I cant believe I’ve never posted this. My brother Nick is 15 and has Down Syndrome. I play a lot of Of Mice & Men music around the house and he seems to have taken a liking to it. I told him about the mall signing I was going to and he said he wanted to write Austin a letter. He had me draw the lines on the paper and he wrote out the note. I gave it to Austin on the day of the signing and told him the story and showed him a picture of Nick. Instead of just taking the letter and putting it to the side he opened it up and read it with the biggest smile I’ve ever seen. He set it down and was like, ” I HAVE to write something to him.” and he wrote out what you see in the third picture. The signing was the day before my brother’s birthday so I ended up giving the note to him as a part of his birthday present. I’ve never seen him so happy and I’ve never been more proud to call Austin Carlile my hero.
