Rose Granger-Weasley was so excited to go to Hogwarts. Raised with stories of the heroes that are her family. With the stories laced with magic and power, friendship and bravery. She was promised the world. Raised alongside her cousin, son of the Harry Potter, Albus. She was so excited the night before. Ready to conquere the next few years with him by her side. Legacy students, both probably in Gryffindor.
Sure, she was also taught about the fears of Hogwarts. Her father told her plenty about the death eaters, the Slytherin students, hell, even Malfoy. A family still in the paperd for possibly even having a child with Voldemort. Still, that didn't stop Rose's wishful thinking. Her hopes for the future. And she always presumed herself to be placed in her parents household. Always shocked when Albus displayed a hint of fear of going. To her, there was never any way to disappoint her family. For she was their eldest daughter, and would always be.
When the train arrived, Rose wished to rush on, only getting drawn back by Albus's concerns. Worry of getting placed in Slytherin. The house of the snake, of the deceiver. Rose, once more, held no worries for their future. He was a Potter-Weasley through and through, no matter how strange he could be sometimes.
She knew they had to get the best seats. Find friends that would last a lifetime, just like their parents. Hopefully they'd find more Gryffindor students, those she could sense to be prepared and unyielding to their school years. The first few carriages were full, but that was fine, they did get on the train slightly later. Then... there was a carriage with only one boy. A trio, perfect!
Though just looking slightly closer, she saw it. The blonde hair, grey eyes, soul as dark as his parents, she was sure.
Albus was certain this was where he wanted to sit, despite her complaints. One last try, to bring her cousin with her. For their school years to overlap, go hand in hand. Be the students their parents wanted them to be.
But he refused. He stayed with the Malfoy. Scorpius was his name.
He chose the snake over her. Over a fellow lion. Still, she knew he'd be back eventually once they were sorted together, as they should be.
When the sorting time came, Rose was ecstatic, her new friends getting sorted first. One in Ravenclaw, two other Gryffindors, and even a Hufflepuff! When it was her turn, there was no doubt when the hat was placed on her head. Gryffindor, just as expected, running to her friends to sit with them.
The Malfoy boy was sorted unsurprisingly, who would expect anything else?
Then came Albus. Rose thought he looked like he may puke, eyes wide as the hat took its place. Rose felt her smile drop instantly as the house came.
Albus got called over by Scorpius immediately, making the awkward walk to his table as those around whispered about a Potter getting put in Slytherin.
Rose felt betrayed. Her dream of going through school together fell apart. Every time in the halls they were pass, she tried to pull him away. Make an exception to Albus.
But he didn't bend, sticking with the Malfoy boy.
Traitor. As she knew all snakes to be.
