actually this is the second time one of my discord mods made me feel very loved and protected. the first time was a few months ago when we were having a round of open signups for Grungle Gym, and a guy DMed one of my mods privately on tumblr and said "eliza hates my guts so could you just give me an invite and ill change my name in the server so she doesnt know its me" and my discord mod was like "?? no??? what the fuck is wrong with you?" and then immediately showed me the screenshots, at which time i was able to confirm this was someone who, contrary to their stated position that we had "beef", had in fact just sent me a series of harassing messages during 2025 until i finally blocked them. i do not know them in any capacity except as a parasocial hostile. so if you were wondering why my discord servers arent just open to the public and we vet everyone coming in, that's why lol.
can you imagine the thought process involved in executing any step of that maneuver. i guess if you really hate someone you could easily mke the mistake of assuming their friends would betray them upon request, but, not to sound trite, it does sort of give me more of an idea of how that person deals with their own social contacts and how they regard their own friends, that they thought that was worth trying at all
