La Vie Charmante: Billy Hargrove x Reader
It was your 5th anniversary with Billy and he was usually one to go all out for the special occasion. He had kept you around for five years so it really was something to celebrate for him.
“Hello, lovely,” Billy murmurs as he pulls you close to him after coming home from work. “You look gorgeous as always.”
“Babe, I’m in sweats,” you laugh.
“Doesn’t make you any less beautiful.” He says. “But you need to get ready for our date tonight.”
“Yeah, I know, but I hope you know that afterwards, it’s just gonna be the same outfit I have on now.”
“Not if I have anything to say about that,” Billy smirks pulling you tighter and kissing you roughly.
You kiss him back for a moment before pulling away and making your way upstairs to change. “You can try, lover boy, but that doesn’t always mean you’ll get what you want.”
You head to your shared bedroom to change into a dress that you know Billy liked. A black lace dress with a matching lingerie set underneath. Billy follows you into the room as you change in the closet, changing out of his own grease stained jumpsuit to go shower. When you’re done changing, you smooth out your dress in the mirror before going to sit down at the vanity that Billy built for you last year. You had been doing your makeup on the floor in front of the mirror and Billy saw how much you struggled doing it. It was well made even though it was made with wood scraps that Billy had picked up from anywhere. He gifted it to you for your last anniversary and it had definitely been well loved in that time.
You put on your makeup, making sure to put on a lightly tinted chapstick just in case. By the time you’re done, Billy is done getting dressed and walks out of the closet.
“Damn babe. Lookin’ good.” Billy says, coming up behind you and looking at you in the vanity mirror.
“Thank you, baby,” you say, grabbing his face and planting a kiss on his cheek. His face goes red as you pull away. As much as he liked to play macho man, he really was just a big softie who needed as much love as anyone else. His hand goes up to his cheek and he gives a small grin. Even if you were wearing bright red lipstick, there’s no way that Billy would wipe it off. It was like a sign that he was all yours.
“Well, are you ready?” He asks. You smile and nod.
“I can’t wait to see what you’ve got planned, lover boy.”
Billy rolls his eyes with a smile and you two head to his Camaro. Ever since you’ve started dating, you haven’t opened a door for yourself when you’re together. It’s just something that Billy would always do for you. He opens the door and you slide in the passenger side. Billy looks to make sure that nothing will get caught in the door before closing it and getting in the driver’s side.
It’s about a ten minute drive until Billy pulls into the nicest restaurant in town, La Vie Charmante.
“Wait, Billy, this is La Vie Charmante. What are we doing here?” You ask, practically pressing your face against the window of the car.
“We have a reservation. Happy Anniversary, love.” Billy smiles at your enthusiasm before he goes around to get your door.
You walk into the restaurant hand in hand, as Billy tells the host his name for the reservation. The host grabs menus and leads you into the dining room. It’s beautiful. Flowers are on every table, music plays softly in the background, it’s like a dream. As you’re admiring the decor, you suddenly realize that you’re being lead to the back of the dining room through a set of doors. You look at Billy and he just winks at you with a sly smile. You look past the host and see him leading you to a gazebo in the garden. The host pulls out your chair for you as Billy takes his seat.
“We actually have a set menu for this evening,” the host says, before giving you the night’s menu and walking away.
There’s lanterns with candles set up and chains of flowers wrapped around the gazebo.
“Billy,” you whisper. “How the hell did you get a reservation for this place? And why? Can we even afford this?”
Billy cuts you off with a wave of his hand. “I got a reservation a very long time ago because it’s our anniversary and you deserve the best. And don’t worry about the money, I’ve got it covered. It’s why I’ve been working overtime.”
“Baby...you didn’t have to do this. I would have been perfectly content with staying home and doing nothing, as long as I get to do it with you.”
“I know, I know, but it’s 5 years of us. From high school to now, it’s crazy that you’ve stayed with me for so long through so much.” Billy says, taking your hand from across the table. He rubs a thumb across the back of your hand, instantly making you relax. He looks at you with the most loving look in his eyes. It’s as if you’re the only thing in the universe at that moment. “I love you.”
“I love you more,” you whisper back.
The two of you get through dinner, laughing and reminiscing about the two of you.
“Do you remember when you met my parents?” You laugh as Billy throws a hand over his eyes. You take another bite of the souffle and smile at him.
“Yes, I remember. How could I forget what your dad said to me?” In a very awful impression he says, “don’t you dare try anything with my daughter. I have a gun and a shovel and I know how to use them.”
He laughs at the memory and puts down his dessert spoon. “I hope you know that you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me, (Y/N).”
“Aww, Billy. I know,” you say cockily, giving him a little shrug with a smile. “I’m just kidding, baby. The same goes for you. You’re my everything.”
You take his hand and he kisses your knuckles. “You’re everything I dreamed of.”
You can feel the blush rise up your cheeks as you look down at the table. Even after 5 years, he still knows how to make you blush. When you look back up, Billy is sitting there with a small velvet box in his hand. He flips the lid open and reveals a beautifully simple diamond ring. It’s a thin white gold band with a single diamond on the top. He lets go of your hand and gets down on one knee in front of you.
Tears start to well up in your eyes as your hand goes over your mouth, muffling a sob.
“I know it’s not much, but you, (Y/N), are the love of my life, the one thing that keeps me going every day. I can’t imagine my life without you...will you make me the happiest man alive, and marry me?” You can hear him start to get choked up as he asks.
All you can do is nod. “Yes, Billy, yes, of course.”
He takes the ring out of the box and goes to place it on your shaking hand. Once he finally gets it on, you pull his face into yours and kiss him like there will be no tomorrow. You pull away and take a good look at the ring. It’s beautiful and just the right size.
“I love it, Billy. It’s perfect. But, how did you know my ring size?” You ask.
He digs into his pocket, searching for something. “I may or may not have taken one of your favorite rings to get the right size.” He finally pulls out another ring from his pocket and hands it to you.
You throw your head back and laugh. “I’ve been looking for this for, like, ever!”
“Sorry love, but at least now you’ve got one to replace it.” Billy chuckles and pulls you in for a hug before kissing your forehead. “I love you, (Y/N).”
“And I love you, Billy.”
