getting old.

Nothing good ever gets done out of anger. When you do something, start a project, or whatever - think- who and what is it that you are doing this for? To impress someone? To get back at somebody? Exact revenge? Prove a point? Yes to the above? Really? Then go back, because it is worthless and you deserve to give yourself better gifts.

Missed my train, took the last available seat on the last available bus that had every inch and more filled with standees. But I'm home now. And all the BS is so worth it :)

Living alone, I realize more and more how similar I am to Mum.Never expected it! But more annoyingly,I realize how she's always,Always and ALWAYS right!All right, Mum, enough already!How do you know EVERYTHING?!

It's irritating and it's wonderful that life is full of anomalies.There are those run of the mill everyday rules that the physical universe operates on - and then those marvellous and beautifully unfathomable mysteries that are there to stump us and perhaps make us a little humbler. Surely, it's not our job to know and have an opinion about everything. We must choose what we want to seek. Perhaps time and quiet and contemplation can take us closer to our goals.Meanwhile, let the anomalies remind us that nothing is textbook all the time.And let them stop us from awful snap judgement, rash conclusions and indulgences in hearsay.Because Time is a resilient warrior - earnest about commendation and ruthless about retribution.

Run for your lives when someone asks you your "honest opinion" about something which matters to them.Excuse yourself politely! I for my part, have a smile-and-sprint strategy worked out.Works really great.
